Alvarado indians @ #4 kennedale wildcats

Make no mistake..this is a rivalry game, since the 60s, the only teams Alvarado has played against more are Cedar Hill and Midlothian..and those were heated back in the day as well! The "anything can happen" cliche is definitly there, but this year's Wildcat team is the real deal!
Coach Barrett will not let his players take the Indians lightly..he knows better, and, because he is an outstanding coach!
The two coaching staffs are close and the players have played against each other since 1st/2nd grade..even when we are not in the same district, the HS teams scrimmage, and the JH teams schedule 2 games a season...heck, even our Bands are competetive with each other!!
This could very well be a Kennedale blowout, because, they ARE that good!! they are capable of blowing Any 4A team out Period!
or..this could be a Hotly contested game going to the last second...Believe me, the Indians will not back down, will come to play and will give supreme effort to defy the odds and work for the win..i have confidence in Coach Dixon and staff to come up with the plan..but, ultimately, it is up to the players to STAND TALL, PUT IN THE WORK, AND EXECUTE!! this game means everything, and i expect my team, The INDIANS, to play like it!!!

I like our chances against a running team! Other than a few big run plays, no one has beat us on the ground consistently this season. I like the rivalry aspect of this game also, strange things happen in rivalry games...

We've seen enough of the Slot-T and Wing-T run teams this season to be able to defend it well. Our Lb'ers will have to make their reads and react quickly! I like the challenge and our chances!

It's gonna be tough to stop that running attack Kennedale uses. They execute it to perfection, know how to open cracks in the line for their backs to slip thru, and the coaches look for the weakest link upfront and pound the ball there all night. A defense with great LB's is an invaluable asset against the Wildcats, as is a front line that is strong and quick. The secondary needs to play tighter than usual and help shut down the corners so the LB's can concentrate up the middle. Despite having a great defensive scheme against this team, it will be the big plays that the rbs are able to break that will lead to the scores. Does Alvarado have good speed in the secondary....I mean very good speed. You will need it against Kennedale. Good luck to the Indians this Friday night, but I just have a feeling turnovers will be at a minimum and ball control at a maximum. The Indians will be forced to pass more because of the long possessions that turn into scores. But maybe that will turn out to be just what the doctor ordered against these Wildcats.....I dunno. Looks like the Wildcat D is the unsung hero with 21 sacks on the season also....giving up less than 10 pts/game.

The key to this game for the Indians is holding on to the football! They have fumbled twice in the first half each of the last two weeks and they have accounted for 28 of the 41 points they've allowed in district. If the Indians can hold onto the football and not have drive-killing penalties like they did last week it will be close going into the fourth and you never know what can happen at that point.

Offense grinds the clock and scores only to pooch kick a 25 yard kick that gets returned on our side of the field twice. The last one with less than 2:30 left. You can't expect the defense to hold such a good offense starting inside our half of the field. Bad snap over the punters head inside our own 10 yard line. Basically the defense held a very powerful run offense most of the game. Clean up special team kick off coverage and penalties and we win this one going away. It was a great feeling seeing this team compete with such a quality team. Indians have a good chance to upset someone come playoff time.

Maybe all the development in/and around Kennedale has something to do with that..it's not like Kennedale has owned us recently, last time we played a meaningful game before tonite was in 2011 and that was a Alvarado route 55-0...

By the way Kennedale came out and as emotional as they played in the first quarter I would say Kennedale was pretty keyed up for the game. You can play it off like this was just another game for Kennedale but by actions on the field before, during and after the game - this game was very important to Kennedale.

Alvarado's overall record against Kennedale is 23-8-2..of course this game meant something to us,,every game means something considering the type of season we have had this year! Alvarado would never let a Kennedale team roll over us..they beat us this year,but, it wasnt 56-14..im sure they were glad to get win #8 against us..just like we will be glad to get #24 next year, when the score probably will be 56-14.
