Well it's all come down to this game for the District 6-4A D-1 title as expected. Some preseason pundits(me included) thought maybe Dallas Carter would be challenging for the title this season, but the Sanger Indians and the Carrollton Ranchview Wolves are still in the hunt. IF Sanger defeats Argyle, and Ranchview defeats Dallas Pinkston(which they should), then there will be a 3-way tie in the standings....all at 4-1. It will be one of those "we beat you, you beat them, and they beat us" type of deals. Argyle beat Ranchview 72-42, Ranchview beat Sanger 49-31, and Sanger will be attempting to beat Argyle in this final week in district play. In the Ranchview/Sanger game, Sanger's highly touted RB Tre'von Jackson went out early in the game with an injured ankle. I don't think he will be playing this week either. He's been out for the last two weeks since that injury, and I don't know if he will even be able to play in the playoffs. Jackson was leading the DFW area in rushing yards at that point(1401 yds/6 gms/233.5 yds/gm), but Sanger has still managed to win easily and big since then with their other RB's and qb. They have a formidable offense....even without Jackson. Can they stop Argyle's offense though?

The game will be played in Sanger, and they have a "few" scores to settle up with the Eagles from over the years. Argyle is (5-1) against Sanger with a 5-game winning streak that dates back to the 2006 loss. The last meeting between the teams was in 2011. I'm certain this game will draw a standing room only crowd for this battle. The schools are less than 20 mins. drive from each other. Texas Bob's shows the seating capacity at only 2500 unless they updated lately. Their field is turf and the facility is small but nice. I'm expecting a very hard-hitting, offensive game with quite a few points scored by both teams. It should be an exciting one for the fans to watch. You can bet your boots Sanger will be chomping at the bits to play this one against Argyle. It's been a few years, and they naturally feel they can give Argyle a big "payback" with the quality team they have this season.

Sanger lost their qb last week. Eagles roll the indians by 21.

Wish both of these teams could meet at full strength. Sanger's loss of their outstanding RB really hurt, and now if they have lost their QB, it will really hurt. I have always enjoyed watching the Bulls play both of these teams in years past---both have great kids who play hard and clean. I think Argyle will take this one by 14 or so, and be poised to make a significant playoff run.

Well, I guess that blows this thread, huh? I was fixin' to list all the stats of both teams, but now we can throw that out the window. Argyle is reasonably healthy as far as I know. Is this correct, firstdown? Do you know of any injuries on the Argyle team that are key starters that will not be able to go in the playoffs?

Fairly certain we wouldn't be posting injury reports on the thread, healthy or not.

So here we are. Argyle is 9-0 and playing for another outright district championship tonight at Sanger. When the schedule came out, which included a very tough non-district schedule vs Wylie, Graham, Celina, Paris and 5A Denison you would have been hard pressed to find an Argyllian that would have predicted we would be undefeated at this point. Though there is a ton of talent on the team, they are really young. The thought was that they would get better as the year progressed. Well that's definitely the case but they were also winning early while working out some kinks. Kudos to the Argyle coaching staff. They are REALLY good.

I have mentioned on other threads that the future is bright for Argyle. Now I will say the present looks very bright as well.
Tonight will be a tough test for the Eagles but I have full confidence that they are up to the task. I am a believer.
Time to get into the playoff groove. LETS GO EAGLES!!!

Gametime in Sanger, population 7415, in N. Texas 15 miles north of Denton on I-35 to Gainesville. Looks like about 3500 folks from Sanger are at this game. Argyle wins the toss and will be receiving. Wind is not a factor. The temperature is cool....a perfect night in N. Texas for high school football. This is a rivalry game between Argyle and Sanger. They are very competitive in just about every sport over the years. Sanger will be running the read option with one qb and the qb (Brandon Mann) that was injured last week may enter later....it is not known the extent of his left knee injury....but he can run and throw it quite well.

Sanger wearing purple and Argyle in all white with the Red lettering. Short kick caught at the 30 on a pooch kick fair catch to start the game. Eagles give it to Ralston who gets stopped right at the line of scrimmage. Sanger penetrated the LOS well....they have a great defense. Jet sweep makes about 6 yds. for Argyle .

