Dadgummit, Rockets lose 0-3 in the first set of games. What a great season though, being 1 of 4 teams whose final game was at the State tourny.

Argyle advances to the Class 4A State Final with a sweep over Robinson 26-24, 25-22, and 25-16. Congrats to the Lady Rockets for a great season and a trip to the Final Four in Girls Volleyball. The Lady Eagles will face the winner of the other semifinal match between Bushland and Columbus being played now.

My alma mater of Goliad(35-6) slayed the favorite Peaster(46-1) to advance to the Class 3A Final. Goliad's Tigerettes won in 4 sets (20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22). Congrats to the Tigerettes on a very fine match against a great Peaster squad. I'm sure the whole town is just thrilled with this win.
Goliad(36-6) will now face Jewett Leon(46-3) in the State Class 3A Final Saturday at 11 am. The Class 4A Final will follow this final and tips at 1:30 pm on Saturday.

Bushland defeats Columbus in the other semifinal match(25-17, 25-23, 14-25, 25-23) in 4 sets. Bushland(40-6) advances to the Class 4A State Final against Argyle(41-7). Congrats to Columbus on a fine season and Final Four appearance at the State Tournament.

Argyle Wins!!! Argyle Wins!!! The Argyle Lady Eagles have won the Class 4A State Championship in Girls Volleyball with a sweep over Bushland (25-16, 25-23,25-14). Congratulations to the Lady Eagles Volleyballers for a great effort and a stellar season. They were here 3 of the past 4 years and now they are finally champions. But they have been champions the whole time in our hearts. Now they have the hardware to prove it! A very good season for Bushland and good luck on your return trip in the future. We know what it's like.

On a side note......my alma mater Goliad came up short in their final match with Jewett Leon in the 3A Championship. They can hold their heads high for a valiant effort and fine season. It took the Argyle girls 4 trips to win one.

Correction>>>>It took the Argyle girls THREE trips to win one, not 4. They went to state the last 3 out of 4 yrs. and finally won it. The first time, they were eliminated in the semifinal. Then they missed a year......thanks Decatur. Then last season they lost in the final in 4 sets to Decatur. And Finally......this season they won 30 matches in a row and swept every opponent in the playoffs to win the title. A truly great season for the Argyle Lady Eagles Volleyball team. They never lost to a 4A opponent all season.....all losses were against higher classifications and all losses were early in the season. 42-7 against stellar competition......a truly great team. 7 seniors starting.
