WHAT WAS HIS STATS? THIS ALL-STATE TEAM SELECTION DOES TAKE POSTSEASON INTO CONSIDERATION!

There is no Chris Kieke, it's Chase, and he's a DB, not a LB.

during the regular season he had 1,100 yards, and missed 1 game against whitesboro that would have given him 200 more..

but the rest of the 800 was all in hte playoffs

Found it interesting that SirVincent from Jasper only got honorable mention, but is a finalist for Campbell's player of the year in 3A.

This list is crap, look how many Marlin players made first team or even second team.

I am surprised that only the Punter from Port Isabel got something. The tackle also got honorable mention. I think that Frankie Herrera at least deserved to get 2nd Team, but instead they have an Hidalgo LB. He didn't even get honorable mention. I think that's not right.

This list is usually slightly biased. It is based upon a 10 game regular season stats. The coaches all-state team is a little better at recognizing the talent that makes deep play-off runs. Although sometimes they are guilty as well of leaving someone deserving off the list.

Congratulations to all the student-athletes that made All-State. Good job. Keep working hard at what you like to do. wink Good luck to the teams playing for the title.

I was glad to see Austin Farias form Orangefield get 1st team. He will make an outstanding College receiver.

What about bellville's QB Jess Buenger and the Kicker/WR Brandt Goeke... All Buenger did was pass for over 2500 yards and 30 TD's. Goeke 800 yrds rec., 16 TD's, 18 FG ( Long of 55,51 and 49---this year) eek!

There are a lot of players well deserving of 1st team, but it's more about SCHOOL recognition than anything.

For example:

If I'm not mistaken, the Forney kicker didn't even get 1st team kicker in his district, but was 1st team kicker here. Just an observation.

Not to mention the Jasper kid who is in the running for Player of the Year, but not on 1st team.

I thought the same thing.

But whoever decided "against" Caleb Hainey, & Baylen Laury never saw them play..

I never saw them play but they couldn't have been all bad to only lose to Gainesville by that few points...

Do you have to be a senior to be on this team? I saw that Runnels and Andrus both made honorable mention. Smith from Navasota outrushed both of them thru 10 games. If only seniors can be on it then it makes sense. If not, well that's a bunch of crap. I was also wondering why Goeke didn't get more recognition. He is a heck of a kicker.

This is the AP All-State team - I would assume that means that some way the media chose this team - therefore the largest contingents of media personnel are located in DFW and Houston - The leading passer and receiver in the entire DFW area (on a pretty good 10-2 team) didn't even get an Honorable Mention. What gives? This is not to bash anybody that was named to the teams and I realize that the coaches teams will be a truer judge of talent but how did you come up with this stuff? How does a receiver on a team that throws the ball 5-7 times a game make an all-state team? Just curious.

its kinda weird how eric wilson from abilene wylie had 2nd team all district o line but 1st team all state...he should have definitely been the 1st team all district center without a doubt..

Well i can tell you one thing the bellville kicker is the most accurate kicker and longest kicker in the state. If you want proof he set a state record this year in the regional playoff game against marlin it was a 52 yard field goal that cleared the goal post by 5 yards and also this kick was in about 40 degree weather....
....THE BEST KICKER IN FOOTBALL IN THE STATE.....

Doesnt give much credibility to the all state selections does it?

How does that make him the best football kicker in the state?

Is that YOUR opinion?
Can that be proved?
Has he kicked against ALL the other kickers in the state of Texas?
Did he win the Kicking contest with the other 1000 kickers in the state of Texas?
What camp was that?

It wasn't a state record. And I agree, he may have not been the best kicker in the state. He is a very good kicker however, capable of doing so at the next level, WR as well.

Steven Arenas kicked a 52 yard field goal this season with room to go.. also, Jon Lopez kicked a 57 yarder against Celina last season.. but of course the record is 70 yards
