The 1924 Season

DISTRICT ALIGNMENTS

Original press release from the UIL
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 20, 1924 - High school football coaches in all parts of the state are working their
squads overtime preparing for the opening of the season, which will, in many cases, occur this
weekend. Everything is in readiness at the University of Texas Interscholastic League office to again
conduct the State championship series. The new plan calling for a division of schools will
go into effect this fall. Schools having 350 or more enrolled in the high school will compete in
Conference A, while schools with less then 350 will take part under Conference B.
The State is divided into sixteen sections for the B teams and eight sections for the A teams.
Conference B sectional championships are to be determined by Nov. 1, and Conference A
championships about a week later. After the teams have been eliminated down to sixteen they
will compete together in the race for State championship.
