It's the AP poll. If Needville won a game AP would move them ahead of EC.

Exactly! Once district starts and through the playoffs they are separate divisions having nothing to do with one another. So why rank them together? There are some powerful DII schools in the rankings!

Tatum should be included in that bunch.whether Tatum can beat any of them, I don't know. But I do think they would be in any of those games. I don't want your head to swell to much.......but those kids are gonna be dangerous this year and next.

Oh..., make no mistake about it. Gilmer is good. Maybe even good enough as is, but they still have a lot of things to fix to be great. In my opinion, this Buckeye team hasn't found its identity yet and makes way too many mistakes. If they ever fix that, look out. It will already take a VERY good team to beat them. If they ever find their identity and start clicking, it will take a GREAT team to beat them.

Carthage won't be able to hang, but Gilmer always thinks they are far better than they really are. If Gilmer could play 4 qts of mistake free football nobody could hang D1 or D2. But they haven't proven they can do that lately.

We will take it like men. Carthage will be outmatched this year in prolly every facet of the game. Hopefully we can keep this game going every year, so we can have a chance to repay the favor one of the next couple years. I still say without 2 seniors that did not attend Gilmer last year, Gilmer is just above average and strong possibility they have a 1 in the loss column. Obviously it doesn't matter to the team or the Gilmer fans (and it shouldn't), but no matter how far this team goes they will have an asterisk by them in my book. Like the steroid era in baseball.

As for next week, I don't see a blowout. Surratt is to good of a coach. Carthage will improve weekly and be fine by seasons end.

I agree. Carthage has too many good athletes, and one of the best HS coaches in the game to say that they will be "blown out" by anybody. You KNOW they will get better the further into the season they go. That's just the way Carthage is. The Buckeyes have had problems of their own that need to be ironed out. Penalties, untimely turnovers, and just all-around sloppy play in all facets of their game need to be cleaned up. If they don't get it cleaned up, they'll be just another good team that didn't live up to their potential. It'll still take a very good team to beat them, but there are plenty of those out there. If the Buckeyes continue to improve each week, it'll take a "great" team to beat them, and there's a few of them out there, too.

No, I didn't take it as a shot at Carthage at all. I do not think the Dawgs can hang within 21 points of Gilmer honestly. I'm not even down on this team. We are young and are still learning. Gilmer is rolling. Only way Carthage can hang is to create points off all Gilmer turnovers

That's just one of the several areas this Buckeye team absolutely has to improve in to be a "great" team. They are already a good team, but to get to the next level they'll have to continue to improve. If Gilmer does clean up their game, I do think it's possible that they could beat Carthage by at least a couple of TDs. BUT, that's not a guarantee. I would just like to see this team play like I know they can. If they do that, Lord have mercy.

Well I hope they wait about 9 more days to put it all together. No need in putting a beating on this young Dawg team. I'm just not sure what's going to happen this season. We have not been in this situation in a while. I honestly forgot what it was like to struggle. Even when we did struggle early we had studs everywhere. It's not like that this year. This senior class is just lacking. I'm not a guy to get on the Internet and run kids down, this is just the truth.

A Carthage team without a bunch of D1 studs? Say it ain't so!

I wouldn't give up hope just yet if I were a Carthage fan. I'm sure they will still win a lot of games. Their coaches are too good not to get the best out of the hand they're dealt.

Two touch down passes dropped, The Dawg Q/B hit the receivers right in the hands. I am a die hard Dawg fan, but I feel a major butt kicking coming next week from Gilmer unless the Dawgs can find someone anyone who can catch a dang football.

I was surprised at how much time the Carthage QB had to look for receivers and then put the ball right in their hands only to be dropped. I was expecting more passing rush from GW, but they must have scouted the receiver problem at Carthage and decided to just drop back and let them throw incompletions. Not in any way what you expect to see from a Carthage team, especially 4 games into the season.