3rd and 4 and Rodgers hits McCook on a pass for a first, but he drops it. Argyle will punt after a 3 and out. The punt goes down to the Sanger 22. Sanger starts on offense now.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:35 PM
Freshman CJ Jackson will be at qb and hands it off to a soph for a gain of a couple to start on first. Jackson throws a completion to Hollowell for a first down. Now Grant Carter, a junior, comes in at qb and runs a keeper on the read option. He picks up 4 yds. and has much speed. He went around the corner on that one. Now CJ Jackson is back in @qb and he's thrown for a yard loss.

On 3rd and 7 Jackson throws it incomplete for Sanger. Very athletic Oline for Sanger. Sanger punts it out of bounds at the Argyle 30. The Indians ain't no slouch of a team, they have good size and speed, and a very good defense. Looks like Sanger will be a very good test for Argyle tonite.

11-07-2014, 08:38 PM
Rodgers hits Estrada for a first down at the Sanger 41 as he is hit hard but makes a great catch on a high pass.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:40 PM
Ralston picks up 15 on that one down to the Sanger 35. Rodgers hits Estrada on a low pass down to the 28. Ralston takes it 12 yds. down to the 16 for another first.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:44 PM
The Sanger D has Argyle 3rd and 11 now. Rodgers hits JC Chalk at the 5 yd. line and Chalk takes it down to the 2 yd. line. Sanger's rotating Dlines in and out . Ralston takes it in around the left side for the first TD of the night... a 70 yd. drive. The extra point is good.

Argyle strikes first and the score is 7-0 still in the first quarter. Sanger is rotating about 8 guys on defense so far tonite in and out. They should stay fresh tonite.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:45 PM
Argyle kicks off and Argyle gets the Sechrist fumble, but now the refs are saying the ball was dead as Sechrist fumbled when he hit the ground.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:49 PM
Sanger still rotating the fresh qb off the JV team Jackson with the junior running qb Carter. The fresh qb looks pretty good. Lots of purple jerseys going on and off the field every single play as the player rotation for Sanger continues on offense. Just tons of players in and out for Sanger on both offense and defense. Sanger punts it back to Argyle down to the Argyle 22.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:50 PM
Rodgers hits Chalk as he fully extends for that catch down to the Argyle 42. Now Ralston takes it 15 yds. to the Sanger 45 for a firstdown.

Final play of the 1st quarter here. Argyle 7-0 here in Sanger.

11-07-2014, 08:53 PM
2nd and 10 as Rodgers throws it high to McCook incomplete. Rodgers throws a low one for only a gain of 3. 4th and 7 on the Sanger 42 for Argyle. Argyle punts it down to the Sanger 8 yd. line as Estrada punts it out of bounds there. Nice punt by Estrada.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:55 PM
2nd and 10 now for Indians from their own 8 yd. line. Jackson takes it out to the 20 yd line for Sanger but a flag down....offsides against Argyle. First down for Sanger at their own 20.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:57 PM
Grant Carter gains 2 on a read option for Sanger as Bearden makes the stop. Now Jackson is back at qb and sacks him. Sanger will have to punt again. Jackson saw much pressure there.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:57 PM
Dakota Branch punts it only about 20 yds. to the Argyle 45 on a low punt.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 08:59 PM
Cooper Rodgers throws an out and Sechrist intercepts it for his 5th interception of the year. Sechrist read that one all the way. Rodgers just didn't see him. Sechrist stepped out of bounds after the interception.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:01 PM
Sanger 3rd and 6 now at their own 38. A deep pass is overthrown, but really the receiver quit his route. The pass looked to be the right trajectory if the receiver continues his route. Sanger punts to Argyle again.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:04 PM
Rodgers throws a deep ball to Estrada that he can't quite haul in. 3rd and 7 from the Argyle 35. Rodgers is being chased from the backside and overthrows Estrada again. Argyle will punt and punts it over the head of Jackson 67 yds. down to the Sanger 8. Heckuva punt there by Estrada.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:08 PM
Looked like intentional grounding by Sanger there, but the refs didn't call it. Now CJ Jackson tries an inside screen to Sechrist, but Dane Ledford lowers the boom on him. Flag against Sanger on a chopblock though. Sechrist is a senior and comes of the field limping a little bit. 4th and 4 for Sanger deep in their own end. They will punt it again.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:11 PM
Nice high spiraling punt to Markwardt as he takes it on the Argyle 45 and is hit immediately. Flag on the play against Sanger for motion. They will repunt apparently. Dakota Branch knuckle balls it from the Sanger end zone out to the Argyle 30 yd. line for great Eagle field position.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:12 PM
Ralston takes it 14 yds down to the Sanger 15 yd. line as he takes a shot. Estrada takes it down to the 5 yd line as an Indian is ejected for swinging at an Argyle player right in front of the official. He's arguing with the official as he is escorted off the field.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:14 PM
Ralston takes it 2 yds in the for the touchdown off the right tackle.

