These days the snapshot day is usually the last Friday in October. I remember back in high school back in the late 60's, the UIL always released the alignments on October 31st. Boy, things have really changed.

Yes, I heard from a reputable source that Snapshot Day is Friday, October 30th this year.

I've heard rumors that Greenville and a few other teams may move down depending on the lower cutoff. There are a lot of 5A teams above the current 2100 6A cutoff so there will be some shifting. Some are thinking the lower end of 5A will go up (possible 1100). Not sure about many 6A teams dropping so the top end of 6A will likel go up.

Any 4A teams around 1060 or higher? Heard Princeton may move up.

It is ridiculous that 4A has mostly 5 team districts and 5A has 8 and 9 team districts. District size needs to be minimum 6 teams so bunch of 0-10 and 1-9 teams aren't making the playoffs. So they need to move the 4A - 5A dividing line up to include another 15 to 20 schools at least in 4A (in my humble opinion).

So then we do that and everyone in 4A complains when there are schools with 1200 kids in 4A...its a tough balance

1225 might work. Would solve a few problems such as Lake View, Marble Falls, and Calhoun whose supporters are always complaining on the 5A board.

Isn't that what the split classes supposed to be all about.

Anyone care to trow out predictions on what they think the cutoff numbers will be?

2014-2016 numbers

5A: 1060-2099
4A: 465-1059
3A: 220-464
2A: 105-219
1A: 104.9 and below

1A DI: 55-104.9
1A DII: 54 and below

2A DI: 158-219
2A DII: 105-157

Until snapshot day its total guesswork...but I think a good starting point for 6A will be 2150

In that area. Not sure what the bottom of 4A will be. Only the Uil knows.

Once the snapshot numbers come in you can just about nail the 6A cutline since its a set number...the 5A and below numbers are more guess work since its a fluid number

^^^ I agree. The Superintendents vote and they seem more worried about the 2.0 guideline. Also, why 245 in 6A and fewer in 5A and 4A? I've heard it suggested that they have 256 in 6A (32 8 team districts split between D1 and D2).

Unless they change #3 6A will have 245

It will stay at 245 for this alignment and 5A will not be divided into two divisions like 4A was the last realignment. I was just mentioning a suggestion I had heard.

They need to take 4A out of #6 i.e. do away with dividing 4A into

I agree.....with 4 playoff teams from each district it's not needed. Then the districts can be realigned with closer opponents travelwise. You still end up with plenty of great teams in the playoffs trying to advance each week. I think the best smaller schools will compete with the best larger enrollment schools in this classification.

Argyle/Gilmer may end up playing against each other this next go-round.....depending on the numbers and how they treat 4A regarding split divisions.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the latest 4A - AP poll in relation to enrollment numbers for the D-I ranked teams. I believe the 4A D-I - D-II cutoff last realignment was 690. Here goes (enrollment for D-II schools not listed):

1. Navasota. 751
2. Gilmer.
3. West O-S.
4. Celina.
5. La Grange.
6. Kennedale. 978
7. Argyle. 698
8. Sinton.
9. Sweetwater.
10. Tex. Lib.-Eylau. 721
11. Navarro.
12. China Spring. 718
13. Henderson. 896
14. Abilene Wylie. 988
15. Stephenville. 996
16. Waco La Vega. 740
17. Pittsburg. 719
18. Carthage. 723
19. Giddings
20. Brownwood. 893

Navasota is the 24th smallest 4A D-I school out of about 90 schools. There are six schools in D-I in the top 20 smaller than Navasota.

So, interestingly, in the latest AP top 20 for 4A, 15 of the 20 schools are D-II or within 61 students of D-II. I'd like to see then include at least half of those smaller D-I schools in D-II the next go around, depending on new snapshot enrollments, of course. AND, DO AWAY WITH DIVIDING 4A INTO BIG SCHOOL, SMALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

Argyle and China Spring are the smallest schools in Division 1 on Snap shot day before last re-allignment.

I checked it out and it looks like Argyle should land at somewhere around 750 enrollment on this snapshot go-round....an increase of about 50 students.

Hey fellas, I have been out for the last month. How are the Snapshot numbers looking? Big Changes?

Is this the year that Abilene Wylie moves up to 5A?

8TH-11TH was at 1104 last October...

http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/cgi/sas/broker?_service=marykay&_program=adhoc.addispatch.sas&endyear=15&major=st&minor=e&format=w&selsumm=id&linespg=60&charsln=120&grouping=g&sequence=%26sequence.&key=221912

There is talk of the top of 5A going up anywhere from 25-50 so guess it will matter a lot where the "natural break" occurs.

Navasota had 717 in October of 2014. Division II for the Rattlers if these numbers stay the same...?

Geez, Argyle is playing against some big boys. They should spot us some points to make it fair:D:D
