No way the Gobblers win by 21 +..Not at the reservation. The tribe will be throwing the ball all around the field and Ramirez will run up and down the field. Gonzales by 10.
Cuero by 21+

Cuero should win this one. Cuero needs to find their rhythm on offense, though Cuero won Friday over a talented Wharton the win was an sloppy win it didn't seem like Cuero ever hit their stride. I am not so concerned about Gonzales running game as I am about Cuero's pass defense. Never know what will happen when these two meet.

the tribe has 7 starters back from a state quarterfinal team. No way that happens .Nobody has rushed for 300 on GZ since the Micheaux days..

GZ better be glad they are not in last years district. They wouldn't sniff the playoffs in that district.

The O had some blown opportunities but looked strong in game 1 . The D looked better than in the last scrimmage the secondary may get a work out in Gonzo. The kicking game needs some work the extra points will be needed in close games. D Anthony is a beast hard to stop. All in all Cuero should do very well this year . Go Mean Green.

The pass D for the Gobblers was solid aside from a couple of plays that resulted from a blown coverage. Kudos to Wharton for taking advantage...as for the Gonzo the Gobblers must play great on D to stop Ramirez first and foremost.

When was the last time someone hung over 50 on Gonsalez too? Last week. Hopkins get's his 300, in a 56-28 scalping on the reservation.

you know snot, I checked where the new GZ coach was last year and saw where his team gave up over 40 points a game. Don't think defense is a priority. You may be right about Hopkins and the Gobblers this friday night

I heard through the grapevine that new coach didn't seem all that upset about the way the team didn't respond after the half.

So does nobody recognize that it usually takes a game or two for a team to get adjusted to a new offensive philosophy and coaching staff? If Gonzo has good players like most here contend, then don't be surprised by a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde turnaround from Week 1 to Week 2.

but this seems to be a defensive problem.

Yep....that could be problematic alright. But still, you've got a new staff and the boys may just be confused about a different defense they are being asked to play, I dunno. Is that the case with the D in Gonzo? Are they running a different D this season then past years also???

Fellas....fellas......do you really think the Coaches in Gonzales are the type that do not care? Come on man!!! I would wager that the new system is a little more complex than what the Apache kids are used to running, JMO. Now, the Gonzo coaches are very good and will get them going in the right direction. New system, new coaches, new players, new everything.....takes time in some circumstances. Lets not FREAK OUT!!!!! All that matters is that teams, players, programs get better in the pre-district race for the district race. Weeks 5-10 are the ones that will raise eyebrows. I love it when people speculate and wonder.....no one cares!! Ha ha. Good luck to all.

Tell 'em Johnny B-Good. I agree, it takes time to get the new system down. And, it will not be this week against Hopkins. About all Cuero has, so--he might run it 50 times. Make no mistake, DH is one of the top RB in the state, so--why not use him right, left and middle, when he's the one taking you all the way. Guess you could put 9 in the box, and make them try to throw it. Like you pointed out, week 5 on is when it needs to be in place and ready to shine.

i know the of the skilled/go-to players go both ways. Gonzales was winning at halftime but just ran out of steam and Giddings pulled away. I think the Apache players will be motivated against Cuero and will hang with the Gobblers through the half. Hopkins will keep pounding and Cuero will pull away.

Both of these teams as probably just about every other team in the state are working on correcting flaws exposed in last weeks game, each team will be improved over last week. There will be some personnel changes due to performances last week and some because both of these teams run a different offence and defense that presents new challenges that they may not have seen the week(s) before. That's everywhere every week. So the question isn't wether there will be changes. Question is what changes do you think your team will make based on what you saw from your team? How does that translate into a W?

the skilled/go-to players go both ways.

Welcome to our world over the years. It also increases chances of sustaining injury having to use so many both ways. But in our case, being so small (last district was even worse cause it wasn't divided into DI, DII), what can you do? I know in ND games, we play everyone in a attempt to see if we can gain usable depth for district. And, in past district and more so this new district, you better have depth.

Being GZ/Cuero, I see this close regardless. Pride takes over in this clash. Best of luck to both and just come out healthy. Will be packed, I know that.

For the first time that I can remember, KCTI is not broadcasting Apache football. May as well shut the old station down if you can't do that. If I were a local advertiser, I would never spend another nickel using them as my media source....

For the first time in a long while these 2 teams are not in the same district does not have the same feel. Don't know what Gonzales brings but Cuero looks good this year with a lot of young talent and a RB that should be all state. Hope to see a good game but Gnzo will have there hands full with this bunch of Gobblers. Go Mean Green

Stats. They do not have individual rushing correct overal team numbers look to be ok. Gonzales with 8 yards rushing? With Wharton putting 85 points on the board tonight Cuero's win against Wharton last week looks even better. Gonzo obviously has some work to do in order to get that spread offence clicking.

Saw on the way out of town some redneck put up a piece of plywood and spray painted poor sports and had his truck flashing the lights on it. Well next time if Gonzalez can pay the referees a little more money maybe they might have a chance of making a close game
