Argyle will travel down the road a short way to Carrollton Ranchview this week on a Thurs. night. Ranchview has a pretty salty team with a capable, speedy, running and passing qb named Keidrien Wadley. He was their starter last season as well and is very athletic. But their other threat is none other than Rocket Ismael's son Raghib II. He plays both ways and will be the fastest man on the field, no doubt. He's their rb, wildcat back, receiver, defensive back, and whatever else they want him to do. I think this team should not be underestimated. Maxpreps says their roster has 75 players on it. That sure seems like overkill to me....maybe they don't have a freshman team, though....I dunno. The enrollment numbers say 805, which isn't super-large by any means.

Looks like they return 8 on offense and 5 on defense from last year's squad. I've read where they said just about all their skill players are very fast....we'll see. They did make the playoffs last year but went 5-6. They already won 4 this year and I'm certain will improve on last season's record and make the playoffs again. Basically, they are looking to knock off Argyle come Thurs. night in a huge home game upset. Wadley is a seasoned Sr. and so is Ismail. They've got some seniors on the lines too, so I'm interested to see how this game shakes out against Argyle. Lots more leadership this season for the Wolves.

They are 4-1 with 2 wins coming vs 0-5 teams. Biggest wins vs Glen Rose and Decatur. Of note, in their last game they beat 0-5 FW Castleberry by only 12 with Castleberry racking up over 160 yds rushing. Do we double those yards for Ralston? I expect they are explosive but can they stand up to the pounding? I see Pigskin Preps and others picking Ranchview so what do I know.

What is Pigskin Preps smoking these days? Walk in the park this week for Argyle.

I hear David McNabb picked Ranchview on the channel 8 High School Sports special this week as well. Sure it could happen but it appears there is little confidence in this years team. Nice bulletin board material though.
Being underestimated = a good thing.

I didn't say anything about anything scorewise or predictionwise. I was just giving a brief synopsis of what I could find out about Ranchview. We massacred em last season, but that was last season. I looked at the teams they've played, but I didn't want to sound too confident just in case some of the Eagles are reading this thread. Every week is a new challenge and a new opportunity for the team.

Nope, that was my misread on Pigskin Preps. The Argyle staff is awesome at keeping the athletes feet on the ground so I wouldn't expect any let downs from the Eagles.

Ranchview had a 8-0 lead at half!against Castleberry.. Maybe they treated that game like bye and just played their 2s

At the end of the day, a win is a win....regardless of the final score and regardless of what team you played. Who knows what really happened in that Castleberry game with Ranchview....except those in the know. All I know is they have some athletes and are 4-1 at this juncture. EVERY OPPONENT SHOULD BE RESPECTED.

Agreed. They all count now. Everyone is 0-0 and lading district right now.
Let the real games begin.

Argyle took the ball on the first play from scrimmage 70 yds. and was caught on the 5 yd. line. On the next play Argyle scored. Then Ranchview on their 3rd play from scrimmage scores on an 85 yd. TD run by their rb Carter. It's all knotted up with less than 2 min. into the game here at Carrrollton Standridge Stadium.

Argyle 7
Ranchview 7

5 plays in the 1st 1:33 of the game

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:16 PM
Now Argyle has the ball again on the ensuing kickoff by Ranchview. They start on their own 27. Both teams have big Olines. Argyle picks up a first down with a 14 yd. run. On 2nd down Cooper Rodgers hits a 57 yd TD pass for another Argyle score. I didn't catch who the ball was thrown to, but it was a very long pass to a wide open reciever.

Argyle 14
Ranchview 7

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:18 PM
Ranchview takes the kick and will start on their own 30.....may have saved a possible runback on the kickoff there. These Ranchview players are apparently very speedy.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:20 PM
Rocket Ismail picks up 12 on a catch from Wadley the qb. That one was good for 12 yds. at the Argyle 49. Wadley does the option read and scampers down the sideline to the Argyle 22. This guy runs a 4.5 40.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:21 PM
3rd and 8 for Ranchview on the Argyle 19 now. Probably 4 down territory. Wadley takes it on the far sideline right at the first down marker. He's gonna be a yard short.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:23 PM
Carter takes it down the Argyle 5 on 4th and one. Then Wadley takes it in for another TD on the next play.

