I was really impressed by WOS. Their defense is tough. I could tell Dobbins is a beast but just nowhere to go.... WOS D made a good LG o line look really bad. And WOS has a crapload of talent in the secondary. Just completely overmatched the LG WRs

Dobbins was on crutches with an ice pack on his knee in the second half. Didnt look good. Hes going to be special. Just a soph, right?

Well everything they said about the Mustangs was true. They had the athletes and the speed and size to completely dominate the Leps. Hats off to a great football team and a really impressive tour de force. Wish WOS all the luck going forward. Hope you guys win state. Great game great season. Congratulations to the Leps for tying the best season record 13-1 two years in a row. Nothing to feel ashamed you just ran into a buzz saw. WOS was the better football team plain and simple. Thanks for the words guys! No crow needed and no chest beating on our part. We all love our teams and it feels oh so good winning games like this and it hurts to lose. We were on the losing end in this round for 3 straight yrs so we know all to well how it feels. I officially give all of you a "crow pass". :)

Actually, we do have a bunch of seniors, but a bunch coming back too. Our nose guard(42) is a soph. Both LB's will be back (one a jr the other a soph), our CB (8) is a soph, big number 32 (jr) will be back as well on defense.

The QB is a soph, 21 the RB is too. We will lose the entire o-line and that will hurt. We have a very strong Soph class and will have a real strong freshman class.

Hats off to Hutchinson for stepping up and competing till the end, the Leps team as a whole never gave up and played hard till the end. Congrats to WOS and good luck the rest of the way. Got to give a Big shout out to Coach Kates, his coaches and all the Lep players for the last 3 years. Three straight District championships that has not ever been done in La Grange before, even more impressive is the way those championships were won. Most of these players were not very successful as for as wins in the their early years (7th & 8th Grade teams) however with solid coaching and the commitment from the players to be the best one of their major goals was accomplished. Thanks Coach Kates for 3 great years, on to next year. Congrats Leps.

Actually the Leps will lose a lot with 33 seniors graduating. Counting Dobbins going both ways 5 starters on Offense 4 on defense return. We will definitely be rebuilding next year LepFan especially with only our center returning on the O line. Coach Kates and his crew will have the Leps going strong again but we may not have the same kind of start to the season we had this year. This group of seniors was especially talented and played well as a team. They will be remembered for many seasons along with the SC 2000, Finalist 2001, Semi-finalists 2009 and 2013 teams.

I said we would beat La Grange in 2012 and we did. You and Pud were crybabies about it afterward. I actually predicted that we would lose to Carthage and was wrong.

I said last year, from the beginning, that is was a down year for all El Campo. We lost our top 3 RB's and got hammered by La Grange. Not surprising.

I said this year we would lose to Navasota.

As far as the "win something" comment, what has La Grange done over the same 3 year period?

The Buffs had more team speed than LG which made for a better match up. Also, LG tried to cover our receivers man to man on the outside (big mistake), which allowed us to score quickly and, pretty much, end the game in the first half.

Also this was my first game to see the Leps and I was somewhat surprised to see we had no passing game to speak of, you have to have at least a serviceable QB to make a long run in the playoffs. Not knocking our QB's however it is very hard to run the ball even with the talent we had at RB without some type of passing game, hopefully next year our young QB steps up to take some pressure off Dobbins. Just FYI- Dobbins injury is a sprained MCL, should be fine without surgery.

Thats great news about Dobbins. Hated to see him injured. He will bounce back.

As for the passing game, I tried telling Pappafeelgood and Pud that there was a big difference between passing when everything was working and passing when nothing else did... I also told them that, because of what I just said, if a team could contain Dobbins, then LG would be in trouble. Pappa told me I was smoking something... I told him it was "reality weed" :)

There is truth to what both of you have said, about LG's passing game, and a passing game when run is working or not. But Hook, you also need to realize the talent of the WOS defensive backs. It is very hard to complete passes to covered receivers in high school. It is typically easy to get open in high school, but the WOS d-backs are very good.

O trust me I understand about the talent WOS had at DB, we have faced this same problem in our deep runs in the playoffs. Carthage gave us the same mismatches the last few years, when we won State we matched up a little better as a team in our last two games. When you face D1 talent in the secondary you better have some pretty solid WR's to offset that mismatch, this year we neither. Not knocking the team, just the facts. Most all knew if LG could not run the ball, WOS would have the upper hand. That definitely was the case, I see WOS and Gilmer at Jerry World.
