Bellville will be facing one of these teams in the first round of the playoffs. SO.... Whats the scoop on them? Who is expected to win?

Both are struggling badly, but I think Smithville should win this one.

Has Smithville only won one game (Brookshire)?!?!?!? And Salado hasn't won any??? Every year I complain about 4 teams making the playoffs and I sound like a broken record. Neither of them should be playing playoff football in this great state. Was it last year that a Houston team (maybe Scarborough?) didn't win a game, 0-10, and still went? Then I think they had trouble convincing alot of the players to actually suit up for the playoff game or something like that? Go back to 3 teams MAX. I don't care if there is a strong district and one playoff worthy team gets left out here and there. It definitely wouldn't outweigh all the bad teams, excuse me, terrible teams that get to partake in the playoffs. I guess everybody gets a trophy though, god forbid a child gets upset and not glorified for losing. Sorry, I am done ranting now...

If I remember right Bellville came out very flat last yr against Smithville and the game was a lot closer then it should've been. The bye week does no favors IMO for Bellville......Smithville is the same smithville from last year. Weak O-line, and no real athletes. Bellville should blitz and then blitz some more. Their QB is the biggest threat. Contain him and you win.

and yes, Smithville will beat Salado because Salado suck worse then the mighty Tigers. I agree Bull, it is a shame and waste of everyones time for a team like Salado/Smithville to make playoffs. Not to mention it teaches the kids that little to no extra work put in could result in playoff apearances. what a joke

Both are terrible. Bellville will win with ease.

Seriously, I think last year they were sort of both trying to let the other win so they could start basketball. I wouldn't doubt again if neither team wants to play another district champion caliber team.

Smithville(1-8) should win this game against (0-9) Salado. SHOULD. The Tigers have shown glimpses in quarters this season, but has failed to put together a half except for Royal.
The last few weeks have been brutal in district. The lack of Depth is a huge problem, and recently lack of enthusiasm to play as well.

If the Tiger team who played LG tough for a Quarter and half shows up they win this game. That will be back to back post-season births, so there's that to play for.

The score at halftime in the First Round last season against Bellville was 10-7, so if it is another match-up this season I wouldn't completely throw out the idea that it could be a competitive game.

Can you imagine the coach have from Smithville getting fired. He'll be standing in front of the school board asking them, " How can you fire me? I've taken this team to the play-offs every year"

not to mention he is the home town hero, who was hired to be the savior. On a positive note though, they seem to get fancy new uniforms every year.

if they win tonight, would that give Smithville 3 wins in 2 years? is that correct?

It will be very hard to get a reputable coach to take the Smithville job. That would be as hard as someone wanting to coach Somerville or Hearne or Salado for that matter. Smithville used to be a decent team some years ago. It's hard to believe that the talent pool isn't better than what they have. I hope that they get better for the district's sake. It makes the district look weak when you have a 2-8 or a 1-9 team getting into the play-offs every year.

Hearne use to be halfway decent back in the day. Salado can play some basketball though. Basketball coach is a crazy sob.

Yeah Hearne was pretty good back in the 80's when I was in school. They were in our district every year. We used to have to have police escorts everytime we played them there. They had a lot of talent and speed.

Salado beats the mighty tigers last night. I knew Smithville was bad, but I didn't think they were Salado bad?

They were better than salado, it is called basketball. I said it earlier in thread, you have to try and lose to lose to salado.
