Love the confidence Brian. Trouble is, I have watched "video" as well. Key pieces Graham is missing. Celina Oline and Celina RB. Argyle got their butt whipped on defense no doubt. Out played, out physicaled, out schemed, out desired..... +Celina is really good on offense. This is an early season lesson for the Eagles. They cannot waltz into games, roll their helmets out, and expect to win. Too much complacency, and believe me, I am not taking anything away from Celina, they are really good on offense and played a tenacious game on D. However, this has be coming for Argyle. I have heard that this will be a very different week of preparation for Argyle and it started on Saturday morning. If Graham comes into Argyle and beats this team in its home opener after a loss they took on Friday, then hats off to you. There is a lot of pride in that locker room with some very talented players that are not happy with the way they played on Friday.

Not gonna give anymore details than this because I take what I hear as a grain of salt vs what I see, but I heard there's some changes been made. If it's true , I think you'll see some improvements for sure. For once , I'm not making a pick in this one. Two power programs have had a dose of reality, and whoever learns the most from it, makes adjustments needed no matter who it upsets, and is hungrier wins this game.

No i have not seen this particular article but yeah.. I think Patterson knows... he just keeping it quiet maybe and respect for Freeze.. I think I figured it out... but I'm not going to say what I think I know. That would be way stupid. Not that I don't say stupid things all the time I do. But this is way too important to say what I think and not to say what I know. I will say this ...Maybe it's a situation that requires reflection. I also think that we will be seeing him back on the field in a matter of weeks and this will just be a bump in the road of a potentially great career..

At this point I do not know Landry's situation. He was on crutches with ice packs on the leg.. A rumor is out about it being a broken bone, but I don't think you ice that down??.. Taking a knee is a bit of a small town tradition.. Something lost in the big city areas.. If the game were in Graham I would totally expect Argyle to respect it..but in the city folks don't seem to care as much. Good or bad it is just the truth.. Larger school 5a and above do not take the knee....just watch a few... Just goes to show.. Argyle is gonna be in the big city school mosh pit soon enough..I'd say in the next 6 or 7 years... This is funny to me....Argyle is a'country' town butted up to a bigger country town Denton. City by no strectch...you're in closer proximity to Krum and Sanger than you are to Dallas or Ft. Worth. Yes, you guys are experiencing growth, but don't drink the Kool-aid and lose what makes small town football special. Scroll up and look at those football players and cheerleaders at the elementary school. Arglye should invest in a little more of that than pining to ascend up the classification ranks, just so you can get thumped by teams like Denton Guyer.

I have a lot of respect for Arglye and the program that they have....and im sure, like most things, you are an outlier among the Argyle fatihful.....but don't get it twisted, you are what you are....a country town hoping for bigger and better things....but be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

Well panfan.. all I can say is this... I have been either covering or watching small town football for the last 30 years and they almost always take a knee.. almost 100% of the time.... every team ....every time ...every field.. I guess I just have not been to one of your games

Graham’s varsity volleyball squad relied on their tenacious defense to hold off Vernon (25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 26-24), sending them into Friday’s district opener with a six-game win streak intact.
“Our attitudes had a big role in how we played,” sophomore setter Jasmine Sims said. “We stayed positive and lifted each other up throughout the game.”
Although Vernon sported three players who were at least 6-feet, the Lady Blues kept their potent offense off balance with a resilient effort and effective game plan.
“I was very proud of our net play,” Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk said. “They had some of the better hitters we’ve seen in awhile. At the beginning of the game, we weren’t picking up many blocks, but then we got their timing down.”
The Lady Blues tallied 19 blocks throughout the four-set game, as Sims, Veronica Breitkreutz and Izzy Maberry led the way with 16 combined rejections
“That’s a big number with our height,” Faulk said. “That was huge for us. When you’re blocking their good hitters it gets to them mentally and frustrates them.”
Sims credits the daily practice sessions and the team’s will to win for their success up front.
“Although we’re not big in height, we are big in heart,” Sims said. “Preparation during practice and working hard to overcome our weaknesses pulled us through to the fourth set and led us to the win.”
Sims and her teammates never shied away from the spotlight in a contest that featured several pressure moments.
“Our kids were there wanting the ball when we needed a big play,” Faulk said. “We never took ourselves out of a situation to win. We lost that second set, but the girls never panicked. Whether they were behind or ahead on the board, they didn’t get rattled. They kept their composure and played the game like it should be played.”
Sims also paced Graham’s offense with 13 kills, and Lexie Allen added 10. Sims and Marleigh Sanders manufactured 18 assists apiece, while Nicole King hustled out 11 digs.
The back-and-forth battle against the Lady Lions provided yet another confidence booster for the Lady Blues heading into Friday’s district opener against Stephenville.
“Winning a tight game like that is really beneficial,” Faulk said. “There were times we were down late in sets and we would come back and win. That’s good because our girls will know that even if Wylie or Stephenville get us down, we still have the ability to come back and win because we’ve done it before against a good team. We can take that momentum into the next phase of our season.”