Argyle 14

2:14 left in the 2nd

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:17 PM
Argyle kickoff to Sanger and is hit hard at the 15 yd. line. Sanger starts 1st and 10 at their own 17. Snap is loose but Sanger gets back on it. 2nd down now. Jackson heaves one downfield but it's incomplete. 3rd down for Sanger now and 16 from the 11.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:18 PM
Quick hitter to Turner Barnes outside goes nowhere for Sanger as he is hit very very hard. Timeout Sanger. It will be 4th and 16.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:20 PM
McCook takes the punt at the 30 yd. line and is hit immediately. He took the punt on a bounce instead of letting it go and saved about 20 yds. McCook now takes it 9 yds. Ralston takes it 11 down to the Sanger 9. Sanger is hitting hard and is very physical, but the Oline is just very physical for Argyle.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:23 PM
2nd and goal from the 6 and Ralston hits the line hard and nails a defender at the goal line as he wallops the defender and drives him in the air 5 yds into the end zone.

Sanger is at their own 35 on 2nd down and throws it deep. Argyle's Zack Zembraski almost intercepts it, and it almost is offensivie interference. Johnny Alday for Argyle sacks Jackson back at the Sanger 15. Now Sanger will have to punt it again with only 25 secs left in the half.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:27 PM
Alday came over from Liberty Christian to finish his high school career here with the Eagles. He's a senior this season, but played several years for Liberty Christian.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 09:31 PM
Argyle in a hurry-up offense as Rodgers takes off and a flag is thrown. Motion. Now Rodgers spikes the ball. 3rd and 11 for Argyle with about 12 secs left. Rodgers throws it deep over the middle to Estrada on the money and it's a TD!!! With only 2 secs left in the half.....unbelievable pass and catch by these two Eagles. That was just an accurate throw on that 32 yd grab fully extended at full speed.

Argyle 28
Sanger 0

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:07 PM
Sanger starts the 2nd half at their own 15 but a nice gain for Sanger on 1st down to the 24. Sanger has lots of seniors here and have a very physical and good team. They are not 8-1 for nothing, but have their best two players missing now from the lineup. A bad snap over the head of Jackson and Argyle gets the ball in the end zone for a safety. Bad break for the Sanger offense there. Now they will have to free kick it to Argyle. Argyle 30-0 on that gift.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:11 PM
Argyle gets the free kick at their own 35 and runs it back to the 45. Ralston runs into his own blocker on 2nd down around the right side. Rodgers throws a deep ball over the back shoulder of double-covered Hunter Markwardt down at the 5 and he is immediately tackled at the 2. What a great throw by Rodgers as the only way he could complete it was exactly where he threw it over the defenders heads and Markwardts shoulder for a basket catch near the sideline. Ralston runs it over from the 2 now. TD Argyle.

