The Texas A&M Islanders of Corpus Christi have done it again. What an encore by their softball team. In baseball the Islanders early in the year beat the highly ranked Texas Longhorns 5 to 0 and then lost a second game in early April by one run and both games in Austin! Yesterday (in Austin of course :) ) the Lady Islanders played the Lady Longhorns who are ranked No. 3 in Division NCAA 1 softball and lost by a 2 - 1 score! A great game by the Lady Islanders and one which I consider a moral victory for the Corpus Christi University especially since they have only started the softball program in the last few years! Man what an up and coming program! I bet Texas wouldn't play these teams in Corpus Christi for anything in the world (and who can blame them?).

Hey Phil, the softball team was actually ranked earlier this year. Their pitcher was one of only a couple of finalists for National Freshman of the Year last season. And you know who the guys are coached by, right?... Hector Salinas, Moody's old baseball coach. They've got the pieces in place, and baseball and softball are the only sports the students at TAMU-CC seem to care about.
