4A D2 Region III District Standings and Projections after Week 8

Districts 9, 10 and 12 are ALMOST set in stone except for the Orangefield vs Hamshire-Fannett game or barring a HUGE upset. Liberty, Brookshire and Salado once again appear to be the three teams that won't make the big show although I wouldn't put it past Liberty to give Hardin-Jefferson a run for their money in that game. District 11 could end up with LG, Giddings and Caldwell at any of 1, 2 or 3 and Smithville is a shoe-in for 4th. No matter what the outcome Wharton just landed in probably the most difficult slot in the bracket by losing tonight and WOS will have their hands full no matter who they end up against in Round 2 (again barring a HUGE upset).

District 9
West Orange-Stark (7-1, 2-0) - still has to play H-F and H-J
Hamshire-Fannett (5-2, 1-0) - still has to play WOS, Liberty and Orangefield
Orangefield (4-4, 1-1) - still has to play Liberty and H-F
Liberty (3-4, 0-1) - still has to play Orangefield, H-F and H-J
Hardin-Jefferson (2-6, 0-2) - still has to play WOS and Liberty

My predictions: 1. WOS, 2. Hamshire-Fannett, 3. Orangefield, 4. Hardin-Jefferson (H-F and Orangefield could go either way for #2)

District 10
LaMarque (6-2, 1-0) - still has to play Kashmere and Worthing
Worthing (6-2, 1-0) - still has to play Scarborough and LaMarque
Kashmere (2-6, 0-1) - still has to play LaMarque and Scarborough
Scarborough (1-7, 0-1) - still has to play Worthing and Kashmere

My predictions 1. LaMarque, 2. Worthing, 3. Kashmere, 4. Scarborough

District 11
Caldwell (5-3, 2-0) - still has to play Smithville and Giddings
Giddings (7-0, 1-0) - still has to play LaGrange, Smithville and Caldwell
LaGrange (6-2, 1-1) - still has to play Giddings and Salado
Smithville (1-6, 0-1) - still has to play Caldwell, Giddings and Salado
Salado (0-7, 0-2) - still has to play LaGrange and Smithville

My predictions 1. Giddings, 2. Caldwell, 3. LaGrange, 4. Smithville (If LaGrange beats Giddings and Giddings beats Caldwell this could easily end up in a 3-way tie)

District 12
Bellville (6-2, 2-0) - still has to play Sweeny and Columbus
Wharton (5-3, 1-1) - still has to play Brookshire and Sweeny
Columbus (4-4, 1-1) - still has to play Bellville and Brookshire
Sweeny (1-6, 0-1) - still has to play Bellville, Brookshire and Wharton
Brookshire (2-5, 0-1) - still has to play Wharton, Sweeny and Columbus

My predictions 1. Bellville, 2. Wharton, 3. Columbus, 4. Sweeny

Looks good, WOS87. Looks like there are going to be some fun matchups after that first round. I think from where we are today, after week 8, it's looking like a WOS-Giddings showdown for the Region III title. That ought to be a good one if it comes to pass.
