Probably the most sensible ranking yet. But, like all rankings, they will definitely change and surprises will be abundant.

That looks perfect! Gilmer and LaGrange can do what they did last year and argue amongst themselves and go 15-0 and 13-0 again.... I'll hold judgement on the 16th and 14th games until that occurs. Hardin-Jefferson and LaMarque... ehhh. Hamshire-Fannett and even Orangefield may have what it takes to throw H-J a curveball in our district this Fall and finish in the top 2. If LaMarque can beat Texas City they'll be in every Top 10 the entire regular season but they will suffer from the same problem as last year which is no strength of schedule and then run into major problems when they have to play non-HISD schools in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

Celina seems to be getting a lot of love from both DCF and FNF. I am not convinced we are a true top 10 team but I want complain. Go Bobcats!

La Grange will have to rebuild their O Line this year with only one starter returning. They have some pretty good sized kids coming up from the jv and freshman 2014 teams. They also have a very good guard that played a lot of games last year as a reserve and three year starter Hardin at center. The skill positions will be strong and of course JK Dobbins will be starting as a junior this year and will be bigger and stronger. Plenty of recruiters will be at our games to follow him. We will have to wait and see how they do against pre district foes LH Yoakum and La Vernia then we should have a better idea how good they are.

How may does China Spring actually have coming back on each side of the ball? 9/9? Just assuming DCTF had starters and lettermen switched.

wonder if stephenville will still be in the top 25 when the go at best 2-3 in their non-district??Same thing could happen to us... but like 'Ville, we'll be rolling come playoff time. That's the risk of playing a tough pre-district schedule with a ton of new starters.

In D2, I'm a little surprised that Gilmer is ranked #1. They lost 8 playmakers on offense, 4 on defense, and have a new head coach. I don't doubt we can live up to the hype, but we will have a ways to go to get to that level in the beginning. West-Orange Stark should be #1, LaGrange at #2, and after that it's pure speculation, in my humble opinion.

Carthage is in the same boat. Could easily start 2-3 or 3-2. That's how we get better. Constantly pushing weight and playing top competition, but if your down then you get smoked. We started last year 1-4, but finished 4-1 and shared the district title.

graham at 9? I do not see them in the top 3.. But burnet, Wylie, and liberty hill ahead of graham? Anyone else as shocked as i am? Graham should have a great year with what they have coming back. returns a O-Line that is very very good, a LB core that is very stout as a good QB and 2 very good RBs.. This years team is very similar to last years.

I believe that Argyle is above graham right now, and I believe that LE is going to be pretty salty and its close between graham and LE.

Does Graham have the overall team speed to play with the elite teams this year?

Maybe these pollster's took into account ya'll not playing in the State 7on7 tournament this year? It paid off the past few years it seems when you played and had a solid fall. Dunno, just my take as why your ranked behind someone, you feel your better than.

My thought was Graham's graduation losses on the defensive line may hurt...I thought the ability up front a year ago was really the key cog to that defense

Graham Will be here.. Just like every year... 4 of the last 6 seasons at least state semi's... but this yr might just be the one..

I really don't know the inside real depth story of Argyle, but I do have a few connections and inclinations that lead me to the conclusion that what is real and actual about that group and Coach Rodgers vis-a-vis his staff is a definitive "look-out" type team. They could well repeat back to Graham in the semi this season. This means I believe Graham to be a real contender this season as well. They are progressing as a real deal football power in all of 4A D-1, imo.

PS>>>Read and listen to Aguilafanatico about Argyle. He has a D-1 son on the team and is well-tuned to the exact nature and make-up of this season's group. I know more than I let on and so does he. Keep it at that, haha.

Extra PS>>> Graham only has about 15 more students enrollmentwise than does Argyle. They are a relatively very small D-1 school.

ill be honest, graham never has the speed. They have the physicallity though. The D-line this year will be very quick, as well as the Rbs and Qb.

That is true. But they did compete in a 7 on 7 tourny in orlando this last weekend and did pretty well. The D-line is what i worry about, but from what ive seen they are very quick and strong. (they are not no #99 from last year though). All in all this is pre-season rankings. You cant judge anything by a ranking.
This year i beleive that there are quite a few very good teams. 1-4 or 5 the thing is you could argue in any way that each team deserves it.

The tournament in Florida was much more than just the games.. they got a chance to drill and be coached by NFL players (Drew Brees for one) and coaches...was an amazing and one of a kind experience. This was the best result for our wrongful denial to enter the state tournament

Sinton can get their 3rd straight region IV title, this year team could be strongest since 2001 and wouldn't mine a rematch with WOS. But season hasn't started and never know how things will develop, could be some very good teams out of region IV so Sinton will have to be peaking in the playoffs like last two seasons and see how far it take them.

Yeah, I noticed this. I thought they were getting a bit too much love too. Talking to one of the coaches, though, he tends to think there's more in the cupboard than some might think. The Bobcats certainly have some good pieces to work with. It'll be interesting to see how they build around those pieces.

La Grange is ranked pretty high this year with the three polls I saw. The Leps have a tough pre-district schedule with LH Yoakum and La Vernia plus Fredricksburg Columbus and Taylor so we will fingd out soon enough if the rankings are deserved.
On another note, J.K. Dobbins has grown this past year! 5'10 and 195 according to DCTF. He was only 5'6" 155 as a freshman and 5'8" 170 last season as a sophomore. He should be even harder to tackle if he can be caught this year. I would love to have see a rematch with WOS where Dobbins can play the entire game. I'm getting fired up again as it's July and only weeks away from another exciting season of Leopard football.

LH is undersized and over rated this year - All of last years' starters were recruited away, plus we have a New OC - who is fond of the spread -T. Will be lucky to make it out of district play.:D
