.....no, I believe the great Gordon Wood took over in 1958.....and then the lights went out in Stephenville until 1990.

Correction...it was 1960....I didnt realize that he won state in his 1st year in Brownwood.

Nope, just see week off as a major benefit for Ville. Recovery and preparing, regrouping, working out some kinks. 2 weeks is huge when these things are in need. And, I believe Ville had had Brownwood in mind since August.

the Jacket OLine actually does a good job protecting the QB, he throws downfield very well and the receivers are fast and run good routes..which is why i predict a shootout..ref:Graham/BWD game...Springtown's LBs were constantly out of position last night, and they had very little force on the outside, which is one reason the Lion run game was so effective, along with very good blocking from Lion OLine..neither team is patient enough to grind it out offensively...hence..shootout.

Bwd defense on the back end is still VERY vulnerable.....however, the front 4 are very good at what they do. Sville could put up big yards deep outside the numbers. However, don't think Sville can score as much as Bwd. Should be a good game. Will definitely drive down for this one.

The Roos were a one man show. They had a RB named Mark Piece who was unstoppable. He had five or six TDs that day. He went to college at Arkansas and was a 3 year starter. He was a beast. The clock ran out on the Lions at the one yard line. It was a tough 49-42 loss.

It might be a really good game if the ville can keep scoring and not stall. If the ville stalls, it could get gross early.

Rocket doesn't get that sometimes the wheels fall off, injuries happen, and then the ball gets turned over once, twice, or more and things get out of control. AW will take the wood to the woodshed. They beat us by capitalizing on our mistakes (many). Against AW, we made almost none and AW made a few. For this week, not knowing anything about the 'Ville, but hearing they have some defensive issues, I think Bwood will pull this one out, but not by much. Say by a TD

Rocket doesn't get that sometimes the wheels fall off, injuries happen, and then the ball gets turned over once, twice, or more and things get out of control. AW will take the wood to the woodshed. They beat us by capitalizing on our mistakes (many). Against AW, we made almost none and AW made a few. For this week, not knowing anything about the 'Ville, but hearing they have some defensive issues, I think Bwood will pull this one out, but not by much. Say by a TD

1) Congrats to Brownwood. Well Played, solid game except for a turnover on a punt. I thought only Stephinville made poor decisions in the return game. :smoker:
2) The better team won and I don't think it was as close as the score read.
3) I think Stephenville ran the same 2 pass plays all night until they switched it up with a slant on fourth I think...
4) Pretty disgusted with a member from the Stephenville side line, who during a injury time out that quietened the crowd, looked to be having a seizure while yelling at a Yellow Jacket player at the top of his lungs. It was just them two on the numbers with no one else around. Felt so sorry for the kid. This went on for about 10-15 seconds.
5) That long touchdown after the stop inside the 5. Great run and great blocking. From my view point, the Stephenville D was out of position because as soon as the ball was snapped there was a clear lane all the way to the casa.
6) The Parking Sucks
7) 2-4... it is what it is...
8) The SHS band is the best I have seen it in years. (maybe it's just the Star Trek fan in me)

I think our defensive line had something to do with how rattled your QB was. I don't think he had a lot of faith in Sville's OLine. Just my 2 cents.

I have been to three Brownwood games so far this year, and they are getting better each week which is a good sign of great team. If everybody stays healthy the Lions will be playing in December. I honestly think people still don't realize how good this team really is. Next week will put them on the map for sure.

No QB down field threat or elusiveness, no Buenoi can only imagine what it feels like being a soph. and having to fill the enormous shoes of TJones and JStidham..they both were true "dual" threat QBs..EJones is not, he reminds me of Greg McElroy who had the daunting task of following Chase Daniel at SLC in 2005..he was a pure passer, not a runner and Todd Dodge adjusted his scheme to suit his skill set, they didnt have a great RB that year..didnt need to be great..and Mac flourished...Sville's coaches need to do a better job of adjusting the scheme to suit EJones..not just simplefy it! they have really good WRs and the OLine is good enough and Chapman is a good enough RB too..its not too late..

i can only imagine what it feels like being a soph. and having to fill the enormous shoes of TJones and JStidham..they both were true "dual" threat QBs..EJones is not, he reminds me of Greg McElroy who had the daunting task of following Chase Daniel at SLC in 2005..he was a pure passer, not a runner and Todd Dodge adjusted his scheme to suit his skill set, they didnt have a great RB that year..didnt need to be great..and Mac flourished...Sville's coaches need to do a better job of adjusting the scheme to suit EJones..not just simplefy it! they have really good WRs and the OLine is good enough and Chapman is a good enough RB too..its not too late..

Lol... Ok, maybe more like play calling. Continuous running of the zone read option ain't going to cut it with a shaky QB and RB who can't hold on to the ball. Nothing against those players.. But come on. Not the players fault necessarily. Work with what you got. Be creative... Not rigid. Think! Goodness.. It's not that hard.
