I don't think Arky's D is up to the task. If A&M has a few turnovers, Arky could win, but I think the Aggies shed their slow starts and hit the scoreboard fast and often. Arky will try to slow the game down probably. I think we have the depth on D, but not the experience to stop their ground game and cause turnovers. If Arky can pass the ball, that will add a new dimension. Otherwise, A&M will crowd the box. Aggies will need their linebackers to step up and stop the run.

We're gonna really see how well "improved" that A&M running defense is. I mean it's literally impossible I think to be worse than Tech's so I'll take A&M, but I wouldn't take them to cover more than 14 points.

Sell out for the run and make you beat them through the air. If A&M can get up by 2 touchdowns and force Arkansas to throw, we can use our speed on the end to run around the huge, albeit slow, offensive line and pressure the QB.

A&M will have Robinson, Henderson, Washington, Mastrogiovanni, and Harris all back for this game which will be good for leadership and depth reason, especially since the first four guys are part of the front 7. Cam Clear, Mike Matthews, and Speedy Noil will all return on the offensive side of the ball to reflect the team that beat South Carolina a month ago.

Speedy is back? I thought he was out 3-5 weeks?

Speedy is back? I thought he was out 3-5 weeks?

That was the initial thought from Taylor Hamm who is A&M's version of Chip Brown - whatever he says is the opposite.

Sumlin said last week that Speedy will probably be ready to go for Saturday.

Sell out for the run ...
If I see an improved product for sale, then I might be buying. As for now, I am keeping my funds in my pocket.

I'll take my Ags in a tough one, 38-35.

Vegas has A&M by 8.5

The Arkansas ground and pound game will eat the clock, and may give the Aggie offense much fewer opportunities to score. If Aggie offense turns just one of their possessions over, it could make a big difference in the outcome of this game. I think it will be that close. A&M will need to get the lead and stay even or ahead because I don't see them being able to handle that strong running attack we saw from Arkansas. Of course, that was against a Tech defense which is suspect anyway. But they will still attempt many rushes and take clock away from the Ags. keeping the Aggie D on the field longer than they would like.

The last time the Ags beat the pigs, even with Manziel, they put on a ground and pound running game the 2nd half. This was to preserve the D, IMO, so that they beat Arky at their own game. A&M could do the same this week. I'm sure they'll have a balanced attack, but I'm sure it will depend on how the D holds up to Arky. A&M can ground and pound with the best of them. Good to have so many offensive weapons. I'm very optimistic about this year. I know the meat and potatoes of SEC west is just ahead. I don't expect them to win out, but I know that they have a good chance to win out. The ball will have to bounce their way a few games in order to accomplish this. But I believe they have what it takes, just still very young on D. 19 year olds facing off against 21-22 year olds in many cases. Those few years are prime years for development. Blue chipper youth vs. experience. The next few years look very promising for A&M.
I like to think of the Ags being a stage to showcase Texas talent against the other states. The SEC west is the consensus top conference. By far IMO. By far. There is still no reason for our athletes to leave the state to play ball.

A key matchup will be Miles Garrett against the 6' 10" left tackle for Arky. Speed vs Goliath. I'm very interested to see if we can get in Arky's backfield against those huge hogs. Someone on the radio said they are bigger than any NFL offensive line. IMO, bigger means slower. Guess Saturday at 2:30 we'll see.

My officemate at work is a razorback. We've been looking forward to this one for a while.

Plenty of trash talking. Still not sure what's worse:

A&M run D or
Arkie pass D

I'm taking A&M but not the spread.

Why do we spend $450 M to renovate Kyle to hold over 100K of Aggie Fans and then go play a home game in a smaller stadium ??????

Both teams will find out today where each team needs work to become a national contender this season.

Looks like A&M will need to score on a very high percentage of their possessions today, and get some turnovers. I don't think the Aggie D will be a match for the Razorback O and Oline.

A&M's short yardage "Bulls" formation is called the "Rhino" formation. Next thing we know someone will have a "Water Buffalo" formation, lol. I think Arkansas has a "Bulls" formation on most every down, haha.

I'm here, busy watching our D get owned.

I've been saying all along that Kenny is inaccurate... He's struggling. Good news is: we can't play much worse and we're still tied

Saggy Aggie
09-27-2014, 04:19 PM
Kenny has missed several throws, including 2 for TDs....

Drops, penalties, missed fg and a fake punt TD.

If we can clean it up a bit, we'll come back and win. If we continue to play like this, uh oh...

A huge part of being a top team is being able to play cleanly week in and week out. Every team makes mistakes from time to time, but getting the club to play to its potential is quite another thing altogether. That's what separates good teams from very good teams.

regaleagle
09-27-2014, 06:07 PM
Adios amigos....big time TD pass by Hill on that one. The kick is good for the tie. New ball game with still 2 mins. plus left. That took the Ags 2 plays.

Now Arkie has to punt to the Aggies....not a good thing against an explosive offense. All the Ags need is a field goal to win. No timeouts left but over a minute left.

regaleagle
09-27-2014, 06:14 PM
Ags need a long reception down to about the 35 yd. line for a chance at a field goal.

Both teams have made mistakes and both teams have had their chances to win this game. Now we'll see who gets the upper hand in this overtime series.

regaleagle
09-27-2014, 06:21 PM
Ags go up with one pass by Kenny Hill. They have the upper hand.

regaleagle
09-27-2014, 06:23 PM
Arkansas will try to get firsts on 4 downs each series. They think they can pound the run for 10 yds. on 4 downs.

4th and 2. Can the Ags hold?

I think I lost about 5 years off the end of my life....Aggies played like they didn't want to win. Arky deserves a bunch of credit. They would fare well in Big 12, LOL. :)
I hated the play calling the last play of the game before OT, and the not take a chance for a hail mary hurry up play to run out the clock.

I was happy for the Aggies to get the win. I was happy that the D is showing significant improvements. The D definitely kept the team in the game.

However it was a little embarrassing to see the punter breaking tackles on his 50 yard rumble for a touchdown.

Well ... the Aggies need one of those.

And ... I guess Arkansas used up too much kicking mojo on their punter, because when it came down to kicking field goals their FG kicker's career long was 25 yds. Ouch!
