Do you have it?

If so, whole or term? Or a combo? And why?

so many variables :) My dearly departed dad used to say, "Buy term, invest the rest".. just do it early before your health issues become 'issues'.... Pros and cons both ways... if you buy term, try to find a policy that is automatically renewable at expiration. I have the Group 6 and life insurance license but don't write it, and haven't kept up with underwriting and changes because I just wasn't comfortable selling it.. most likely a stupid move on my part but oh well, certainly won't be the 1st nor the last bad move I've made :) Oh and don't forget - anything you have with your job - 99% of the time - goes bye bye when you leave that job.... very few life insurance are portable...

Lol I wouldn't call 30$ a month a waste of money if it saves your family a bunch of financial troubles in the event you passed away unexpectedly. It would pay off your house, pay for your kids college, support your wife until she could support herself fully, pay for the funeral expenses, etc

Whole life insurance is a much different story. It's expensive short term and I could see your point there. Main difference is you will eventually get it back plus some and it will never expire unlike term. So SOMEBODY is getting paid when you pass away....

Term only for me. Cheap investment for my family when I'm gone.

And keep up with your policy! Put it in a safe place, and let your family know where it is.

Why would I want my wife and kids to spend my money when I am gone? They already do it now!

Get a pre nup in case she gets any ideas of an early exit plan.

On a serious note I would suggest you check out "Zander Insurance" Term life endorsed local providers by Dave Ramsey.
