The game will get underway at 6:30 pm today(Thurs.) at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. I don't know who is home team yet, and I don't think there is a favorite. Both teams have proven they are topnotch in this classification and have played extremely well thru the playoffs to get to this final game. Argyle right now is seeing the ball well at the plate, and playing a very good brand of baseball. Evidently, WO-S is taking no prisoners either, haha. They pretty much shut down a very solid El Campo Ricebirds club and their pitcher tossed a one-hitter against a good-hitting club. That speaks highly for WO-S. The "Starkers" just came off a highly successful season in all athletics, so I'd say their group of kids are ready for one more challenge. We already know that Argyle is here to win.....to get done this year what they didn't get done last season in this State Championship game. So that's the setup for tonite's big clash, folks. Somebody should post the differents internet sites to listen live to the broadcasts. I just go to Argyle's Booster Club page and hit the Listen Live banner, but it's really thru Sportsgram . If you google that, you should be able to find the Argyle Broadcast. Not sure about the WO-S broadcast team though. GO EAGLES!!!

The Argyle Eagles have never won a State title in baseball yet. This is only their 2nd time here....last year being the first. They don't have a long history, but they got here as soon as they could, hahaha.

Argyle pregame starting now.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 06:29 PM
Lefty Connor Mushinski(soph) will get the start for Argyle. He's had 2 weeks of rest, has (9-1) record this season. His brother Parker signed with Tech last season. He hits fairly well, too....also from the left side. Argyle will be the visiting team.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 06:30 PM
Hunter Markwardt leads off for the Eagles....he's the right fielder and maybe the fastest runner on the basepaths in 4A. WOS will be fast on the bases also, and will try to run on Mushinski.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 06:33 PM
Pitching for WOS tonite is Jack Dallas(soph). He's also their 4th batter in the lineup tonite. He's (6-0) on the season with one save in 13 appearances. He's got a 1.12 ERA, but may only pitch several innings. We'll see what happens here with WOS on the pitching side. They have a good stable of pitchers....that's one of the reasons they are here.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 06:36 PM
Markwardt leading off for Argyle. I'm gonna assume the WOS pitchers will be throwing it over the plate tonite moreso than not.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 06:37 PM
Markwardt in from the left side. First ball called strike and Markwardt thought it was too high. Fly ball to right field as Rutledge catches it for the first out.

Ground ball to infield for first out here in the 2nd. Rixey Boyd up now. Called strike on Boyd. Ground ball to pitcher but he fumbles it then throws it wide to the first baseman and pulls him off the bag. Boyd is safe at first on that mistake.

Now here comes Boyzuick and the throw is gonna get him, but he fumbles the ball and Boyzuick is safe. 5-0 now for Argyle with 2 runners on and still just one out. We've got a change now as Anderson is getting warm-up pitches and a new catcher dresses to take his place there. Anderson is supposedly their Ace. I guess WOS feels they need Anderson on the mound NOW to try and slow down the Eagles in this inning.

regaleagle
06-11-2015, 07:13 PM
Riley Balch up now as Anderson's first pitch is a ball. Now Dallas is at catcher. Foul ball by Balch 1-1 now. Down in the dirt and McDonald takes off from 3rd but has no chance. A five-run 3rd inning set the table for Argyle early in this game that took the pressure off and allowed the Eagles to play with a big lead. WOS did load the bases in the 6th after closing the score to 7-3, but could not get the big hit they needed to close the gap as the Eagles got a big grounder to end that threat. Argyle is State Champion in baseball for the first time. Congrats to the players and coaches of all the teams that made it to the State Tournament.

I feel a little bad for Jack Dallas of WOS. Loses in the football state championship as the starting QB in December. Then loses in the baseball state championship as the starting pitcher. His sophomore year is very bitter sweet.

Just want to congratulate Argyle for an amazing year not just in baseball but I believe they were state champs in 5 or 6 other sports as well in addition to making the finals in football. Amazing what you've done in a little over a decade in existence.

Yeah, he just picked a bag game to have a pitching slump. But honestly though, how many sophomores can say they lead their football and baseball team to a SC? Pretty successful year for the kid. He also has 2 years left in both sports to avenge his losses.
