I know the other B-ball is only getting started, but I'm more a fan of baseball than basketball.

We had a pretty good ride last year and now that College Station is up where it belongs, I'm hoping for a better ride this year. I have no idea who is what around the state or even the area, but RR baseball should be about as good this year as last and should be in the mix.

Geez louise, I feel sorry for the 3A folks now that West is in that classification.

Looks like it's just you and me pardner. Ought to be a great series again this year.

I know one thing though, I ain't going to the Cameron tourny in February. Coldest dang sporting event I've been to over the last two years.

China Spring also has one Senior on the team this year. Martinez (Mid Inf.) missed last year due to ACL injury in football. The rest are sophomores and freshman.

Not sure how good Argyle will be this year.....lost some good pitching. You can bet Pleasant Grove will be there.....seems like they always are. Haven't seen any preseason rankings for baseball yet.....are they even out? Argyle girls are top-ranked in basketball, and the Argyle boys basketball has to get thru Dallas Madison, Wilmer Hutchins, and a couple of other top basketball schools in the area. Don't think any basketball players are also on the baseball team, though. Those two sports run kinda concurrent. I would say without at least 2 dominant starters, most teams will need to have very good hitting to go deep in the playoffs. Not sure what Argyle has left from last season's big senior class.

Sinton district for 2015. this was revised nov 13th by uil but not sure what is different lol.

District 31 - 4a

Sinton- lose some good seniors from last season but have some good young players ready to step in and help lead another charge to a district title, going for their 15th in 16 years and hopefully another shot at a return trip to Austin. Sinton finish last season 26-11.
Robstown- return a lot of starters and their ace Jesse Ray Garcia and looking to get back to being a force, look out for the Cotton Pickers this up coming season. last season record was 17-13
Ingleside- came on strong late and will be led by their ace Isaac Suniga they finish last season 19-13
Orange Grove- Missed the playoffs last season and was 17-11 for the year. They return some good players and a pitcher that can get it up to 93 mph in Quintin Smithwick.
Rockport Fulton- Came alive late to sneak into the playoffs with a losing record and finish the season 10-23. RF always has a good group of baseball players so they'll be in the mix again this season.
Beeville Jones- Drop down in classification might be a team that can compete for a spot. find out more about them later. last season record 5-23
Kingsville King- Had a hard throwing pitcher last two seasons but he's gone so I don't think they had much beside him. last season record 17-11
Corpus Christi West Oso- they were a playoff team couple of years ago, had a good couple of years on the diamond but most likely will be battling Beeville and Kingsville to stay out of the cellar. last season they were 8-17

8 team district should be fun!

Woo hoo! We graduated our ace and our all-state left handed first baseman amongst
others. Plus rumor has it that our really good baseball coach may retire at the end
of this year. So, we may very well need that fourth spot.

District 2-4A should be interesting. Here are the teams.

Big Spring
Lamesa
Levelland
Lubbock Estacado
Snyder

Possibly. I would think Cameron or Rockdale though. Cameron has a newer hotel and Rockdale has about 3 or 4 total. Bridge City has been going to this tourney for a while now. I know Hudson has been there in the past as well. Bridge City, Boerne, Hudson, Kountze, Liberty, and Brownwood would probably all be staying.

Do you know how the pools will be split up?

Are they going to play on the new fields???

Yoe_09
01-01-2015, 07:30 PM
From the last I have heard, the new field will not be available until district. They are in the process of building the new high school field, parking lot, and event center now. The other two fields will come after they finish that. I believe things got delayed by a month due to the others fields and figuring out how that process was going to work. The only thing covered in the Cameron ISD bond was 1 high school field (2.25 million). The parking lot, event center (includes restrooms/concessions stands), and 2 other fields are being built by the Cameron Economic Development Corporation.

I have not seen the break down yet on the pools. Schedules should be up sometime this month.

Based on this, it appears that this is a pure round robin style of play with scheduled games on Saturday. I was more of a fan of the previous setup where you where seeded out of pool play and it was 5 vs. 5 - 4 vs. 4 - 3 vs. 3 - 2 vs. 2 - 1 vs. 1.

The big question is, "who has been working their butts off to get better since the end of last year, and who has done no work at all." Yes, you all already know that its my pet peeve but their are lots of players/teams that have not done anything to get better. Sadly, lots of schools don't even allow those who don't play football into an athletic class during the fall. Its just a real shame. Now that football is over, ALL the baseball guys should be working with their baseball coach during school time to get better. However, a vast majority are in football offseason. Its just sad, sad, sad. If your school does have opportunity for baseball guys to get better, please list which school it is. Good luck guys.
