Kickoff comes out to the Steer 25. Tannehill takes it 8 yds on first. 2nd & 2 for BS now. Tannehill in shotgun keeps it to the 36 for a first down.

Goodbye Big Spring.

2nd and 10 at the Jacket 40 now. Flag thrown for illegal procedure. 2nd and 15 now. 1st penalty of the game so far. Now another flag...false start by the receiver. 2nd and 20 now at midfield stripe. Tannehill will keep it but is popped for now gain off a zone read. 3rd and 20.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:30 PM
Screen pass to Alexander down to the Jacket 25 for a first down on 3rd and 20....WOW. What a perfect call against the strong rush.

Big Spring scores as Tannehill breaks 3 tackles as he runs it in for a Steer TD. The extra point into that wind is wide.

Kickoff into the wind goes out of bounds at the 18 yd. line. Stephenville will start at the 30 or will have the option of a rekick. They will rekick from the 35 into this big wind.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:35 PM
The ball is blown off the tee now. The wind is a big factor here. Tannehill kick goes to the 35 by Brown and is tackled at the 36 on a high kick....kinda a like a pooch kick in this wind.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:37 PM
Now into BS territory to the 44 on that run. Hurry offense as Stidham throws it downwind too long.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:38 PM
Williams reverses field and runs it down to the BS 30. Stidham throws another too deep into the end zone incomplete.

regaleagle

2nd and 10 to the 20 yd. line. 3rd and 5 from the 20.

BS Is getting no rush, Stidham has all day to throw. 28-13 now

regaleagle

Touchdown on a pass by Stidham for another Jacket TD here. That was a strike on 3rd and 5. Kick is good.

regaleagle

Kick is pooched to the 5 yd line with the wind and he is hit at the 20. 1st and 10 for BS. Alexander is stopped for no gain on first. End of the 1st against the wind for BS. They will start 2nd and 10 with the wind.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:45 PM
Here we go....2nd and 10 downwind for Big Spring now at the 20. We'll see how Tannehill does with the wind now. YEP...he throws it 9 yds. complete. 3rd and 1.

Dawgs
11-28-2014, 03:45 PM
SVille might already be too far ahead. Sounds like the D is stepping up. Lots of ball left to play.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:46 PM
3rd and 1 at he 29. Tannehill runs it up the middle across the 50 for a touchdown saving tackle. That was a big gain for Hunter Hill, not Tannehill.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:46 PM
Tannehill....Hunter Hill.....which "Hill" has it????:speech:

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:47 PM
BS at the Jacket 29 yd line now. 1st down Steers now. They are marching with the wind now. Hill picks up 5. 2nd and 5 now.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:48 PM
26 yd. line as Tannehill tucks it and runs to the 22. 3rd and 1 now.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:49 PM
Timeout Stephenville. 3rd and 1 with 9 mins. left in the half at the Jacket 22.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:51 PM
Tannehill hands it off to Hill but he barely gets to the 20 for a first down. 8 min. left in the half. Tannehill throws it in the end zone and he drops it. It was on the money but Wiggington could not hold on to it. It would have been a TD.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:51 PM
Hill jet sweep to the 5 yd line for a first down.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:52 PM
1st and goal for the Steers now. Alexander hit at the 4 . 2nd and goal now.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:53 PM
Tannehill rolls the right and is tackled for a loss. 3rd and goal at the 7.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:54 PM
Tannehill play actions to Wiggington wide open in the end zone for a TD. BS may go for two here. Delay of game on this 2 pointer...wow.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:55 PM
BS will now burn a timeout on an extra point here. They had lots of confusion on the BS side of the field. What a mess for an extra point.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:56 PM
A 25 yd extra point kick is good with 6:33 left in the half.

