Darcel's Diary Part 3- Commitment made

Darcel McBath is a senior at Gainesville High School and is one of the most sought-after football recruits in North Texas. Each week until National Signing Day, he will share his experiences from the recruiting process.

I didn't make my trip to Notre Dame last weekend. I guess you could say
it was because of transportation problems, but I really didn't want to
go. I was just going to really see what everyone was yapping about with
the tradition and everything like that. But to me, I really wasn't
interested. It's a good school, but I really didn't think I would fit in
there. I really can't be that far away from my momma anyways.
Monday night I guess it was, I kind of decided where I wanted to go. I
talked to my mom and she told me "just do whatever you want to do." So I
called Coach Barr (Texas Tech assistant) and made a committment. But you
would be surprised how many phone calls I have gotten telling me to just
wait, to hold it, to wait until the fourth (Feb. 4), and this and that.
But I'm pretty sure on my decision.
When I made the call, it was a relief for about 2 minutes. But now it's
about the same. People are still calling.
I chose Tech because when I went there, I just felt comfortable. They
made me feel comfortable. They talked to me and got to know me and I got
to know them. I liked the campus. I just think it fits me well. And I
don't have to change my colors. I love the Red and Black.
