Don't know much about PI but I'll do a 2nd straight homer pick and go with the Pirates by 21.

 what? haha

Port Isabel might be down to some 2nd & 3rd stringers, but they are well coached program and I expect them to give us a good test with their running game. Close first half, but then the Pirates pull away.

Anyone know the record? I know we lost to them 3 years ago, but can't remember when we've played them before and the results?

FYI - we are the home team and can play our music :D

Down to their 4th string qb in Raymondville game. In OG game they didn't look comfortable passing the ball once they fell behind. Their run game is still good and their defense against the run.

Injuries have completely decimated the Tarpons in the last half of the season, so take it easy on us, Sinton.

And yes, PI is down to their 4th QB. Colorado, Mock, and Hernandez are all hurt. It's basically the JV QB that will be starting. I believe his last name is Green. There are also 2 JV linemen starting on the OL due to injuries

Um, PI doesn't run a Slot-T. They run Power I, Option, Veer, Maryland I, 2-back sets.

PI wouldn't mind going back to the Slot-T in the future, but that's another subject for another time.

PI had two drives stall deep in Sinton territory. And I heard there weren't as many fumbles as there were in previous weeks, but penalties were PI's Achilles's heel tonight.

That #2 for PI and #21 both have good speed and quickness. Are they the regulars or did they get moved up due to injuries to other players.??? PI was able to move the ball but some costly penalties made 4th and 1 a 4th and 6 a few times. Was worried #2 wasn't going to get up after the first Play PI had the ball. Was glad to see him return to the game?

KINGSVILLE — All week, Sinton football coach Tom Allen preached to his team the importance of getting off to a fast start and his Pirates did that en route to a 52-22 victory over Port Isabel on Friday night at Javelina Stadium.

Sinton will next face Hondo at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Converse Judson or La Vernia.

The Pirates needed just 92 seconds to get on the scoreboard. After Tyler Handson connected with Mark Villarreal on a 41-yard strike through the air to open the game, Handson carried the ball for a 7-yard score.

"Coach gave us a really good pregame speech about the importance of not starting slow," Villarreal said. "We started fast and were able to take it to them the whole game."

"Both teams were a little banged up coming in," said Allen, whose defense played without five starters and still limited to 199 yards of total offense. "We talked about the importance of getting off to a fast start so we could remind them how young they were. If you don't get after them, they begin to think they are older than they are.

"The defense had a solid night even without five starters. They did a good job of executing our game plan and got after it pretty good. We asked them to play like (injured defensive end) Rob Knox does and they did that."

Sinton, which did not punt and scored on all but one possession, needed just 2:14 to score on its second possession. Villarreal pulled in his first of two first half TD receptions on a 35-yard pass from Handson.

J.J. Gonzalez, who had 142 first-half yards rushing on the night, took the ensuing kickoff 81 yards for the Tarpons' only points of the game.

Colton Cohea accounted for the final points of the first quarter with a 12-yard run that capped a nine-play drive at the 1:06 mark.

In the second period, Handson carried the ball in for a 3-yard touchdown. He then closed out the half by connecting with Villarreal on a 20-yard touchdown with 15 seconds left in the half as Sinton led 33-7 at the break.

"Tyler and I worked together all summer and it is paying off," said Villarreal, who finished with four catches for 111 yards. "We just need to keep doing this all through the playoffs."

After the defense stopped the Tarpons on fourth down to open the second half, Handson would use his legs again to pad the lead, 40-7. On fourth and 1, the senior managed to get around the corner and race 39 yards for the score. He finished with 131 yards on 16 carries.

Port Isabel answered with its second kickoff return for a score as Marco Colorado, who added a 5-yard TD run late in the fourth, danced 67 yards for the visitors. The backup quarterback then connected with Raul Villarreal on the conversion to make it a 40-15 game with 3:17 left in the third.

Colorado was filling in for Javier Hernandez, who did not return after being injured on a 3-yard run on the Tarpons' first offensive play.

Handson opened the fourth with his third touchdown pass of the game connecting with Cohea on a 9-yard pass. He finished with 247 yards on 13-of-22 passing.

Cohea added the Pirates' final points returning his first interception of the year 41 yards for a touchdown.

#2 was Marco Colorado (#2 QB), and he was playing with a broken bone in his non-throwing hand. #21 was JJ Gonzalez. Both were playing with injuries, and both of them were Seniors. I wasn't at the game, but from the sound of it, #1 Trey Mock, PI's #1 QB did not play. I believe he had a concussion.