XP good 28-20. The jet sweep hurt Stephenville that drive. 6:33 left until half

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 03:59 PM
Tannehill to kickoff downwind now. Ball blows off the tee. Kick goes end over end out of bounds at the 3yd line at the Jackets touch it before it goes out of bounds.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:00 PM
Stidham takes the snap in the end zone from the 3 as Williams takes it out to the 14 for a first. Now Williams takes it to the 20 on first.2nd and6.

regaleagle

4th and 1 into the wind. Delay of game on the Jackets. They were indecisive on the sideline whether to go for it or punt it. Nice punt of 30 yds past midfield with no return.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:03 PM
BS starts at midfield now. Run losses 3 yds. on a double reverse.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:04 PM
Tannehill pressured and throws it out of bounds. 3rd and 13 now.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:05 PM
Pressure on Tannehill as he is hit, then fumbles and then falls on it. BS will punt on 4th and 22 now.

3 and out for BS, Stephenville starts at the 3... Nice punt by BS. Personal foul on the kick. Ball placed at the 1

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:07 PM
BS takes a delay of game before the punt here with the wind. Tannehill punts it down to the 2 yd line out of bounds, but a flag on the play. A 65 yd punt. Personal foul tripping against Stephenville will take the ball half the distance to the one yard line, haha.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:07 PM
1st and 10 Jackets from the 1 yd. line. Stidham sails it way over the receiver's head as he is hit hard in the end zone.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:08 PM
Williams gets it on a pitch out to the 10. 3rd and 1 now from the 10.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:08 PM
Offsides Jackets. Now it's 3rd and 6 against the wind here.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:13 PM

Kick into the wind to the BS 31 on a squib kick with now return. 1:38 left in the half with one timeout left for BS. Tannehill starts at their own 32 here. That run picks up 5 yds.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:16 PM
3rd and 5 now. Clock is stopped. Tannehill will throw incomplete stops the clock with 1:37. Tannehill will punt.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:17 PM
Tannehill punts it out of bounds at the Jacket 23 with one minute and 2 time outs left in the half.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:18 PM
1st down at the 33 with 33 secs. left. Throws to Williams out of bounds at the 36.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:19 PM
Stidham keeps it on a run past midfield and goes out of bounds in BS territory.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:19 PM
Stidham hits Brown to the BS 31 yd. line and stops the clock for the first with 20 secs. left.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:21 PM
Williams takes the throw on a crossing pattern as Stidham had all day to the 13.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:21 PM
Jackets down to the 2 yd. line and calls timeout with 2 secs left in the half.

regaleagle

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:23 PM

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:36 PM
The Jackets will take the 2nd half kickoff WITH the wind to start the 2nd half with an 18 point lead. Unless Big Spring can somehow get some stops in the 3rd quarter, things are looking very bright here for the Yellowjackets and bleak for the Steers. The wind will work in the favor of Stephenville and Stidham in this game to start the 2nd half with a big lead.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 04:54 PM
Actually Stephenvillle is INTO the wind here to start the 2nd half. They start from the 25 and run it out to the Stephenville 48 for a firstdown.

wyliefan
11-28-2014, 04:57 PM
First half observations. The three turnovers really hurt BS, took their crowd out of the game in my opinion. Also I think BS being against the wind also hurt them. The o-line for STephenville has given Stidham all day to throw and opened up several big holes for the running game. Unless BS can stop Stephenville 3 times in the second half this game is probably over. Safe travels home for both fan bases. Hopefully Wylie will move on and play one of this two fine programs next week.

wyliegrad04
11-28-2014, 04:59 PM
up 45-20, this game might be over. Sville capitalized on some turn overs and came to play. Big Spring got overwhelmed in the first quarter and that has been the difference.

regaleagle
11-28-2014, 05:00 PM
The Jackets score again on their first possession of the 2nd half. I don't think Big Spring has much of a defense. They are saying Stidham has all day to throw and could also run it at will. This game is basically over now....sorry BS fans, but that's just the way it looks.

With out talking too much, all I want to say is this, the Jackets looked good! As always there are things to fix, but after today's performance I like our chances. In a rematch, Stephenville football handles Big Spring this time

By Ryan Cox

Special to the Star-Telegram

ABILENE — The Stephenville Yellow Jackets continue to hit their stride in the postseason, amassing 604 yards of offense in a 59-32 rout of Big Spring in a Class 4A Division I Regional round game Friday at Shotwell Stadium.

