Everyone always talks about team comparisons, and rightfully so because its a team sport. I realized though that I know next to nothing about the top QB's in 4a. Any opinions?

Definitely one of the best, if not the best.

Jack Dallas would need to be in this convo. Took his team to the SC as a Soph and appears poised to make another run in his Jr yr.

Eppler is a good system QB for sure and surrounded by exceptional talent. Baseball is his calling though.

I've watched this kid twice this year. He throws a rope and runs their offensive like he's a fifth year senior. Uses legs, arm, head and eyes. Hope somebody is paying attention and I'm glad we don't play him again.

Landry at Graham
Baca at Pitt
Eppler at Navasota.

Like the QB for Paris has a nice run game

The QB or Celina is a true stud.

Kuafman QB is not splashy, but does what it takes

Hondo for Orange-grove has been a beast same with Cohea for Sinton.

Eppler is a stud. No arguments here. Argyle hammered him in the sc game last year and he kept firing. Lots of respect from the Argyliians for that kid.

I'm going to throw Tyler Ward from Abilene Wylie into the mix. He has thrown for nearly 1300 yds so far this year with a 61% completion ratio, has rushed for 433 yds and has tallied 15 total touchdowns on the year. He's a 6'3" and 205 pounder with a rocket arm and is definitely not afraid to lower the boom on the defenders when he pulls the ball down to run. I believe he was the starting strong safety last year until they figured out he was going to share time with the senior quarterback. Probably should have been the starter last year, but Abilene Wylie is a senior loyal program.

Was just thinking this... Tyler is a very good dual-threat QB (just ask Brownwood--kid is tough as nails).

Man, reading through this thread, it's crazy how many really good QBs there are at the 4A level. Lots of depth and talent at that position across the state.

I went to LE/Pitt specifically to watch Baca. He didn't get to do much because LE was in his grille all night. He can sling it though.

Well, I made my wife (who is from Branson, MO) watch the whole Friday Night Lights series, and she loved it. Now she walks around saying, 'Texas Forever,' now, so I'm close to getting her to be on board with the move. We'll be at Celina's third round playoff game, assuming they make it. And, if - God-willing - the Bobcats make it to NRG, I told my wife we would be there and she was really excited about it. I think that will be the last bit of momentum I need to get her to actually commit to 'Texas Forever.'

Also, we had our first child this past summer, and I think she's starting to see the drastic difference and upside to raising him in Texas over Missouri.

I think like anything else, you have to consider the teams that the QB has played and how difficult was their teams preseason schedule . If your team is playing an easy schedule, then of course the skill players are going to put up big numbers. Take Wylie, Graham and Brownwood for example, if these teams all played a preseason schedule full of teams like Vernon, WF Hirshi, or a Greenwood for example, all three of the QBs would have a lot more passing yards and would be banging on the door of 700 or 800 yds rushing already.
These three QBs are pure athletes, I believe they could all three play at the next level, maybe not as a QB but good enough athletes and football players to make a roster. The have all three produced some pretty impressive numbers given the strength of their preseason schedules.

Burnet's Austin Moore quietly doing well....he missed Wylie game with injury, but still has some decent numbers: 114 of 176 attempts for 1714 yards 19 TD's and 5 INT's....he's just gettin' warmed up!

According to the MaxPreps stats for Argyle, Dane Ledford is 158-215 for 2164 yds and a .735 completion percentage with 5 interceptions. Not bad for a balanced offense. And of course, he was benched quite a bit this season to give our backups playing time, so the numbers are fairly justified. Some games against very quality competition and about half against a weak district. Sanger wasn't weak, though. And he did pass for 333 against Celina. So his ability as a junior is pretty darn good.

I think Landry Turner should be mentioned. Playing Williams and Turner (twice).....I give the edge to Turner. He gave our defense fits. We faced 2 great signal callers in the first 2 weeks of the playoff, that's for sure.

I'll try and find them. I know he has close to 2500 +/- yds and closing in on 30 TD's if not more. And, no more than 4 INT

Ill just add that I think my numbers are pretty close for Jack and he has about a 67% completion percentage. All of this with only playing in 4 full games due to blow outs. Kid is the real deal with the best football name in the state, hands down.

If he were 6" taller he could name his college.

Totally the real deal as a thrower and a runner. I was just for fun looking at the top 4A-DII QB's nos. I'd put him and Connor Pingleton of Celina as the top two. That's why I was curious to see his nos. Hondo Harris of Orange Grove and Kyle Jones of Giddings are also up there, IMO, but maybe just a notch below Pingleton and Dallas. Fine line.