Argyle 14
Ranchview 14

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:24 PM
I don't know what happened against Castleberry, but so far it's been just like I stated.....good athletes with speed at the skill positions and a big Oline for Ranchview.

bobcat1
10-09-2014, 07:26 PM
Oh my!

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:27 PM
Argyle loses the ball on the kickoff but recovers it. It was a shortish wobbly kick that ended up around the Argyle 30. Argyle starts for their 3rd possession. Ralston lumbers down the middle for a first across midfield on 2nd down for an Argyle first.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:27 PM
Now Hunter Markwardt takes it on a jet sweep to the Ranchview 29 for another Argyle first. He's the fastest player on the Eagles team.

bobcat1
10-09-2014, 07:28 PM
Any defense being played at all?

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:28 PM
Rodgers hits McCook for a completion of 10 yds. and another Argyle first.

bobcat1
10-09-2014, 07:29 PM
TD Argyle Chalk

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:30 PM
Now Rodgers hits JC Chalk for another TD in the end zone.

Argyle 21
Ranchview 14

That's the score with less than 6 min. expired in the first quarter.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:31 PM
There's already over 200 yds. rushing in this game....Ralston has 105 and another 100 by Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:38 PM
I'm eating my steak dinner now .....it's my birthday tonite. Take over bobcat1. I'll be back later. Ranchview scored when I was getting my plate

Argyle 21
Ranchview 21

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:54 PM
Ok, I"m back now. Wadley hits a pass to Ismail down to the 10 yd. line. Now Davion Carter scores for Ranchveiw.

Argyle 28
Ranchview 28

8 min. left in the 2nd qtr.....crazy game so far.

That was a nice T-Bone steak dinner off the grill my brother did for me for my birthday. Back to the game now. He's watching Houston and complaining, lol.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:56 PM
Okay, I don't know what happened while I was eating....but Argyle has the ball now after Rodgers hits Estrada for an 18 yd completion to midfield.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:57 PM
Ralston picks up 8 on first. 2nd down for Argyle. Rodgers overthrows the pass while he is hit.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:59 PM
Raslton picks up the first on 3rd down. Now Argyle is on the Ranchview 38. On first he runs for another 6 yds.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 07:59 PM
Rodgers hits Casey Harper for another completion for a 19 yd. gain.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:02 PM
Holding on Argyle.....2nd and 12 for Argyle now. Now Rodgers throws a perfect pass to Drew Estrada down the middle into the end zone for another Argyle score. It was literally a perfect pass.

Argyle 35
Ranchview 28

4:35 left in the half

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:04 PM
Rodgers is 9/10 163 yds. and 3 TD's. so far. Ralston has over 165 yds. rushing. Keidrien Wadley and Rocket Ismail and Davion Carter have over 200 yds. rushing for Ranchview. What an offensive game.

Sounds like a spectator's kind of football game with lots of action on every series so far. This game is full of action with very few penalities and excellent execution by both offenses.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:08 PM
Ranchview has the ball on their own 30 as Argyle stops Wadley on 3rd down. Now Argyle calls a timeout as Coach Rodgers wants the ball for Argyle again before the half. Ranchview will be punting it from thier own 25 or so.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:09 PM
Markwardt and McCook back deep for the punt. McCook calls fair catch at the Argyle 43 yd. line. Argyle will have a chance to drive it for another score before the half now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:10 PM
That was the first punt of the game. Ralston takes it all the way down with blockers, cut inside then outside all the way to the pilon for a 57 yd. TD run on first down.

