How many times in the past 8 years since coach S has been at Carthage, that I have explained how the Dawgs work. The non district games are used to fit the puzzle together. Coach S will work on weaknesses even it means loosing the game. The Dawgs are built for one thing and one thing only, win in district and the playoffs. I said the Dawgs would win by more than 14 and they did. The defense gave up 15 points to a very good 5th ranked Henderson team. 7 of the points was on a blown coverage with seconds left in the first half. This Dawg team is right where they need to be. The Dawgs have played very good teams that have helped prepare for the run in district and the playoffs.
QB Blissett had a great game last night throwing for over 300 yards and Hardy ran for over 100 yards. Very balanced attack, that is what the Dawgs want to do. If they have to run to win, they can, if they have to throw to win, they can. The defense played lights out, made big stops when Henderson ran the ball, intercepted the ball, and caused fumbles. Two starters came out in the early minutes of the first quarter. The middle line backer and the tailback/wide receiver. They will be back next week, nothing major. Next week will be another big test. Kilgore is flying way under the radar, they are a lot better than people think. The Carthage Dawgs take no team for granted and will be ready. The storm has started and next week it moves through Kilgore.
