WOS 87--How many dropdowns to 3A-4A in the last 10 years or so, (expand these parameters if you wish), have won a SC of the class into which they dropped down?

Stephenville in 2012, the only one that come to mind for me.

Then again, this may not be worthy of WOS87's considerable talents---just something that popped into my head.

There's probably a few more, When did Brownwood move up to 4A the first time around? Might've done it i our first year of 4A in 1980. But I'm probably wrong.

Carthage won 4, but they dropped in like 2002. First title was 08.

Celina dropped back down to 3-A briefly in 04-05, and went 13-1 the first year and 16-0 the second.

This is off the top of my head since I'm not at home but I believe Henderson is the only one that won the first year dropping down dating back to Cuero winning their second year after dropping back in 1987. Chapel Hill also won a title pretty quickly after dropping. Teams moving up have been much more successful like Southlake Carroll, Everman and Celina.

Stephenville was a 1st year drop down when they won in '12. Chapel Hill had been in 3A for a while when they won in '11.

Correct me please if I'm wrong......but I believe Chapel Hills only title came in 4a which is now 5A. I know they played for a title in what is now 4a and lost to Henderson. Is that difficult enough to understand:D maybe the Coors Lights have blurred my memory.

I thought Chapel Hill beat Henderson for the title the first year Henderson dropped and the following year Henderson beat Chapel Hill for the title. However, I get confused while talking to myself, so what did I just say?

Beat WC 21-16 on a last second touchdown in the semis :(
Then beat Alvarado by 1 the next week for the title

Cameron - 4 out of 5 years State Championship appearances since dropping down. Lost in the SC game the first year after dropping down.
Missed a year, then have won three straight SCs. Hard to top that.

Haven't kept track the last 3-4 years but LaMarque and Old Waco High both made State Championship appearances 6 years in a row in the 1990's and 1920's respectively. Don't think Lake Travis, Aledo, Allen or Southlake have managed to do that.

Old Waco High- seven state championship games, including six consecutive appearances from 1922-27. Won state titles in 1922, 1925, 1926, and 1927, with runner-up finishes in 1923, 1924, and 1939. Won the National Championship in 1927 beating a team from Ohio.

Cannot say the same about the former 4A/5A drop downs that regularly beat their chest on here.