Argyle 42
Ranchview 28

2:48 left in the half now

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:12 PM
Ralston must've run about 80 yds. on that 57 yd. scamper. He has 218 yds. rushing now so far tonite.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:13 PM
Ranchview has the ball now as Wadley keeps it for about a yard. 2nd down and 9 for Ranchview as Carter takes it out their own 33. Timeout Argyle.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:14 PM
Argyle will attempt a stop here on 3rd down and force another punt by Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:15 PM
Carter is stopped just short of the first. 4th and a yard. They may go for it here just to run the clock and not give it back to Argyle. Lots of wind here for a punt into it now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:16 PM
Ranchview took a timeout to talk it over here. They will probably just go for the first here. Not much time left in the half. Looks like they will punt it.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:17 PM
They faked it and the center snapped it to Wadley who threw it to Ismail for a 5 yd. pass completion. 1st down Ranchview. 30 secs. left in the half. Wadley overthrows into the flat.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:21 PM
Argyle 42
Ranchview 28

Halftime

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:23 PM
Geez, that's lots of action to type that fast and try to listen to the game at the same time....all while trying to eat dinner and watch the Texans.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:27 PM
Evidently Ranchview has quite a bit of breakaway speed if they can get their guys into open spaces. Apparently they broke some on Argyle in the first half before the D finally started shutting the Wolves attack down. I'm hearing the Oline of Ranchview is plenty big and opening up some holes, and when the rb gets the seam....lookout. Wadley has been finding room around the corners, but he's a threat to pass it or run it. That keeps the linebackers occupied and he takes his 4.5 speed downfield before you know it.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:47 PM
Argyle will kick to Ranchview to start the 2nd half. The Eagles need to slow down this Ranchview attack and shut down their skill players. In the 2nd quarter they did that. Now they need to control the ball and the clock both. They have been scoring on every possession, but then let the Wolves score on 4 possessions as well. They didn't let Ranchview score....Ranchview scored by moving the chains and breaking big gains with their speedy runners. Wadley seems to be the key to their attack, but with Ismail and Carter to help, that trio can cause some chaos behind their big Oline.

Over 800 yds. total by both teams in the first half with Ranchview punting once.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:51 PM
Kick goes to Rocket Ismail to the 17. 1ST and 10 for Ranchview to start the 2nd half.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:52 PM
Wadley takes it for a keeper as Drew Estrada makes a shoestring tackle to stop the TD as now Ranchview has it past midfield in one play.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:55 PM
3rd and 7 now for Ranchview as Carter takes it for more yards. Wadley keeps it again and the ball is on the ground at around the 20. The play is called dead at the Argyle 12. Wadley throws it to Ismail in the endzone and it's a great catch for another Ranchview TD in 5 plays.

Argyle 42
Ranchview 35

That was an 83 yd drive and Wadley took it about 69 yds besides the TD pass.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:57 PM
Argyle let the kickoff bounce and now Argyle will start from their own 13. McCook limps off the field now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 08:57 PM
Ralston picks up 28 on first down to the Argyle 42 yd. line.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:00 PM
Ralston picks up 5 more on 1st. Now Cooper Rodgers throws a bullet downfield across the middle to Estrada as he makes the catch at the 5 and takes it in for TD. That's another 54 yd. TD pass by Rodgers and it was a bullet right to Estrada who was running free in the middle of the field.

Argyle 49
Ranchview 35

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:01 PM
Ranchview has it again across the 37 as Wadley took it for 7 more yards.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:02 PM
There goes Wadley around the corner for another first down, but a holding flag will take this back.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:03 PM
Nothing going on in the middle tonite against Argyle, but Wadley and Carter are making hay on the corners. When they try up the middle, they don't get much.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:04 PM
3rd and 10 as Wadley picks up about 4 around the corner but now will have to punt. Wadley is also the punter, so Argyle needs to stay put. About a 35 yd. punt for Wadley here. Argyle will take over now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:05 PM
Argyle from their own 44 out of the pistol as Ralston picks up 8 on first.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:07 PM
Rodgers rolls right and hits Estrada down to the Ranchview 28. Now McCook takes the wildcat for 6 yds. 2nd and 4 from the Ranchview 23.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:09 PM
3rd and 4 Ralston is hit at the LOS. 4th and 4 and Argyle goes for it. They are short by one yard as Ranchview holds. 1st time Argyle has not converted all night.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:10 PM
Carter bounces it outside for 3 yds. as Bearden had him behind the line before he spun off for the gain. Throw to Ismail to the outside for no gain as he is hit hard there.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:12 PM
Ranchview is flagged for chopblock. 2nd and 19 on the 12. Wadley is sacked as he looks to throw. That was David Bearden on the sack...his 19th of the season. Ranchview is on the 5 yd. line. Wadley is stripped of the ball and Bearden falls on it as he strips it. Argyle 1st and goal at the 6.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:14 PM
Ralston takes it for one yard. 2nd and 5 as Ralston takes it up the middle for a TD. He delivered a blow on the defenders as about 5 of the Ranchview defenders hit him but could not stop him from taking it in.

