Bridgeport @ Decatur- The Battle of Big Sandy

It's Battle of Big Sandy time in Wise Co. again folks---one of the fiercest and oldest highschool football rivalries around the Lone State state. Both teams at 3-1---the Bulls on the rise, and the Eagles having another good season. Throw out the records---this one is always a head-knocker---and this year is shaping up to be a closely-contested affair. Decatur has a new HC, and neither coach has faced the other's team in the past as far as I know. Of course, being an unbiased 40-year Bull Homer with maroon blood, I "might" pick the Bulls by 7-10. :D I think this one will come down to the team stopping the other's offense the most times, wins.. Decatur has the stronger rushing attack, and I think the Bulls "O" has more quick-strike capability. Going to be fun Friday. Go Bulls!

Should be another wild game, been like that all season for our BULLS. Overtime thrillers, last second/minute wins, this one might be some of the same.

Expect a shootout with Bridgeport coming out on top. (although I do hope we blow them out)

Looks like Decatur is 2-2, not 3-1 going into this game---my mistake. I think Bullboy is correct, though---they will be 2-3 after Friday for sure.....

Big Sandy Creek run between the two towns and Decatur has owned the sissies in this rivalry with a 2-1 margin.

True--Decatur has enjoyed a big winning margin during the first 100 years of the rivalry---but Bridgeport is making that up and will own the second 100 years.....:D

It was a good first half, lots of action from both teams.

Don't know what happened in the second half since I had to leave at halftime. My guess is turnovers and inability to stop decatur on crucial downs.

Congrats to the Decatur Eagles on the win---they were clearly the better team tonight. The Bulls hung in there for the first half but just couldn't hang with the Eagles in the second half. The Eagle QB just killed the Bulls running and throwing, and our D just had no answer for him---if we come up and play run--- he hit wide-open receivers---stay back and play coverage and he would gash us with big runs. The Bull "D" did not force a punt until late in the game when the outcome was not in doubt, and Decatur was subbing. The Decatur "D" made several stops during the game which stopped several Bull down close scoring opportunities.. The Bulls will be back for district play in 2 weeks against Krum in a big 1st district game. Go Bulls!

I think Decaturs schedule helped them in this game. Whereas Bridgeport has played lower competition.

You got the home side score right! I wasn't at the game but it looks like the Bulls are a one man team. # 7 seems to be a real stud!

I'm wondering if it was a clean sweep for all the levels? Does anyone know?
