I hope you're right and also hope the Bowl is packed. I know Monahans travels well, they always have.
Maybe being 7-0 and playing against the Loboes after being on the road for the last four weeks will
be enough to get the fair weather fans out then our side might have a good turn out as well.

This should be a great game lot at stake district title & Playoff placement. Loboes always look to peak & play there best football in October & Nov. December hard to predict this one. I do know Monahans played a very tough non district schedule & we're not healthy vs Andrews & Lub Cooper. But this is time of year were coach Owens puts it together. It's gonna be real hard to beat Loboes . Loboes by TD interesting to see how good Sweetwater is.

Why Stands are empty ?

If you're asking about the homeside then there are a couple of reasons.

1. The far section is for the band and students only.
2. The bottom of the section with the stadiums seats
is where no one likes to sit because you can barely
see over the players heads let alone follow the action
as it happens. It's a great spot if you want to hear the
pads pop and what's being said on the sideline. That's
about it.

Now if you're asking about Lubbock High's side then
I have no clue. They didn't have much more against
Andrews at Lowery a few weeks later.

Sweetwater's Kaegan Jeffrey earns FFN/ATCU Player of the Week honor

SWEETWATER, TX -

To the Mustang Bowl we go to find Football Friday Night's Week 7 Player of the Week winner.

Senior quarterback Kaegan Jeffrey of Sweetwater had a monster game on Friday against Midland Greenwood, throwing for more than 330 yards and four touchdowns, while adding another 48 yards rushing and a touchdown of his own.

Those stats were good enough to earn Jeffrey his first Player of the Week honor.

"Last year I was nominated a couple times but fell a little short," said Jeffrey at practice on Tuesday. "This year I feel like I've proved myself a little more, played a little better football, and it goes from there. My stats and everything kind of play out for themselves and this week it showed."

Jeffrey's progression into an elite quarterback has been steady. With constant improvement and a good work ethic this year, the hard work is all paying off.

"He's come a long way from his sophomore year to his senior year. He's on track to be probably the top passer again for Sweetwater High School," said head coach Shane Mobley.

His success on Friday night wasn't a surprise, especially when the men up front have been providing outstanding pass protection this season.

"There's no doubt, if K-J is getting hit in the backfield every single play, he wouldn't have the success he did," Mobley said. "First and foremost, there's no doubt those offensive linemen are doing their job."

"Every week they work their butts off to protect me and for the running backs and make the holes they do," said a thankful Jeffrey.

One aspect of his game that sets Jeffrey apart is his ability to read the defense, a skill that coach Mobley recognizes as one that enables him and the offense to function at such a high level.

"He anticipates what he's going to get and that really helps. So do the receivers,” Mobley said. “They're able to communicate, sometimes even communicate in route. They know what K-J is going to throw and he delivers it.”

There's no sign of No. 8 slowing down as the Sweetwater Mustangs prepare for Monahans on Friday, a challenge in which Jeffrey hopes to put up more big numbers, and help lead his team to keep their perfect record alive.

Breast cancer awareness is observed and fund raisers are held for the Susan G. Kommen Foundation
the week Sweetwater and Snyder play. They have done it for several years now and is something
that both teams and towns put a lot of effort into and take seriously.

Mustangs Ready For Match Up With Loboes

There's definitely a lot of history to the Sweetwater/Monahans rivalry, and that history has continued in recent years. Two years ago, Sweetwater was up in the fourth quarter, but let Monahans steal a win, last year the Mustangs went to their place and handed Monahans their only district loss, and cost them an outright district title. So, without question the two teams will be fired up when they take the field this Friday night.

Shane Mobley said, "It's been fun. We've already started talking about, you know it's a pride deal. Lots on the line, a guaranteed spot in the playoffs Friday night. Also fighting for a district title, and a lot of good history. So, its a fun game, it ought to be a great West Texas football game."

Ty Crane said, "The history has been here, and we're going to continue and hopefully going to come out with a win."

Kaegan Jeffery said, "How we beat Monahans last year, we went to their house, we beat them, and this year they're going to have all the confidence in the world that they can beat us. With us coming in at 7-0 and playing the way we've been playing and producing every week and just getting better every week, we feel like nobody can stop us no matter who they are."

Mobley said, "Our boys, they've had this one in the back of their minds for a long, long time, and they know that we're going to have to come out and play a great game to come out on top. We know this is for a district championship title, and it's been a long time since Sweetwater's had that opportunity to say that they're fighting for a district title. They're excited. These seniors have done a great job, and as team overall, they're excited."

Now the two teams will kick things off Friday night at 7:30 right here at the Mustang Bowl.

As a die hard Loboes Fan I can honestly say that Sweetwater is deserving of the District Title they will have soon. This is one of the fastest teams I have seen play in along time. They are balanced one end to the other. My buddy who traveled to the game with me made the statement that is appropriate at this time, "Speed Kills". We made too many mistakes anyway in this game and gave up too many easy scores. The best team won tonight and actually took us to the wood shed. Congrtulations Stangs and go as deep as you can. It is gonna be a good team that beats them if they lose.

First and foremost,on behalf of the Mustangs, thanks for the kind words.
Monahans posters keeping it classy. I'd expect nothing less from them.

Now, wow what a game. Obviously an incredibly huge win for these
seniors and the team. Now they need to avoid a let down and get ready
for the long road trip to Pecos.

As far as the game I truly expected the Loboes to run the ball right at us.
That's worked for most teams that were able to keep the score close.
Also, Monahans had success with bubble screens and running off tackle to
the weak side. Surprised that didn't go to it more.

Anyway, good luck to Lobo nation and who knows? We may very well meet
again down the road.

Oh and apologies for the double posts. Service was acting weird last night.

Glad to see Sweetwater back. I get nostalgic and long for the days when Sweetwater, Monahans, Andrews, FS, Pecos, SALV, BS, and Snyder were in the same district. Imagine how competitive that district would be this year!!!