Argyle 56
Ranchview 35

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:15 PM
Ismail takes it on the kickoff from 5 yds. deep to the 13 yd. line. 1st and 10 for Ranchview now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:17 PM
Wadley picks up a couple on a qb draw. 2nd and 8 now. Argyle has pulled the LB's back from the line now. Bearden gets another tackle for a loss of 3. That's the 3rd quarter.

Argyle 56
Ranchview 35

End of 3rd

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:20 PM
It will be 3rd and 11 for Wadley. The throw goes incomplete. Now Ranchview will punt with the wind. Wadley will be punting again. It's snapped over Wadley's head out of the end zone for a safety.

Argyle 58
Ranchview 35

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:21 PM
Free kick to Argyle from the 20 now. Romero kicks it to Markwardt at the 35 and he runs it past midfield to the Ranchview 43 for another short field for Argyle.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:22 PM
Estrada plows his way to the 37 for 6 yds. 2nd and 4. Ralston takes it down to the 25 now. That's 12 more yds. for Ralston tonite. He just stiff armed the helmut of one of the defenders

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:24 PM
Now Ralston takes it down to the 9 after being patient and waiting for his blocks. On the next play he takes in it for a TD. I think the Ranchview D line is getting tired now. The Oline for Argyle is taking over.

Argyle 65
Ranchview 35

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:26 PM
Kickoff is a short fair catch at the 31 yd. line. 1st and 10 Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:26 PM
Wadley hands to Carter for 4 yds. on the carry. 2nd and 6 now.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:27 PM
Wadley gets around the outside as Dylan Sadler drags him down at the Argyle 48 for Ranchview 1st down. There's some new faces in there now for the Eagles on defense.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:30 PM
Now Carter for Ranchview finds a seam up the middle against the Argyle backups and goes all the way for TD.

Argyle 65
Ranchview 42

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:32 PM
How much longer will this offensive barrage last? Now Eric Ramon takes it 70 yards for a long Argyle TD, a backup. This will be a single game scoring record for Argyle. Extra point is good.

Argyle 72
Ranchview 42

Scoring record Argyle has ever given up was by Boyd when we were 2A....55 pts. Can Ranchview score more than that on Argyle tonite?

