Put Abilene Wylie in Kennedale's spot, La Vega in Sinton's spot, and Brownwood at 11, then it's pretty close.

Can't believe that Wylie is ranked so low.should be in the top ten without a doubt.

Big point drop off between 7 and 8. Looks like the AP has a "Big 3" in D-I and a "Big 4" in D-II.

Gilmer @ #3........not buying that either. That's on reputation, not the product we have on the field. I do believe we will get better. But this poll basically says we are the best DII team in the state. I've seen enough football to know at THIS POINT, that's not the case.

Same with stephenville. Not very good right now. They'll likely lose their next two.

i don't think they're a top 10 if it were just a division 1 poll

Did yall really lose that much? Seems even "down" years for the Ville are 4 rounds deep.

Just my observation, but methinks the overall quality of football being played at this level in Texas has greatly increased the past 5 years. When you take that into account, it kinda explains why it's so difficult to predict a State Champion nowadays. Just look at Fairfield for case in point. They literally were not on the radar in anybody's preseason poll in 2013, and durn near ran the table. If Argyle wouldn't have had so many athletes that year, they would have.....and almost did anyway!!

You are correct , the kids keep getting bigger , faster, and stronger and with the addition of 7 on 7 plus football camps that once were not allowed you just see a much different football game. The one thing that stays constant in my opinion is the Offensive Line. Fairfield had a very good Offensive Line that was combined with a very fast running back . I watched that game and it was a very good game and if the field was just a little shorter who knows.

Lost the top rated dual threat qb in the country for class of 2015...
Lost the #2 rated RB in texas for class of 2017 (transfer to Cedar Hill)...
Lost a head coach and other key coaches...
QB is only a sophomore making his first starts...
RB's are slow...
secondary still can't cover anybody...

Going to be some challenges, especially in non-district...they should make the playoffs though!!

All true except RB's aren't slow.. They have ran into 2 pretty dang good defenses. They will get better too. But yeah, a lot to make up for.

QB will be just fine. The running backs will get the job done. Our biggest long term problem is cornerbacks. Gatesville exposed them.

At this point, jackets don't fall in the top 20. Jackets will drop completely out during the pre-season, but will still be good enough to win our homecoming game, make the playoffs and go three rounds deep.

This has been one of my top frustrations with the Jackets defense for the last 3 years! Why can't the CB's turn their heads to the ball? They are running down the field blind! They give up a big play by either having the receiver catch a long pass or getting called for pass interference. Very seldom do they make a play on the ball.

That's it I've vented.

Same... I played DB in HS and could cover better than what I've seen now at my age!

lol spoken like a true south texas R4 basher.

Sinton returns 7/7 starters O/D that were even with WOS going into 4th qtr last season state semi's, majority of those players have back to back semi finals appearances and face two very good teams those years and now they'll try to get back there as seniors with couple of years of experience in that round.

Better late than never!

Would love to see Sinton get out of region 4! I like Sinton. But y'all always beat us when I used to live in Aransas Pass years ago.

but to say replace Sinton with LaVega a team with no votes seems your suggesting Sinton should have no votes as a rank team. that's all but you did post the :)

The two teams that hung on to us last year for the first three quarters in the playoffs were Sinton and Giddings. Gilmer had to make up a 19 point deficit and never led until the waning seconds of the 3rd quarter. I'd be scared of Sinton this year.
