Went looking to see what I could find out about this team.

"Gatesville QB Speer was 9-of-19 passing for 95 yards, raising his season totals to 112-of-222 for 1,216 yards and 13 touchdowns." from Killeen news. He has missed some time this season with injury. Backup Soph QB Truss is the son of two coaches and ex-college athletes.

Edmonston is quite a stud on defense at linebacker. His brother Cole was 2012 Super Centex Player of the year and is on the Baylor roster.

Four of the losses were to China Spring (11-1) 42-17, LaVega (12-0) 42-21, Brownwood (10-2) 28-16, D-II West (11-1) 44-33 ( all four in third round of playoffs)

the other two losses are not considered "quality losses": D-II Connally 56-33 (2-8) and Stephenville 28-21 (4-7)

That is very true. In 07 China Spring beat the snot out of Rockdale and then had to kick a field goal as time expired to beat them again in the playoffs.

I also think CS is the better team, but I think gatesville is gonna surprise CS for a couple of quarters at least. Will be close, and CS takes it by a single score.

It’s happening at Midway’s Panther stadium Friday night.
China Spring and Gatesville played just three weeks ago, and it was a forgetful game for the Hornets. Though close for the better half of two quarters, the Cougars pulled away and won handily, 42-17. Gatesville gave up four touchdowns passes from Coe and saw Dudik run in for two more.
But it’s not about the past when it comes to the playoffs. Gatesville earned a hard fought victory last week, a game that gives a team like Gatesville nothing but experience. The Hornets have now made the playoffs with a 4-6 record two years in a row, but seem to have found momentum at the right time. Quarterback Jeff Speer, amongst a handful of others, is healthy and the Hornets are reaping the benefits.
China Spring continues to stroll along at a furious, high-scoring pace and will attempt to do nothing but the same against their district foe.
The Cougars haven’t been challenged in over a month after they ran into the buzzsaw that is La Vega. Expect Gatesville to put up a heftier fight than it did three weeks ago.