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:34 PM
How ofter do you score 42 points and are still down by 30? I don't think Wadley and Co. will slow down at all. They are probably having fun on offense.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:35 PM
Now that the backups are in, we'll see if Argyle can hold Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:36 PM
Joe and Jacob Forrer are both juniors for Argyle and Joe made that tackle on Wadley. I guess they are twins.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:38 PM
So far the backups are hanging in there after giving up that last long TD run to Carter of Ranchview. This time Carter is hammered behind the line for a loss as 3 Argyle defenders are there together. Clock at 6:05 now as Wadley keeps it around the end for a first.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:40 PM
3rd and 13 as Wadley is stopped a yard short. 4th and one now for Ranchview. Time out by Ranchview. 4:33 left in the game.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:41 PM
Ranchview from their own 43, is hit behind the line but fights for 1st at his own 45.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:42 PM
Wadley was hit hard there, but spun and made it for the first. Player down for Argyle. He's up now and runs off. Now Wadley takes it for 9 yds. to the Argyle 45.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:43 PM
Pennington body slams Carter, but he may still have made the yard he needed for the first.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:44 PM
Carter up the middle now for a couple of yards. Wadley is without a doubt the fastest runner Argyle has seen all season. It's fun to watch him now for the past 3 yrs.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:46 PM
Wadley read options and picks up 14 before he steps out of bounds. Looks like Wadley wants to score here by himself. Now he goes down to the 9.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:47 PM
Wadley throws it incomplete, but a late flag in the end zone is called against Lamont Cole of Ranchview. He pushed off DeWoody to get open.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:48 PM
Dylan Sadler knocks down the pass in the end zone for a good play. 3rd down and goal now for Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:49 PM
Pitch out on the left side, but Markwardt makes the stop. 4th down and goal for Ranchview. Timeout Ranchview with 24 secs. left.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:52 PM
Ranchview attempts a field goal...it is wide, but there is roughing on the kicker. That was an awful "easy" drive-by roughing the kicker. 1st down for Ranchview.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:53 PM
Ranchview will want to score here with not much time left, 12 secs with a timeout by Ranchview at the Argyle 8.

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:54 PM
Taylor sacks Wadley as time runs out and that's the game.

Argyle 72
Ranchview 42

Final

regaleagle
10-09-2014, 09:55 PM
That was a wild game as Argyle scored on every possession except one and never punted.

hollywood
10-09-2014, 09:56 PM
Great game updates regaleagle! Congrats to Argyle in the sprint relay. Good-ness

regaleagle

The game stats are gonna be over the top in this one. I think Ralston had over 300 yds. rushing. I think Wadley had over 200, and Carter over 150. I also think Cooper Rodgers threw for over 250 yds. and had only one or two incompletions and 4 TD throws. That's just what I remember. And Ralston had 4 TD's rushing as well.

Wadley played on a different level tonite against Argyle and really showcased his talents and speed as he consistently outran/outmaneuvered the Argyle D tonite. Hats off to Keidrien Wadley on a great performance for Ranchview. Normally, that would have been enough to beat most teams.

Wadley had 290 yds rushing and Carter had 205 yds rushing against Argyle tonite. Ralston had 325 yds. on 25 carries. Tons of more stats on this game, but that's the main ones for the rbs. Cooper Rodgers had a great game also. No punts and a record-setting night for points scored by Argyle tonite. Normally, Argyle does not run up the score, but just kept scoring tonite on just about every possession, even the backups.

That would be pretty impressive if a team from a high school with 698 students won state in Division I. I'd say Argyle is the favorite at this point. Navasota is the only team that might upset you.

I think the Eagles are finally going to establish your program as the Southlake Carroll of 4A (or maybe Allen would be a better analogy now and it shares your mascot and even has the exact same logo, I've noticed).

Padilla had the spread at 31 points, and the game final was 30 pts. I guess that means NEVER bet high school football...you just can't predict what these young athletes will do. If you take the points, you win....with 10 heart attacks along the way. If you give the points you lose....with 11 heart attacks, lol. But that was in this game, not the hundreds others played each week here in Texas where football is more than just a game or another sport....it's THE ONLY GAME and therefore totally unpredictable. Padilla and others look like geniuses this morning in regards to this one....but in the long season the spreads are all mullet bets regarding Texas High School Football. I don't bet, but maybe quite a few do....I dunno. I betcha nobody would have bet overs at even 90 points, and certainly not Ranchview scoring more than 28. Much credit to the skill players and Oline of Ranchview, esp. Wadley, and to the Argyle staff for the correct adjustment at halftime. But also to the Eagles D for listening and executing to shut down Wadley and Co. Ranchview will win quite a few more games this season with that offense, and probably turned a huge corner with this game against Argyle. I'm sure their staff also gleaned much information to help improve the total performance of both sides of the ball for the Wolves going forward. They truly do have an offense capable of outscoring most teams they will play. I have no idea what happened against Castleberry.....Texas high school football is just too unpredictable, haha.
