4A #13 Silsbee vs. 4A #16 Kennedale at 3:30pm today in Fort Worth. Silsbee defeated Fort Worth Christian 78-48, 3A #11 Peaster 77-59 and 4A #23 Argyle 54-34 to reach finals. Kennedale defeated Liberty Christian 83-66, 3A #13 Bowie 58-40 and 3A #2 Ponder 80-69. This will be third time these two teams have faced each other with Kennedale winning prior two games (80-72 2008 State semifinal, 87-84 2012 playoff warm up game)

A little surprised Silsbee has done so well with them being so young. Starting 5 is 4 soph. and a junior. Only 1 senior on team and he is the 5th player off the bench. Silsbee's first 4 off bench are 2 juniors, 1 soph. and a freshmen.

Should be a fast paced game, both teams like to get it up and down the floor. The Silsbee/Argyle game was a contrast of styles to say the least.

Silsbee defeated Kennedale 79-69 to claim the championship of 2014 Whataburger Classic. Silsbee defeated 3 state ranked teams on their way to win championship.

I look for Silsbee to move into top 10 in TABC rankings next week.

Argyle is like a fine wine in basketball.....they get better as the season ages, LOL. There's a couple of football players(JC Chalk, 6-4, is one of the scorers and a starter) that really haven't had a chance to get their basketball game going yet. Lots of games left and lots of ball to be played. Congrats to a great Silsbee win in the Whataburger Classic. The Argyle Boys and the Argyle Girls teams have both won this tournament before in the past. This year's Argyle Girls was in a national tournament over in Tampa this weekend playing Top Twenty National ranked teams in that tournament by invitation. They were 16-1 going into the tournament, but dropped the first two games with losses. Don't know how they did last night in their final game against another national ranked power.
