The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes Powerlifting team placed first overall at Longview Invitational Powerlifting Meet Wednesday.
Gilmer finished with 40 points. Host team Longview had 33, and Tyler Lee finished with 27 points. This is the first year for Gilmer to compete in powerlifting. Medalists include firstst place Sophie Ethridge in the 97-pound class by lifting 315 pounds; Gilmer’s Adrienne Branch first with 655 and Sugar Stone second with 580 in the 123-pound class. By lifting 685 pounds, Dominic Noble took first place in the 148-pound class while Kady Cantrell took first place in 165-pound division. Taylor Criddle lifted 730 pounds to beat her Tyler Lee competitor Gabby Billington who lifted 725. The LadyBuckeyes were also awarded several Best Lifters awards. In the light platforms, third place went to Sugar Stone, second place to Dominic Noble, and first place to Adrienne Branch. In the heavy platforms, first place went to Kady Cantrell.
Lady Buckeyes will travel to Maud Feb. 21 for the last meet of the regular season.

Gilmer Powerlifted in the Mid 2000's. Kurt Coached them for a while and Another coach after him. I remember them bringing girls to my Regional meet as far back as 03. Know they had at least 3 girls qualify in 04. With 1 going to state.
