I think our Ranking is a little ambitious as I don't see us as a top 10 team . We lost so many from last year and we just have so many unknowns.

Both will would be tall tasks but it'd glorious if they did. Then, we might get the opportunity to play in Houston against some silver and blue Mustangs.

Same could be said for us. Losing ALOT of speed from last year's offense and also our three year starter at QB. Defense should be much improved though as we are
returning almost everyone that started or saw significant playing time with the exception of maybe three or four players.

WOS preseason AP Poll rankings over the years:

1986 #1 - State Champs (13-2)

1987 #6 - State Champs (15-0)

1988 #1 - Lost in State Finals to Paris (12-3)

1989 #6 - Lost in Bi-District to C.E. King (10-1)

1990 #4 - Lost in Bi-District to C.E. King (9-2)

1991 #4 - Lost in Bi-District to C.E. King (8-3)

1993 #8 - Lost in Area to LaMarque (10-2)

1998 #6 - Lost in Bi-District to Silsbee >;( (10-1)

2001 #4 - Didn't make the playoffs (5-5)

2004 #1 - Lost in Bi-District to Huffman (7-3)

2005 #3 - Lost in State Semifinals to State Champ Wimberley (12-1)

2006 #3 - Lost in Area to Giddings (11-1)

2008 #8 - Lost in Regionals to Gilmer (10-1)

2009 #4 - Lost in Bi-District to Coldspring (8-3)

2011 #9 - Lost in Quarterfinals to Coldspring (10-4)

2014 #7 - Lost in State Finals to Gilmer (13-3)

Kind of funny we weren't even ranked in the top 10 preseason in the following seasons, all of which ended at the hands of eventual State Champs:

11-1-1 in 1985 leading eventual state champ Houston Yates in the 4th quarter yet losing in the Regionals

11-2 in 1995 leading eventual state champ LaMarque in the 4th quarter yet losing in the Regionals

12-1 in 1997 losing to eventual state champ LaMarque in the Regionals

15-1 in 2000 losing to state champ Ennis in the Finals

13-1 in 2012 losing to eventual state champ Navasota in the Quarterfinals

11-2 in 2013 losing to eventual state champ Carthage in the Quarterfinals

Bottom line is that WOS knows how to reload... they do have a tendency to falter when they have a target on their backs though.

It scares me we're ranked #1 in 3 of the major rankings so far.

I was a freshmen in 87 and was moved up to varsity in 88. I was on the sidelines but didn't play. Man y'all had some studs on those teams. That safety in 88, I think his name was knox . He was a beast!

That was the good times when you played everybody and didn't duck anyone in the playoffs. If you made it that far you were the real deal. That was when WOS was one of the top teams in the whole state 5a included.

And we had Kevin Smith in '86 and '87 who went on to win a few Superbowls with the Cowboys. Those were great times.

Got 3 of district 6 in the top 10......Center should be much improved as well with a great duel threat QB, some pretty salty athletes, and most of all a new head coach in Barry Bowman who won three consecutive state titles with Daingerfield with similar type athletes. Gonna be a fun ride through district.

JK will be bigger, stronger and well seasoned in his third start at LG. Lots of recruiters will be showing up at the games. He is a rare blue chip player and should help bring this team along early on as the new guys get up to speed. It will be interesting to see how Coach K uses him and Janda at QB this year. Janda is a tough player who can make the plays work under pressure with his quickness and agility. I suspect we will see a lot of the Wildcat as well with JK taking the snap from the set back. It will be a priority to get an air game going before district and our big receiver Ramirez should play a huge role in that.

If I remember correctly, The whole Tivy/WOS game is on you tube. Its either 86 or 87. And yes, we were probably the best team in the whole state out of any class. We were actually #2 or something like that in the nation behind De La Sale(California) I believe. I was there too as my sister was a fillie (WOS drill team) Captain. I was 6 in '86 but still remember those games and all the runsd through my childhood.

Loved watching that kid play. pure athlete. If things go as planned, hell get his second chance at us. But dont expect the results to be different.:taunt:

Jk Dobbins is bigger and faster than he was last year I say he has another 2000 yard season....and in my opinion will be a top 5 RB in the nation his senior year

He's from WOS but prolly lives in Orangefield. The high schools are literally 5 miles away from each other with Bridge City and LCM pretty much just as close. Could have a large 5A school if we combined the four but that will never happen. Also, chaingang you may be thinking of the WOS vs Rockwall state finals in 1987 that I uploaded to YouTube. Strange coincidence but Kevin Smith just started following me last week because of those vids.

JK was just getting into the groove when he was taken out with the strained knee injury in the second quarter of our game with WOS. Hopefully you will get to see much more of him if we make it that far this season. If you watched the game the week before against Hardin Jefferson you would have a better picture of how he can turn a game around on a couple of big plays. He can swing the momentum our way on any given play. Losing him early on when the Leps were trying to come back before the half was the nail in our coffin last year. Hopefully he will stay healthy and the Leps will have a better showing in a rematch should that come to pass.

From WOS, live in Orangefield now. Put it this way, if you go to the top of the stands at WOS on a Friday night, you can see the glow of the lights at Bridge City's stadium. Orangefield is about another 2 miles away and then LCM is about 6 miles away as the crow flies.

Always do. Had them Buckeyes worried late 4th quarter last year. Eight more inches on 4th and 5 with less than 2 mins left and all the momentum and them Bucks coulda went 15-1. But we didn't get it...then your boys punched it in with 22 secs left to break the tie and win it. Hell of a game....should be another barn burner this year.
