Well they are leading the Rangers at the moment. I saw at the start of the game that Cleveland held them to a team batting average of less than .100 for the series.

yikes,

Saggy Aggie
04-10-2015, 06:00 PM
Yeah, .093 as a team against Cleveland. It was hard to watch.

But the bats woke up today. Nice win :-)

Saggy Aggie

Astros sitting at 3-3 after taking 2/3 in Arlington. Now they're back in houston and got their work cut out for them as Kazmir is on the mound for the As.

Don't like the pitching matchup much at all for houston tonight but I'll get my hopes up anyways as usual

Hell of a pitching matchup. Astros putting buncha guys on base but kazmir keeps getting out of jams

Saggy Aggie
04-25-2015, 12:44 AM
Crazy game tonight.

Keuchel pitches an absolute gem.... 9 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs.

Top of the 10th, the astros take a 2-0 lead on a 2 out double by Marwin Gonzales. Gregerson proceeds to blow the save on a 2 out triple by Reddick, this following a play Altuve should have made to end the game.

Regardless, the relay throw to home to try to throw out the tying run gets away from Conger, and then Reddick breaks for home. Houston manages to throw out Reddick at home to preserve the game.

So we go to the 11th... Again, houston able to come up with the clutch hit(s) and take a 5-2 lead. Buncha drama in the bottom of the 11th as the A's hit a 2 run homer and get the tying run in scoring position but this time we manage to escape.... God I love the astros.

Stupid thing about baseball is that Keuchel does not get the win, but gregerson (who blew the save) does.

Saggy Aggie
04-25-2015, 03:20 PM
Houston with 3 hits in the first inning, including 2 doubles but only scored 1 run because Altuve was caught stealing. Springer hit a line drive out to right field as well, so lots of hard hit balls early on.

Hope that run doesn't come back to hurt us

Saggy Aggie
04-26-2015, 04:27 PM
That run didn't matter. Astros pounded the A's 9-3 yesterday and so far off to a good start again. 5-2 in the 4th inning in Oakland right now

Houston trying to win their 8th game in their last 10.

I actually want the Rangers to win today because the Angels are actually in 2nd place.... If both teams can hold their early leads, the Astros would have a 2.5 game lead in the west :-)

Saggy Aggie
04-26-2015, 04:41 PM

It's been a few years, but way to go 'STROS. I grew up an Astros fan, and remember going to the Dome for the first time in 1966 when I was 11.....my first visit to the BIGS. I was in awe, and the Astrodome at that time was the Latest Greatest in stadiums. And the first to play baseball indoors. I was in love.....already loved baseball, but now all of a sudden I definitely felt a serious attachment to my boyhood love for baseball. And it has never stopped to this day.

Who has them ahead of schedule? Anyone who keeps up with baseball knew they likely had a chance to compete this season. Ultimately, I don't think they'll win the division, but I picked them to get a wild card spot before the season started. When you suck that bad for that long, you're going to have some talent and a good team eventually.

Not taking anything away from Houston, but it's still REALLY early in the season. Their streak right now is ridiculous and they do have a stranglehold on the AL West at this point, but I have questions on whether their pitching will be able to hold up throughout the entire year.

Regardless, as long as it isn't Oakland or Anaheim that's in first, I'm happy.

Pretty much everyone. I didn't read anyone that thought Houston was anywhere ready to do what they are doing now. There was some talk about them being pretty good in 16, but to say they are not ahead of schedule is silly, IMO.

It's no sin to drop a game here for a team on a 10-game winning streak....esp. against a very suspect Rangers team this season. It's called a "psychological let-down".....a time the players took a mental break from all the stressed play and whirlwind they've been going thru. I fully expect the Astros to win this series....the Rangers just aren't very good this season, lol. Scoring runs wins games and the Astros have been doing that.....the Rangers haven't. Look at last night's score.....2-1. How many times will the 'Stros score just one run? Not very many is my guess.

