How is Sinton still up there? Past two weeks have been very mediocre wins

If you don't lose you don't move. I predicted the top 10 would remain the same the last 3 weeks and it has.

The operative word is WINS -- at least our district is proving to be competitive!

Barely winning though,
We played some competitive teams as well
Navarro 56, Medina Valley 0 They are 4-1 in district with the only loss coming from Somerset
Navarro 45, La Vernia 7 They are undefeated in their district. And Gonzales will be a close 2nd to La Vernia, we beat them handedly as well.

I'm not saying y'all aren't good, I have Sinton and Navarro playing each other for the Region 4, I'm just saying Sinton is overrated.

Where are you getting that we should be higher?? I just think y'all should be lower, but its fine just keep limping through your district hopefully we get to play if y'all make it far enough.

Eh... Liberty Hill and Wimberley most definitely belonged there at the top a few years back; Sinton and Cuero as well. It's exciting and all to see your team in these lists but over time you'll soon learn that it's not always a good thing (i.e. TARGET). I actually love this weeks AP with WOS below Region I, II and IV teams. Gilmer was screwed only receiving 2 first place votes. They deserved more. :smoker:

Believe me, we have a lot of improving to do just to get out of our region, let alone a chance at a repeat. We all know WO-S will be there IF they can beat a very salty Navarro team.

Are all WOS followers born with an inherent fear of being labeled No. 1?

After losing as many games as we have labeled as such... yes.

These new Navarro newbies should chill their jets. One game at a time and we need to handle business one game at a time. I have been on here since we moved up to 3A and you guys need to take a chill pill or you will be wishing you had more seasoning for your crow! We are very good this year but don't be calling Herf - Jones for those rings yet!

Found one with some sense:D

Honestly, I love to see new teams come up and make some noise. One year wonders come and go. The true test is maintaining. Those are the programs I truly appreciate. Whether it's mine or others. When they come up on the schedule and you go "awe crap, we gotta play those guys", that's when you know you have arrived. That's how I feel every time Wylie, Celina, WOS and others stand in our way. There's lots of others too, some we just haven't had the privilege of playing yet.

Couldn't agree more, barely winning is as good as a 50 point win any day. IMO

My original post had nothing to do with Navarro's team, it was a post about a ranking that I thought was unearned, Navarro was never brought up until some others couldn't handle a little doubt being thrown on Sinton.

Sinton team has done fine the past two seasons not being recognized in AP poll which is like some have mention a win poll. Sinton had losses the previous two seasons but peak each time in. The playoffs. If you're unhappy they don't deserve being rank that high then look at the other polls they should make you more happier Sinton is lower in them.

It's almost time to ignore these polls and see who really are the teams to beat. I'm sure D15 teams won't be limping into playoffs.

Some of us who are IN the polls don't see the reasoning behind such high rankings. Every season is different, but polls are more about reputation and popularity than reality.

Well, being No. 1 isn't for everyone. Some cave under the pressure. Some thrive on top. Whatever suits your fancy.

Excuse me for being late...I was under the weather yesterday, BUT allow me to retort

Your original post questioned why Sinton was still "up there" and followed it up by saying we were overrated. That's fine. We probably are a little overrated. Getting some benefit of the doubt from the pollsters after reaching the state-semis the past 2 years and being undefeated this year. Granted we haven't been blowing people out the past few weeks, but I attribute that to our district being competitive (with the exception of Jourdanton - sorry Jourdanton fans). In that game, we pulled our starters out at the end of the first quarter. Not a decision I liked, but I'm not the HC. Yoakum and Cuero are both very good teams and proud programs. All the "projected by" numbers are fine and dandy, but we don't play the games on paper. We had to fight and EARN those wins and that's just what we did, so sorry if it wasn't flashy enough for you or the numbers guys, but we only need to win by 1! So, yes I take exception to your opinion of us "limping through our district" and whether you admit it or not you feel that y'all belong ahead of us in the polls.

Hats off to Navarro for the season they are having. I am a fan of Coach Goad (his brother coached in Sinton for a few years) I've seen y'all play Mathis and Port Isabel -- I know what y'all bring to the table and hope we get the opportunity to play y'all this year, but there is still A LOT of football to be played between now and then and a few teams that might have something to say about us getting our match-up. Best of luck!
