I've been hesitant to post this since yesterday, but I finally decided why not....I'll feed Rocket and Beast some more ammunition (even though I don't personally feel Brownwood should be top 10 just from one big win).

Me too. We'll find out a lot about both our teams this week when we see how Wylie-Graham comes out and how Bwood-LH comes out.

I think the Old Coach is more accurate at this point in the season based on record and power rating.

Can Wylie grind it out on runs and short passes to eat up clock and keep it away from Graham's passing game? Can BWD stop LH from grinding it out 4 yds at at a time and eating up the clock? Love high school football in Texas--there is room for everything from Running Spread teams to Air Raid passing teams to Wishbone and Slot-T teams. They can all be effective if run well and you have the personnel and coaching.

I thought I heard somewhere that the Slot-T was just a circus act gimmick system. :vrycnfsd:

Jackets should be in the top 10 in all the polls.

could 2 polls be any more different?

Not too keen on maxpreps.. the way their algorithm works is that it improves as the season progresses. Jasper should not be that high as badly as they got spanked by a mediocre Vidor team and WOS should not be as low as they have them in D2. But it's just rankings. And they're picking Jasper to beat WOS this week... we shall see. Anything could happen when it comes to playing Jasper but they're playing AT WOS which makes a huge difference and we won 35-7 last year.

Just guesstimates at this point. Navasota is the only legit ranking at this point IMO.

And Navasota has no one to even challenge them until deep into the playoffs. Sealy is probably the only road bump and not much of one. Sorry Sealy.

I think both polls have merit....actually all 3 when you include Dave Campbell. The top is unquestioned followed by a lot of good teams that will settle it on the field in the follow weeks. Nothing like suiting up and determining the real poll.

D1 is definitely a little more convoluted than D2 IMO. There's always that team that comes out of nowhere though.

Ala '03 San Augustine....3rd place in district ending up hoisting the trophy over a Colt McCoy led Jim Ned team....SA was not on the map for at least 10 years before that and hasn't been the same since.
