I'm starting my campaign to get Charles Huffman (Rice Cons. Rb) on the cover of next year's 3A section in Dave Campbell's.

211 carries 1,873 yds 24 td's

8.9 per carry

Who's with me?

Not me. Chandler Dane QB for Decatur has 6,000 yards passing and has one more year to go. Without injury, he should be in the top 5 all time QB's passing yards in Texas HS football history, classes 1A through 5A. Mr huffman will not be in the top 5 total yards for his position when he is done in HS.

Terrius Purvey could be it

If Rice stays 3A, I like Huffman.

Crow 22. I thought Rice would be a lock at staying 3A. What is the word? Hufmann would be my vote as well.

My vote goes to Dane of Decatur. 1800 -2000 yd rushers are a dime a dozen. 3000 yd passers are few and far between.

I forgot about Tank. If Marlin wins the title, Tank has a great shot at making coverboy.

Huffman is great power back for his size. They had a one two punch this year and have one next year. Huffman/Sanford will be good. But they loose key figures on an athletic offensive line.

Huffman was the only wepon that Rice seemed to have late against PI when Spears went out. He scored on a 86 yrd run to get the game to OT and carried most of the load in the four overtimes. He is tough kid, may not have DI size but he plays like it.

If his team wins the title I think you have a valid point. The Tarpons are poised to stand in the way. :)
Those guys are pretty good. They beat Rice who was supposed to match up good with Bellville or Marlin. Just some food for thought, 22... wink

However, IN MY OPINION (and that's key), seeing Bellville play Rice, and Marlin, I feel like Marlin was a better team than Rice. I think both Bellville and Marlin would have beaten Rice at this point, the Raiders were just to one-dimensional for me, and very much lacked special teams. I think Marlin will have to make some mistakes for PI to win. Again, this is all MY opinion.

That's why they play the games though, I prefer a little BBQ sauce with my crow.

Good luck to both Marlin and PI.

With his good looks and flair, I think the cover should be adorned with Bellville22!

Rice is just an "also-ran" team and there are at least 4 people with better stats against stronger opposition. On the other hand, Dane from Decatur, as an individual, stands out above the crowd. Three thousand yards is a spectacular performance!

I've seen Tank Smith play, I've seen Charles Huffman play, and I've seen Terrius Purvey play.

Terrius Purvey, IMHO, is the best of the 3, and I think he deserves to be the coverboy.

Haven't seen Dane, hear he's good, but I think after winning the title, Purvey should get it.
