Sweetwater to Fort Stockton is 214 miles

Sweetwater Mustangs at Fort Stockton Panthers

>> Time, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Panther Stadium.

>> Records: Sweetwater 5-0; Fort Stockton 3-2.

>> Last Week: Sweetwater was off; Fort Stockton def. Mountain View, 28-7.

>> Internet: kfstradio.com (Fort Stockton).

>> Last Season: Did not play.

>> Sweetwater Key to Victory: Slow down the Fort Stockton run and force the pass. In the Panthers’ last two games, they have thrown for just 30 yards. But Fort Stockton didn’t have to pass in either. The Panthers won both games, rushing for 785 yards combined.

>> Fort Stockton Key to Victory: Control the ball, and control tempo. “We think that our offense will be our best defense, just giving our defense time to rest and get off the field a little bit,” Fort Stockton head coach Derrick Taylor said Tuesday.

>> Sweetwater Player to Watch: Quarterback Kaegan Jeffery finished 18-of-21 for 273 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions earlier this season in a win over Andrews.

>> Fort Stockton Player to Watch: Michael Garrison has rushed for 10 touchdowns this season for Fort Stockton.

>> The Coach Says: “They’re a good ball club. Their air and ground attack on offense is good. They’ve got some great speed on offense, and defensively, they’re going to hit you and hit you hard. We have to be prepared.” — Fort Stockton head coach Derrick Taylor.

>> Notes: Fort Stockton running back Michael Garrison and quarterback Lukas Singh are two of the Permian Basin’s most productive rushers. Garrison has rushed for 766 yards and 10 scores on 121 carries, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Singh has rushed for 629 yards and nine touchdowns on 68 rushes, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. Garrison and Singh sit second and third, respectively, behind just Midland Lee’s Aron Dobbins, among area rushing leaders thus far this season.

Final

Sweetwater scores three unanswered TDs to escape this one.
It would've been a long 214 miles if they hadn't.
