That's possible. Tatum at 2-3 maybe the best with that record as well, but both teams need to start putting it all together this week and keep it together. Lots of potential there for both teams.

Well one thing about it we will find out in a couple of weeks. I keep on waiting for the Bulldawgs to show up every Friday, but all I have seen is pups. This is one of those wait and see seasons. We have stunk it up in a few pre-district games in the past, but this feels different. Kinda like Traylor said "snake bit". I have a hard time picking Henderson this week. I just think Surratt with 2 weeks will find a way to win. If we lose this game, than it will be time to start our dynasty over. You can survive a 6-4 regular season, and make a playoff run to keep your dynasty status going. But if we lose this game there will be no reason to think we will beat CH or Kilgo. 3-7, no matter how you spin it means you start over. This was going to happen sooner or later, but good news is we still have a winning tradition, a loaded group of underclassman, and a top tier coaching staff. No matter what happens we will survive to fight another season.

Makes Carthage one of the worst 4a teams in the state. I had some grand illusions that we would be winning state titles every year. Everybody needs to be brought back down to earth at some point. Sucks as a fan, but hey it is what it is. We are not any good...period.

Look at some of the powder puff teams some of the top ranked schools are playing now and get some perspective. Don't rag on the kids, they have been working hard all summer in the heat and deserve some respect. Every program has off years.

Carthage should pull out two wins maybe three in district. That means going to the playoffs. There is still some good football to play. Hang in there and see what develops. Yall have one of the best coaches in the state so all is not lost.

What would make it hard getting back on the horse? Maybe not this year, but I highly doubt the "Thrill is gone" for the Carthage program. You don't just have 6 or 7 good classes come through in a row and win 4 Championships. That would be just too lucky. Our good fortune will return. We will be fine, it might just be a couple of down years. We road on such a high horse that it was a long fall, but we had a dang fun ride. These seniors and some of the juniors have a ring. It will be up to this group of Freshman and Sophomores to get theirs before they leave Carthage.

Trust me everybody in Carthage that follows the program knows. We have had the privilege of watching some great teams, and I mean great. We have also seen some pretty good teams that Surratt did an awesome job with like in 2007, 2009, and 2011. This is neither. If we were playing sound football, and just getting beat that would be one thing. But we are down athlete and depth wise, and making very uncharacteristic mistakes IMHO. That is a recipe for a 3-7 seasons, and a 1st round exit. I would never in a million years say a bad word about Surratt, our coaching staff, or this program. But it's just one of those years. BTW Hemotoxic, I said last year Carthage "doesn't go home in the second round", well I will have my crow early.

2010 Stephenville started the season 1-4 against a challenging schedule. Things didn't look bright but the Jackets turned it around finished the season 5-5, 2nd in district and made a qtr final run. There is no way I thought the Jackets would make a qtr final run in 2010 losing to state champ Aledo by 8. The Jackets still have not had a losing season since 1988. Keep the faith!