Good thing houston isn't dallas.

They currently have the most wins in the majors. I don't expect houston to keep this up but man its awesome. I predicted 85 wins and said that 2017 was the year theyd be forreal.

The thing about houston is, they haven't even touched their potential, they have the lowest batting average in the majors as a team. They wont come way up but that won't stick either. They have 4 guys hitting at or under .200 all in the middle of their order. Altuve is hitting decently but not at his capability by any means.

The Astros are going to call up correa and appel at some point, both #1 overall picks the last couple years and lowrie will come back from injury. On top of that, houston is looking to add a frontline rotation pitcher by trade. Things look bright....

Oh and they have the 2nd and 5th picks in next months draft....

That

me too - there is a channel on DirecTV Root maybe?? anyway - been catching the Astros on that channel. One of these days, I have a funny story to share about an Astros game trip when Aaron and Chad were little fellows.. prob 87 or 1988 (it was before Johnny was born, I do remember that lol) .... it involves a finger stuck in a seat belt, emergency stop to a Fire Station to get the finger cut out of the hole in the metal of the seat belt.. - we got to the game in the 5th inning.. It's funny now but it was a BAD DAY at the time.. They were playing the Dodgers - Orel Hersisher (sp) was pitching for the Dodgers and husband was pissed off to miss that.. then some other guy pitched, then that big guy, Valenzuela (sp) came in.. I just remember it was several extra innings... Now I can't remember who was pitching for the Astros.. Funny the things we remember..

My astros story, waiting for my buddy and his wife to show, we were going to sit together. I Had great seats offered to me by a very nice season ticket holder for free, so I accepted them. In the astrodome, about 25 rows up, just left of the batting box a few seats. My ex wife begged me to go get her an ice cream, so I went up the steps and there was the line at the ice cream vendor about 8 people long. While waiting in line, they had a bench clearing brawl and I MISSED IT.....How often do you see that at a game? I was highly p.o'd.

Seems like the Astros have had a stellar season while the Rangers were thought of as just being so-so this season. But you look up w/25 games left and there's the Rangers at the back door knocking to see if anybody's home, haha. :1omg!:

Say what man? I've done been to half a dozen games this season and never paid more than 10$ for parking.

You must be showing up late or something. I park in the garage at the corner of LaBranch and Congress for 10$. Protected parking, easy exit to the main road and about a 3-4 minute walk to the gate....

Closer you get to field the price goes up. Anaheim parking closes you can get was only $10. Might be in Houston there is no real parking lot next to stadium and more like downtown parking. Stadium wise Astros much better. Be there when Rangers stroll in town during late September

I gotta tell ya, as a Rangers fan, I would rather the Astros win the division because you draw Toronto right off the bat.

I don't think anyone wants to draw them first.

Rangers bats are coming alive at the right time. They have been winning without the long ball, but now it appears their offense is ready to put up some serious numbers to help the cause. That should take some heat off the pitching staff for this final month of the regular season. Let's just hope the bats don't play out by the time the playoffs get here. Houston has great hitting, but is suspect in the pitching dept. That could come to haunt them against the Rangers in the latter days of the season. Either way, it will be a very cool month to watch both of these Texas-based clubs try to win their division. I just hope none of the other teams in the hunt for a playoff spot makes a run and knocks one of these two out of the playoffs.

Well three things can happen and two are bad for Houston.
1-Leave with a 1 1/2 game lead
2-leave with a 1/2 game behind
3-leave with 2 1/2 games behind.
We still have about 20 games left so whatever happens it's not the end for either team.

After this series Texas has 16 games left and Houston will have 15. If Texas sweeps I would be very worried if I was an Astros fan.

Astros won today and Rangers look like they're going to lose, currently down 8-2.

Division lead is 1.5 games for the rangers. Astros have a soild 2.5 game lead over the angels in the wildcard.

Astros have 12 games left, including the next 6 at home, 3 against the angels and 3 against the rangers....