this week four seasons ago our QB got his first Varsity start... It was homecoming at Newton Field.. only problem was ....he was on Springtown...and dang near beat us.. It took a late drive to win it... Anyway congrats! Landry on 4 years of starting varsity football.. not many can say that..

The Lady Blues (21-9) overcame a noticeable height disadvantage and pulled out a gritty road victory over the squad that eliminated them from the 2014 playoffs on Tuesday. Big Spring had a total of 254 yards last night... They had the ball twice as much as Graham... A very good defensive performance by Graham.. Big Spring has a beast of a running back #4.. He is a hard hitter and a bruiser with the ball....but he does not care about the play if he's not touching the ball.. His blocking is very bad and half hearted..
A lot has been said about the officiating of this game.. Well they were equally bad for both teams... Both teams had long touchdowns called back for suspect reasons. Big Springs running back #4 was in the open field running for a td and started to high step like he was Deon.. Boom flag.. the refs also threw a flag earlier on that same play that also was unnecessary.. On Grahams long Td #2 was gone.. A flag came out for block in the back.. after watching the play it was clear that the B.S. player fell on his own.. The Graham player was near him but didn't touch him. The "penalty" was 15 yards from the play. Twice B.S. was given 5 and 6 downs.. Not sure why but Okay what ever.. They scored on one of those drives.. Both of these teams are trying to play a game.. the refs were a huge distraction and a detriment to this game.. I really feel that most of the time the refs are trying to call it right, but this was a very bad game for this particular crew..

Steers resume season with district clash against Gainesville Friday

After spending their open week nursing injuries and sharpening up their fundamentals, the Graham Steers (2-3) are set to officially embark on their hunt for the 4-4A Division I district crown. The Steers kick off their district title defense with a home matchup against the Gainesville Leopards (0-5) on Friday, Oct. 9.
“The kids are going to be ready and excited to start their new season,” Steers head coach Kenny Davidson said. “Our goal is to go undefeated in district, and you can't go undefeated unless you win the first one. We're focused on our new season and opening district play with a win at home.”
Although Graham lost three of their five non-district contests, having faced larger-enrollment schools with established programs benefits the Steers more than if they were sporting a winning record over weaker opponents. The Steers entered the season relying on the emergence of several inexperienced players, and Davidson says those younger players gained a lot from squaring off against teams like Brownwood, Abilene Wylie and Argyle.
“They're not rookies anymore,” he said. “They've had that game experience against really good opponents, and we just have to build on that. They're not young kids anymore; they're experienced players.”
The Gainesville Leopards also survived through a grueling pre-district schedule, but failed to manufacture a win.
“You have to be careful when you look at their record because those teams they've played are really good,” Davidson said. “They have a good tradition of winning, and they always have talent.”
Gainesville's five non-district foes (Kaufman, Kennedale, Alvarado, Ardmore and Princeton) have a combined 22-3 record heading into this weekend's action.
“They're looking to start a new season, just like we are,” Davidson said. “They usually have really good athletes.”
Gainesville's most notable playmaker is senior running back Zukari Long. The highly-touted power back has been dealing with an injured arm, but Davidson expects him to be ready to lead the Leopard's Wing-T offense on Friday.
“He's a big running back,” Davidson said. “We're focused on trying not to give up the big play and making them earn it down the field.”