Argyle 37
Sanger 0

Early in the 3rd.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:12 PM
Sanger starts at the 20 after the kickoff. Sanger takes it out the 26 on first. Jackson keeps it on a zone option and is hit at the LOS by Hudson Speed.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:14 PM
Hayden Knight only gains a yard as Taylor Sweatt makes the stop. 4th and 3 now for Sanger. They go for it as Jackson keeps it for a first down on a 15 yd. run. Nice run by the freshman qb Jackson as that is the only the 3rd firstdown for Sanger. Now Carter at qb takes the read option for another firstdown for 11 yds. to their 47.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:17 PM
Jacob Forrer levels Jackson that time for a yard loss on that read option. 2nd and 11 for Sanger now. 2 yds. for Sanger. 3rd down as Forrer sacks Jackson....he fumbles it, Argyle falls on it and loses it back to a Sanger lineman. 4th down Sanger as they punt it back to Argyle.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:19 PM
Argyle has it on the 33 as they gain 5 on first. Eric Ramon's first carry of the night goes for 12 yds. and a firstdown. He spells Ralston and is a senior. Now Cooper Rodgers hits Hunter Markwardt on a rope for 26 yds and another Argyle TD. Markwardt is the fastest player on the field tonite and was wide open running free there.

Argyle 44
Sanger 0

Still in the 3rd

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:22 PM
Argyle squib kicks it and Sanger fields it and takes it back to the 37. Jackson picks up 2 on first. Turner Barnes picks up 14 on a nice run for Sanger now, but the backups are now in for Argyle.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:23 PM
Now Barnes takes it another 10 yds. dragging a few Eagles with him. He's a junior 5'10 170 lbs for the Indians. Where's he been tonite? He looks like a good tough RB.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:26 PM
They are saying this Sanger team has a very impressive Oline and just hasn't done much against a good Argyle D tonite, but that this frontline for Sanger is impressive looking, nonetheless. They are really missing their star rb Tre'von Jackson and their starting qb Brandon Mann. Both are seniors. Maybe Mann will be back in the playoffs....I dunno.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:29 PM
Now Dane Ledford intercepts a screen pass that popped off of one player and Ledford grabs it out of the air at the Argyle 47. Now there's a flag after the interception. Looks like their trying to sort things out on the call. After the interception, it's a personal foul facemask against Argyle. Argyle will start at their own 20 with Dane Ledford at qb now. Ledford is a soph. and his Dad is one of the Argyle coaches. Ledford's older brother was an integral part of Argyle's team the past 3 seasons on varsity before graduating off last year's State Champion team.

End of 3rd

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:32 PM
Ledford hits Chalk for a big gain of 14 yds. there. 1st and 10 as senior Chase Carrick takes the ball for a 2 yd gain.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:34 PM
Now Sr. Trey Pruitt takes the ball, fumbles it and Chalk picks it up for Argyle. That's only the 6th fumble all year for Argyle and they haven't lost a fumble all year yet. Nick Ralston has over 600 carries in his career and has NEVER fumbled the ball.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:35 PM
Argyle snaps it back for a punt but it hits the blocker Markwardt and Sanger takes over in great field position. Hayden Knight takes it down to the Argyle 12 on first down.

regaleagle
11-07-2014, 10:39 PM
Now Knight has it down to the 2. Jackson is stopped just short of the goal line. 3rd down for Sanger now. They need to score here. Hayden Knight takes it in now for Sanger
s first score. TD Sanger and the extra point is good. Jackson will be the future qb for Sanger and as a freshman thrown in against Argyle tonite he will be a bright spot in the years to come for Sanger. They are not without some outstanding players on this team and will make some noise in the playoffs.

Argyle 44

11-07-2014, 10:46 PM
Most of these kids are coming into high school without ever losing a game in grade school as just about every year the 7th and 8th grade teams are going undefeated at Argyle. These boys are very athletic and have speed. Don't think since they are young they are not without skills and ability....they are athletic. The future looks very bright for both of these schools.

regaleagle

11-07-2014, 10:56 PM
The sophs are running the clock down and trying to maintain possession by making firstdowns. Looks like they will try a 44 yd field goal here.
