Jacksonville (5A) ISD, Wayne Coleman will be the district's new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Coleman has a history in Jacksonville, serving as Offensive Coordinator for the Indians from 1991-1996. Coach Coleman brings 25 years of coaching experience to Jacksonville with an extensive career, most recently as Assistant Head Coach of the 2014 4A Gilmer State Champions, where he has coached for the past 7 years.

Jacksonville will also reclaim two of its own as Randall Canady returns with Coleman to begin as the new Indian Offensive Coordinator. Randall is a 1995 JHS graduate and has been on staff with Gilmer ISD since 2007. Another JHS Graduate, Kenny Canady, class of 1993, will be joining the Indian coaching staff as well. Kenny will return home from Aldine ISD where he was recently named a Top 100 Educator for the district.

Both are great guys & will be missed.

I had a feeling we were gonna lose a couple of coaches. Do we know who will be the OC for the Buckeyes this year?

Nothing I have heard...may be one of those deals to wait until after May Contract Time & see who is standing...now that we are short three, maybe we will have some new hires...mmmmm...who could we go after?

Gilmer will have to adapt. They might actually get a competitive half time score in District .

The only problem I see in turning Jacksonville around (assuming the new coaching staff gets the kind of enthusiastic participation numbers we've had here since 2000) is its high school enrollment number.

If it were to drop to 4A, it'd probably almost immediately be a force to reckon with.

We actually miss the old "District of Doom". Lots of good games, less travel, rivalries, etc. It doesn't get any better than that on a Friday night in Texas!

Remember fondly those Friday Night Lights...Kilgore for District Champ...what a crowd & not a working restroom in a 4 block radius
Hennason twice in the same year
G'water & their annual spanking

Just a few...don't want to bore all.