Stephenville fell to Big Spring 64-57 on the road in Week 9, but the defeat came without all-state quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who broke his throwing hand on the opening drive of the game.

A rematch is exactly what Stephenville wanted and they wasted no time in showing who the better team was. After an early 7-0 deficit, Stephenville took their offense to a whole different level, needing only five plays to score three touchdowns that took only 34 seconds in the first quarter.

Stidham tossed three first-quarter touchdowns, two of which went to Austin Stufflebean, while adding a rushing touchdown, too.

Stidham, a Texas Tech signee, returned last week after missing a month from right hand surgery. He accounted for nine touchdowns in a win against Lubbock Estacado.

The dual-threat quarterback followed that up Friday by going 15-of-20 passing for 277 yards and four touchdowns and adding another 175 yards on the ground with three more scores.

“I think everything is working on all cylinders for us,” Stidham said. “I knew we could do some stuff on offense that would work and sure enough it worked out. I’m just glad to be able to keep playing in December.”

In the regular-season loss, Stephenville‘s defense gave up 592 yards to Big Spring. Stephenville knows they can score with anyone, but the Yellow Jackets needed to make improvements on the defensive side of the ball if they were going to move on.

This time, Big Spring (9-3) gained 407 yards on offense, but only 95 passing yards for quarterback Tobyn Tannehill. Stephenville sacked Tannehill three times and forced him to throw the ball away another six times, preventing the high-scoring Steers from establishing any momentum.

Stephenville led 52-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

“This was a great team win. If we continue to play like that, we have a good chance to keep this rolling,” Stephenville coach Joseph Gillespie said. “This was probably the most complete win of the season.”

Sophomore running back Kaegun Williams racked up 131 yards on the ground and another 130 yards receiving. Williams’ 12-yard touchdown run in the third quarter made him Stephenville’s all-time career touchdown leader.

Stephenville meets Abilene Wylie or Graham Dec. 5 in the Class 4A Division I state quarterfinals. If it’s Graham it’s at 7:30 p..m. at Mineral Wells. If it’s Abilene Wylie 7:30 p.m. at Brownwood.

Thank you Caprocker. Big Spring deserves some credit. They played hard. I believe too many of your best players got worn out playing every play on offense, defense and special teams. Stephenville has another gear this time of year. Combined with getting healthy makes us exponentially more dangerous.

I been trying to refrain, cause I don't want to sound too much like a Stephenville hater. I been trying to stay out of the thread. But you guys are all a buncha the biggest kool-aid drinking, blue and gold glasses wearing, bonafide delusional homers I have ever seen. I believe some of you really were abducted. It's comical to come in here every week and see "I love what they are doing on the defensive side" or "I love those changes". You guys sound ridiculous. BS is putting up 60 no matter what you guys say. Will SV put up 61? Ya, I believe they will. I love the support, but guys sometimes it's just better left unsaid. Especially when referring to Ville's D. Ok, anyway please proceed. I hope y'all can get towards Dallas or close East soon and I'll come check out Stidham and the Jackets. Would love to see that offense. Maybe I'll see y'all in Jerry World.

No, actually on this very page somebody posted they were 3 or 4 plays from being great. Look I'm not running down the defense at all. Read the post. Wow! I expected a win and for the VILLE to win by 21, but the way they controlled the game and how the defense played today... It's playoff mode for the Jackets! The coaches have so much experience in building confidence and making adjustments every week to improve. It's like a snow ball rolling down a steep hill... It builds and feeds off itself continuing to get bigger, stronger and faster. Jackets will be a tough out from here on out. Live to play another week! Great season Big Spring. Solid team who made this Jacket team better.

To all the naysayers, it's easy to judge a team from afar or from just being able to see them play one or two times or just reading in the newspaper or message boards... but for those of us that have had the privilege of watching this team grow each week and continue to work their tails off, they're more than meets the eye or newspaper title or scoreboard or whatever you wish on them. This team is in it to live to play another week!

First positive changes I have seen the coaches make all year on D... Good Job. Best game I have seen from them this year.
