Here is a 1st vs 4th place breakdown from this weekends baseball action:
3A: 1st place advanced 26 of 32 times going 45-13 overall
4A: 1st place advanced 21 of 29 times going 39-17 overall **There were 2 byes and 1 series is still playing Monday**
5A: 1st place advanced 25 of 32 times going 46-17 overall
6A: 1st place advanced 26 of 32 times going 53-17 overall
Also, Westside and Houston Lamar were the only HISD teams to advance, both in 6A. In 5A and 4A the HISD teams went 0-11 and only scored 2 runs in those 11 games. Districts like these are why its better to let some 4s advance over 1s.