I am almost finished with an exhausting portion of my book. When I started this.. I told myself that it would be as factual as possible for the in game parts of this venture.. Man I almost bit off more than I can chew.. I have poured over hours and hours of video, numbers, stats, and accounts of each game.. This is only a part of the story.. of coarse....but it is crucial.. It is funny how different people can interpret the same event a dozen different ways.. That's why I love the fact that the games have been documented with photographs, film, and print so well.. thank god for this.. My story is still months away from anything close to an end, but I am nearing the finish of a pivotal portion... To celebrate this I am going to show yall a small part of the preamble.. I cannot show any of the actual product "not allowed by the powers that be" but I can this.. Remember it is rough and has not been proof-read by any stretch of the imagination.. Also I don't need any English professors out here to let me know what I did wrong.. I got folks that will take care of that for me.. Having said that.. I hope you like it...

Lady Blues knock off Mineral Wells to clinch postseason berth

Having already achieved most of their goals that they set in the preseason, the Lady Blues (26-12) checked off another one when they thumped Mineral Wells (25-16, 25-16, 25-10) Tuesday at the Graham High School Gymnasium. The three-set victory evened the Lady Blues' district record at 3-3, but most importantly secured their place in the 4A state playoffs.
“We had really strong moments,” Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk said about the playoff-clinching win, “but sometimes you could see when our intensity and focus dropped a little. You get comfortable with that lead and get laxed.”
Although the Lady Blues let the last-placed Lady Rams hang around for parts of the first two sets, they kicked into high gear for the final set and dominated it from start to finish.
“You could see how confident they were in each other and their abilities,” Faulk said. “Their facial expressions never looked distraught or worried. I like that they're confident enough to give up a few points here and there and still keep their composure."
Savanna Wilson led the way for the Lady Blues with nine kills, eight aces, six digs and one block. Jasmine Sims also fueled the Graham attack with five kills, 15 assists and two blocks.
The trio of Lexie Allen, Veronica Breitkreutz and Izzy Maberry powered out a combined 13 kills, four blocks and two aces. Marleigh Sanders netted 14 assists, six digs and two aces, while Nicole King pitched in with six digs.
The contributions from the entire roster are part of the reason why the Lady Blues entered Friday's contest against Brownwood having already surpassed their 2014 win-total by 15 games.
“I showed them last year's stat sheets and this year's district stat sheets,” Faulk said. “It's unbelievable. There's not an area on a single girl's stat sheet that's not already better.”
One of the examples Faulk gave was the spike in production from Sims. The sophomore setter finished last year's district season with nine total kills. In comparison, she struck down 10 kills in her first district match this season.
“I gave them that stat sheet and we talked about it for two purposes,” Faulk said. “I want them to see that their hard work is paying off. It's black and white. Those stats don't lie, so they know their hard work is serving a purpose. We also talked about using it as a motivator. Let's look and try to do better than the first time we played against Brownwood or Wylie.”

The JV Lady Blues outmatched Mineral Wells (25-19, 25-19), while the ninth-grade Blues also won on Tuesday (26-6, 20-25, 25-16).
Emma Ranger led the JV offense with eight kills, seven assists, two aces and two blocks. Elizabeth Routon produced seven assists, four aces and four digs. Audrey Tyson amassed three kills, two aces and two blocks. Jessica Cortez added four digs.

We now have three very good teams in our District... That only helps our cause.. Mineral Wells came back from 17 down at the half then 3 down with less than a minute left. They fought for that win and got it. No excuses for Graham will be excepted when a team make a great come back like that.. Congrats Rams you earned this one.. Good news is Graham still has a chance at the District Crown if we win in Decatur. It would be a three way crown with Mineral Wells & Decatur... but a crown nonetheless.. If folks can remember the last time that happened was 09. That year we shared a three way district crown with Wylie & Brownwood... BTW both Graham and Wylie went to the S.C. game that year.. I do not think that kind of success will happen out of out district this year but who knows. We should have easy final home game (Sr. Night) this week as W.F.H. comes to town.. They are one of the worst teams in the state... so hopefully we can get a big lead and rest everyone.. The game goes on. RUB SOME DIRT IN IT! or I guess that would be tire crumbs...lol

Not a bolt of lighting to be seen. Not a crash of thunder to be heard. The only thing that's missing is mud. That would have been a super fond memory for the seniors to have on senior night. Have a look at last years media video for the Decatur game.. That game was one of the wildest games I have ever witnessed. Was worth the price of admission ten fold.. Might be the greatest comeback in Graham sports history..

Again, not taking any credit away from Graham but that is all last years credit! That's like saying the Dallas Cowboys are the top team this year because they were NFC east champs last year.
