I am gonna go Monahans by 21. Last week I think the Monahans defense came alive and did a good job. Monahans has actually done prety good in the passing too which is shocking for a Monahans team.

Andrews has a pretty good passing offense with a quality move in receiver.

Andrews "D" is much improved with two years of Coach Don Long's 4-3 under their belt, but the offense is still too inconsistent to stay within 14 of the Loboes. That being said, Andrews has enough speed @ RB and wideout to make it close if Monahans doesn't come ready to play. Old school rivalry in a great atmosphere. I miss the old days when this one drew 8,000 fans regardless of where they played.

It would be great if that district was Sweetwater, Snyder, Big Spring, Andrews, Monahans, Ft. Stockton and Pecos again wouldn't it.

That would be great except Snyder, Big Spring, and Andrews are all D-1. Andrews's problem is that they had 1035 enrollment as of sept 3 and with 1000 kids at Andrews Middle School in 3 grades they'll probably be 5a next time around. They better win the next 2 years!

So, did any of the Monahans fans watch the Lubbock Cooper/Stephenville game last night?

Andrews Mustangs at Monahans Loboes

>> Time, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Estes Memorial Stadium.

>> Records: Andrews 3-0; Monahans 2-1.

>> Last Week: Andrews def. Levelland, 26-15; Monahans def. Snyder, 42-13.

>> Radio: KACT AM-1360, FM-105.5 (Andrews), FM-98.3 (Monahans).

>> Internet: kactradio.com (Andrews), 98xfm.com (Monahans).

>> Last Season: Did not play.

>> Andrews' Key to Victory: Stop the run and force turnovers. Don’t allow Monahans to dictate the tempo of the game.

>> Monahans' Key to Victory: Limit explosive plays by the Andrews offense, and give them less chances to make those big plays by keeping the clock running and shortening the game.

>> Andrews Player to Watch: Tajh Kelly finished with three touchdowns and 51 yards on 14 carries for Andrews during his return from injury last week against Levelland.

>> Monahans Player to Watch: Nicko Jasso is averaging 12.8 yards per carry, having rushed for 434 yards and five touchdowns on just 34 carries this season.

>> The Coach Says: “(Monahans is) very physical. They’re sound at what they do. Their running backs really run hard, run downhill, tough. They’re just really everything you’d expect from a program like that and a football team like that.” — Andrews head coach Ralph Mason.

“We haven’t played (Andrews) in a couple of years, but the one thing that I think stands out is defensively they’ve improved a bunch. You can see that the last three games. I just think they get after it. They don’t do anything to really get them in a bind. They’re just going to play good, sound defense and good technique.” — Monahans head coach Mickey Owens.

>> Notes: The Andrews defense forced six turnovers in the Mustangs’ win over Levelland last week. Owens said Wednesday that his team has only turned the ball over three times this season — one being a fumble by the second string in garbage time late against Snyder.

Just a little update for you Red. The weather right now in Monahans is geting pretty bad. The rain is almost flooding all the streets and it is not expected to let up. Ball control might become interesting to say the least. The only saving grace as they say is that both teams will have to play in it if they have the game at all. Maybe this afternoon it will lighten up a little. As the the game last night. Stephenville made alot of mistakes and sorta shot themselves in the foot too many times. I think they will get it all together and sure would not want to play them next week if you know what I mean. LOL As far as Monahans going to Lubbock Cooper next week I can say that win loose or draw Monahans will represent and we will be proud of our guys for sure. I have no idea who will win but hopefully Lubbock Cooper will be all cocky and overlook the Loboes and get a surprise. Regardless I will drive up for this one. Good luck tonight to all the teams and hopefully everyone will come out of this weekend with no injuries.

The skies have cleared for the most part and the sun is shining here. Hopefully it will do the same there soon.

The win over SV just made a Cooper a 17 point favorite next week. Of course, if y'all run Andrews right back out of Monahans
tonight then that will shrink the spread some.

Yeah the sun is out again and all is well I think in Loboes Land. I figure we will be an underdog as well we should against LC. For some reason though Monahans loves those kind of games and wins some too. Can't wait for the trip to Lubbock next week. Gonna get a great big STEAK.

The Loboes are a 2nd half team but Andrews is way faster. Monahans held the ball but Andrews D has held twice inside the 20-Andrews Offense is way too fast-I may be wrong but I bet Andrews scores 40+ tonite

Andrews has a good team for sure. Alot of speed. Very big defensive line and we just could not get the run off against them. One of our running backs went out with a bad ankle but dont think that would have made a difference. We just got beat by a better team. They deserve the 4-0 start on the year.

No doubt Andrews was a better team-Andrews defense held Monahans to 177 yards all night. Loboes had no answer for Andrews speed
