Stephenville at Wylie

It's hard to believe the regular season is wrapping up.

Stephenville is coming off a decisive win over Big Spring followed by an open week and would love nothing better than to hand Wylie its only district loss. Wylie is coming off a win over Big Spring, but not the by the margin that many expected. I think slingshot's assessment of how that game went down was dead on. (I can't remember which thread that was on). The Bulldogs will be fired up to earn the district title outright, in front of their home crowd on senior night.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the playoff seedings for our district are set, no matter how the Wylie/Ville and Brownwood/Big Spring games turnout. However, I know Ville wants to beat Wylie just as bad as Wylie wants to beat them. I just don't think Ville can pull that off. I'm gonna say it'll be a similar score to last year's meeting....Wylie 21 Ville 7.

Wylie had 8 starters out vs. Big Spring. I believe three are done for the year, not sure about the rest. Wylie has good depth at most positions but this does put a strain on the overall team.

Several reserves getting worked into starting positions. A lot of adjustment going on, especially on the Offense. Defense is healthy and playing lights out.

We got our wake up call last week against Big Spring. Heard several of the players comment that they came in a little overconfident and that it will not happen again. I know this game does not affect the district standings or playoff positioning at all... doesn't matter. Proud and long-time successful programs like Stephenville and Wylie will play to win. Will they both rest some banged up kids? Sure. Will the replacements play as hard as they can to win? Absolutely. Do both teams want to go into the playoffs on a roll? Yup. Gonna be a great game atmosphere at Bulldog Stadium Friday night!

Still waitin' on that Wylie offense to break it open. Maybe the Jellojacket defense will have some trouble this week and the Bulldogs will finally crank out some serious scores. We all know they have a great defense. But I just know their offense will hit on all cylinders one of these nights, and when it finally does.....look out! Not sure about the injuries, but Wylie is definitely deep with talent on the bench if they need it. Methinks they are a very dangerous team to face in the playoffs. IMO, Wylie has the team this season to win Region 1 and contend against the Region 2 winner to go to the Final.

When you're dealing with 16-18 yr old kids, nothing could be considered a crazy pick. Springtown has a very nice venue, and Iwould believe plenty of seating. Don't see Burk traveling well at all.

True! Visitor side was empty; nobody! Appeared that it was intended for all to be on homeside. Ville and Brownwood sat all together and it was clean and friendly. Just takes one village idiot to stir it up.

A couple years ago I was out on the field with one of our kids who suffered a serious knee injury, several of your 'V.I.' types were standing and screaming "He's faking, get him off the field" and other more colorful insults. Kid had reconstructive knee surgery 3 days later... Just as those guys don't represent all Stephenville fans (I hope), a couple of belligerent fans on our side don't represent us. As a rule Wylie fans and players are very respectful and classy--I hear it everywhere we go.

Young team. That's to be expected. Issues should be resolved by next season. In the meantime, ya'll can improve in the playoffs and maybe win a couple of games. I don't expect them to go far, but I do expect them to put up a fight.
