Wylie stripped Cedric Battle and recovered the fumble to get the ball on their own 32 as Hirschi was driving. Now Wylie is driving at the Hirschi 28. Now Wylie is down to the Wylie 8. Pass was incomplete out of the back line of the end zone. 3rd and goal from the 6 for Wylie now. Football is bobbled off the snap and Hirschi recovers the fumble inside the 10, WOW!! Now there's goes Battle down to the Wylie 34 for a 64 yd. run for the Huskies.

Time out called by Hirschi. Now the broadcast team is saying they are not sure that Battle is even in the game, and that the rb with the long gain may be a JV player called up for this game....if Battle is not playing this game. They will get the word at the end of the quarter here. Hirschi throws a deep ball that is picked off by Wylie in the end zone, by Johnston. 3rd turnover by Hirschi in the 1st quarter as Wylie has 2 also so far. Cold weather, folks. Actually, Wylie intercepted that ball short of the goal line and started at about the 2. Now they are out to about 8. Now Wylie takes it out to the 17 for a first down. That's the end of the first.

Kickoff by Wylie is returned by Hirschi to their own 40 to start with 6:21 left in the 2nd. Yes, that was a snap to Battle for basically no gain. He had over 500 yds. in a single game last week rushing. If he only had a team with a better line......

There's goes Battle just shy of the 50 at the 48 yd. line. 4th and 2 for Hirschi. They will go for it in a full house ballfield. On a snap to Battle, he is stopped, then fights, then the pile is still moving...then he pops out and runs for a TD, but they are bringing it back saying its dead. First down by Wichita Falls just beyond midfield.

Hirschi is asking the official for a consultation....no signal for a time out as a stoppage occurs with the play clock stopped. Still waiting for play. It's not yet called a time out for Hirschi. Back to action....a toss to Brown is stacked up for a loss of 5 back to the Hirschi 47.

2nd and 14 to Battle is stopped at the sideline with a one on one force out. 3rd and 12 from the Hirschi 47. Battle scrambles from one side of the backfield to the other, but flags are flying. They boxed Battle in on that one. Penalty is called against Hirschi blocked in the back. Wylie declines it. 4th and 12 HIrschi piunts it down to the Wylie 28. He is tackled immediatelly. Wylie ball.

That's the end of the half. Battle reeled off back-to-back runs there for about 35 yds, but ran out of time. He plays a hybrid tailback/quarterback type runner/passer kind of like being in the Wildcat most of the time.

Brown for Hirschi takes the 2nd half kickoff out to the 32. Battle keeps it out of the Wildcat for 2. 2nd and 8 as Battle hands it off for a Hirschi loss. Maybe Battle should just keep it. 3rd and 8 goes for a pass as he is almost sacked. Punt by Hirschi as Daniels for Wylie handles it. Wylie ball at their own 36. Kleffner off right tackle on first for 5 yds.

Kleffner dropped at the Hirschi 49 on that run. Incomplete to Baker across the middle on a drag pattern too far out in front of him.

Carey throws deep on the money to Kleffner but he is unable to hold on to it. Good deep ball by Carey there, but it is extremely cold out there. Punt by Wylie is marked at the one yard line on a 48 yd. punt that was downed before his momentum carried him into the end zone with the ball. I don't know if that's the correct call in high school though.

A fumbled snap out of the end zone is recovered by Hirschi for a safety. Now the Huskies will be forced with a free kick to Wylie.

Six minutes left in the 3rd as Kleffner scores off the right side for another Wylie score. The safety set that drive up with a short field for Wylie to capitalize on. Wylie gets 2 on the extra point as Carey throws it for the successful conversion.

It looks like the Wylie Bulldog D has showed up here in the 2nd half to virtually shut down these Huskies on offense. It may be a long 2nd half for Hirschi now.

Well heck, on 3rd and 10 Brown for Hirschi runs 11 yds for a first down. Brown runs it again for more yardage, but big boy Baker stops him after a 5 yd gain.

The weather is probably around freezing on the field, but the players don't feel a thing. The ball is slick and hard though. Hirschi goes for another first to the Wylie 47.

Battle takes it to the Wylie 36 yd line now. 2nd and 4 now. Battle scrambles to pass but Wylie swarms him for a loss of one on that play.

Ugly game to start then we cranked it up and did what we do--shut down defense and run the ball to eat up clock. Hirshi wasn't as bad behaved as I had feared--did have a few UC penalties. Was very good to see Kleffner get back into form. Over a hundred yards and 3 TD's in his first real game back from injury since the Liberty Hill game. Boys will prob appreciate the extra rest day... safe travels to all playing tonight and tomorrow!
