They don't have an easy road. If they can beat Euless Trinity (3rd round) , Allen (quarters), Lake Travis (semis) and Katy(state championship) then yes.

If they can beat those teams in consecutive weeks, the MOJO is definitely back (and better than ever). That would be an incredible run. I'd love to see it.

Well the thread was "Historically good teams that have been down a while". I thought you were right on Brownwood. I don't want to get in a leather helmet battle with Bobcat1, lol but from my perspective of Brownwood football we have been down some.

That being said a down year for Bwd. is a great year for most teams.

Since winning the ship in 2006, La Marque has posted sub .500 seasons in only 08 and 09. We just haven't been the La Marque of old, an upper echelon team. We may never be again.

I always thought when Commerce moved down a classification they would have success but for some reason it just had not happened. With the population growth in Texas and so many new schools popping up it has seemed to have a bigger impact on the larger schools that I remember having winning traditions as many have had their enrollments split off to this newer schools. With that being said some of the smaller schools that had great traditions grew and have struggled with the move into higher classifications such as Forney, Royce City, and a few others I am sure.

Vernon is a team that in the 90's were dominant. Only won 1 SC but played in a few. Always went deep. And, it's not like they haven't had some athletes. At 1 point a couple of years ago, they had 4 in the NFL. Bernard Scott, Clyde Gates, Darrell Richardson, and Ashtan Whiteside. They just haven't put a complete team together in a while.

Here's all the Quarterfinalists since 1980 in our essential equivalent classification over the years and changes. Seems like most of the usual suspects have remained the usual suspects for quite a while. Commerce, Sealy, Port Isabel, Burnet, Vernon are still around and still competitive.. just not Semifinal material as of late.
