OG didn't skip a beat when Hondo went down, but then again Ingleside is no Wimberley. Ingleside couldn't do much against OG defense. They had the speed to cover all their play makers. Just don't know if it will be enough against the Texans.

I suspect the Texan defense will be a might bit tougher to score against this coming week. I expected Ingleside to give OG a better game, and that didn't happen. Evidently, OG is pretty darn good even with their starting qb out. Still taking Wimbo in this one. :smoker:

OG coaching staff didn't change the game plan when backup came in, they kept attacking with the pass and mix in the run game with good results. I would say OG with no problem if Hondo Harris was still at qb but now its going to be a close game, still think OG takes this game in a good one.

Got friends in OG and they are good folks. I don't know how the backup QB is gonna be but it sounded as though he stepped right in during the Ingleside game and took over. I know the Harris (1sr QB) kid is a gamer but it doesn't sound like he will be back this season. I am picking the OG Bulldogs to pull out the win.

Thought Ingleside was a little better than that, too bad.

all the credit goes to OG and their coaching staff, this is the worst season Ingleside has had in the last 11 years.......I believe its because our offense we are trying to run this year, but that's a whole other story and the defense is even worse.....this D coordinator doesn't have a clue and never seems to make halftime adjustments.....expect us to be worse next year if things don't change soon.:dispntd:

I always thought it took more smart athletes (OL) than a couple stud players, to run the slot T.

From what I've seen watching their freshman and junior high teams they do have strong athletic linemen. They do have some strong running backs but not the stud breakaway back. And I also have not seen a solid passing QB coming up. But when they did run the Slot T this year games were a lot more competitive then they have been in the past

Well. Pearsall played OG last year with Harris in and Wimberley this year. We scored twice a year ago and could not budge an inch, even against Wimbo's backups this year. OG put up 57 on us and Wimbo 48; but could have called their number on us. Not that it means a whole lot but that's my take. Don't know how much better OG is this year.

I noticed that only 1 of OG's 10 regular season opponents are still playing -- and that 1 (Rockport-Fulton) beat OG.

6 of Wimberley's 9 regular season opponents are still playing -- Wimberley went 3-3 against them.

2 of OGs opponents got beat by Cuero and Yoekum... I hate to say this but generally the teams from that district and south don't go very far. OG, Port Isabelle and some of the bigger schools are the exception. Not trying to be mean just stating my opinion.

Texans will walk on that field with a fairly good resume', played some good teams and been challenged. To me their defining game was Canyon Lake, it's not over till it's over baby! To lose this game they will have to beat themselves, , , and they can do that. Protect the ball.

Protect the ball.To win this game they better be prepared to stop OG offense, the backup qb played well when he came in, they didn't change the game plan and kept attacking down field, mixed in with screens and runs. Their defense has improved from last season as majority return, think 8 starters. Wimberley is in for a surprise if they think they're facing a Pearsall type of team.

True they didn't miss a beat, but it was against an Ingleside team that appeared to have already quit. Just my 2 cents. The defense held Mr. Gross in check all night! This will either be a really good game or a blow out. How's that for a prediction? Either way, I'll be there!

Not a drop of rain at the game ( a bit windy) but if you stayed home because the turds were definitely floating in Wimberley then you missed a great game. Well, minus the 11 penalties by the Texans. I think 9 were holding calls. OG has a stout team. Some beefy boys on defense that gave our OL fits. Their backup QB played admirably and could throw a decent deep ball. Hats off to our defense. The RB #20 Martinez kid had 66 total rushing yds ... (250+ last week against the Stangs) Congrats to the Bulldogs for a great game and season. So proud of the Texans, especially the D and also our QB #10 Cerday. What a great int return for a TD that #5 Mireles made. Go Texans!! Oh yeah..thanks Texans for a great B-day gift.

You won't find many defensive tackles better than #50 for OG.

I feel bad for OG, because that game could have been completely different with Harris, but we'll never know. Their backup just didn't have it. Makes me wonder how bad Ingleside's D is.

Now, to the officiating. I counted 9 holding penalties and 2 unsportsmanlike conducts on Wimberley. Both of the UC's looked to be fair calls. I saw 6 of the holds happen, and yes, technically, all 6 were holdings. But that was some NFL officiating, where you call absolutely everything. In high school, you let the kids play and throw the flag if the infraction makes a difference on the play. We had two holding penalties on punts that we fair caught. That's ridiculous. You could tell it was out of hand when the back judge called offensive pass interference on a screen pass. The guy was literally 30+ yards down field and he threw a flag even though he's the only guy in the stadium who couldn't see that the pass was caught behind the line of scrimmage, and there's the side judge *ON* the line of scrimmage right by the play who didn't call anything. To the crew's credit, they picked it up, but the fact that the guy even threw that flag tells me that he was out of control.

Also, by my count, we gained 130 yards on our last TD drive. We started on our own 5, and had two holds and an unsportsmanlike conduct to overcome.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought we absolutely sold out on the run and dared their QB to beat us. He hit some big plays, but he didn't handle the pressure well and couldn't consistently move the chains.

Remember when they were inside our 20 with three minutes left? Two straight sacks,

I didn't mean to imply he was terrible, but he wasn't Hondo Harris.

Yeah, they were definitely bad sacks..not that he had someone to throw to but he held onto the ball much too long and hurt them on that series. I try to be sympathetic to injuries such as the one for Harris but I always look back to Wimberley's attrition year of 2010..no sympathy there for the Texans. Oh yeah...that #50 for OG was an absolute beast!!
