OVERVIEW: Here’s another homecoming matchup, as the Bulldogs and Blackcats meet for the 14th time since the series started in 1974. Sweeny holds a one-game advantage overall (7-6), and has won the past five meetings. The Bulldogs might have a bit of a shakeup to their lineup after quarterback Evan Green went down early last week against Brazosport and did not return. Running back Zedrik White also left with an injury and did not return for the Bulldogs.

Senior transfer Kalen Williams stepped in for Green and ran for 86 yards on 13 carries, averaging 6.62 yards per carry. Williams also completed five of nine passes for 79 yards and a touchdown — though he did throw two interceptions. Malik Willer stepped in for White and ran for 108 yards on 15 carries and a score. The Bulldogs defense is giving up 486 yards per game so far.

If the Bulldogs want to stop the Blackcat offense they will have to deal with quarterback Darryl Florez, who’s 15-of-33 for 216 yards passing. Florez has found the end zone four times, but also has thrown three interceptions. The junior also leads the ground attack with 39 carries for 164 yards and a 4.21 average. Pinard Payne is the leading receiver for Bay City with seven grabs for 121 yards and three touchdowns.
