It is my opinion after watching the Argyle/Wylie battle that Abilene Wylie is better than at least 12 of those teams ahead of them, including Argyle(whom is overrated). That's my opinion just judging from what I saw on the field. Yeah, both teams made mistakes(Wylie's was costly), but I'm saying I saw a potential juggernaut out there Friday night....just sayin'.

El Campo should be in the top 10 for sure.

Agree with you the Puddlugger. Watch the El Campo scrimmages and their first game against Gregory Portland and they look good. Give them a couple weeks to work out the few issues I saw and they will be ready. Right now they look better than the 2012 team that made it to state at this point in the season.

I think the AP poll has it slightly wrong.

It seems as though something is wrong in points category in 4A. Either points are wrong or they not lined up correctly.

Haha, according to points, Gilmer should be 3!

Me, too. I don't care where we're ranked, either. I just find that odd, and "stupid", too.

None of the teams ranked 1-6 (all were ranked ahead of Gilmer last week as well) lost, so I would assume that it is a typo. Maybe it should say 100 points?

1 vote for Sinton and El Campo. Must of just been their local sportswriter that got them the 1 point. Just keep winning the respect will come later to both.

That's a probability. It don't matter. It's just the AP poll. Now, if this was the old BCS...:foul:

Rankings don't mean doodley, in my opinion. It's where you are after Week 16 that matters...:D

My buddy was at that game and said Wylie looked a lot better than what everyone is giving them credit for. 2 fumbles for TDs....very costly.

So....I don't post on here often, but a few things.

First, Wylie is a good football team. Any opponent that takes them lightly or underestimates them is probably in for a surprise.
Second, if we do not get the 2 defensive TD's, we lose. Not opinion, that's fact. The other fact is, Wylie put the ball on the ground 7 times, typically you can't win like that, and they didn't. My guess is that they will get that cleaned up.
Third, our defense is stout ( I realize 400+ yards by Wylie doesn't indicate that) but I assure you that is the case. Being on the field for 93 plays versus 30 something for the offense will lead to giving up some some yards.
Fourth, Argyle is always good and that trend will not stop this year. Judge us by Wylie or if we go 1-4 in pre-district if you want, but trust me, when games really count, we will be around.
Fifth, we lost 31 seniors and multiple FBS players, so an adjustment period is in order. So, even though the Reagle is concerned, I am not.
Sixth, Do i have pre-conceived notions of us putting on another ring this year? Of course not, we will have that discussion next year. But, we will be a factor at some point.
Seventh, (and most important) I have been reading Reagle post on here for multiple years about Argyle football and I just swallow and say OK. But, allow me to let you in on a secret. Dude hasn't lived here in forever, reads newspapers, tries to find what he can on the internet, and from that posts a bunch of blubber. Over the years, if i got a brick for every inaccurate post he has put on here, I would have a nice start to a house. Half the time, he comments on our all-state players or impact players, and most of them have either graduated or are on the sidelines with injuries, or are not impact players at all. So, take all his garbage with a grain of salt.
so he finally comes to a game and has an opinion? Please, he doesn't even know what he is watching.
My post is probably inappropriate, just tired of reading his BS

@ Black Attack. I have not lived in Argyle since we moved off in 2009. I have been attending games since inception for every season. Unfortunately, I cannot be connected with the teams so closely the last few years since I no longer live in the area. When I did live in Argyle for 13 yrs. straight, I attended every game and even the JV games. I may have even attended more Argyle football games than you have, Sir. I never said I lived in Argyle now....quite the contrary. But I can assure you that I have many connections there, including Coach Rodgers and other coaches that know me on a firstname basis. I don't know who you are and what you represent, but it must be Black Attack. As far as my postings go concerning Argyle, I would rather err on the side of conservatism by design. Last year, I attended 3 games, including the State Final. I think I've admitted that on here more than several times. I try to keep up with the teams as much as possible, even though I'm not down the street anymore. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I played just about every sport in high school and am a very knowledgeable sports fan. I would measure my experience level against yours anyday. If I prefer to post my opinions the way I do (perhaps with purpose) that is my prerogative. But if you think I will sit idly by on this board and allow you to denigrate me without response, you are certainly mistaken. How long have you lived in Argyle and how long have you been attending Argyle sporting events? Have you been to Austin for any of the finals in basketball or been to any track meets or baseball games? How about volleyball? I've attended them all at one time or another.

Most people would welcome a loyal fan like me that is willing to drive a great distance to see games even though my son is now graduated from college. I know Coach Rodgers appreciated seeing me there last season and the other night. And many Argyle people that know me say hello and also know that I moved off but still attend games every season when I can.

Don't taken it to heart regal, it's just a message board where posters can post their views whether they are accurate or not, stirring the pot or just reading for the most part... as long as the rules are followed. You've been a loyal poster and supporter of your Argyle Eagles!

Carry on :1popcorn:

Obviously, all of us over here welcome a loyal fan, and I'm sure you are a good guy. Don't remember questioning that. Don't have one clue who you are. Doesn't matter. Please join us at as many Argyle sporting functions as you can. Love to have you. Possibly if you attended more functions, or picked up your hotline more often to Coach Rodgers, you would be able to get on the board and give a more accurate depiction of what is really going on, or who is actually on the team for that matter. It's kind of funny really, because a bunch of us, meaning people that actually live here and have a clue about what is really going on, marvel at your posts and information, sometimes wondering what team you are actually talking about. As for me, I have had one of my sons in the school and on the football team since 2007, so probably I might know a little about what is really going on.
Your posts are things of legend over here in Argyle, so please carry on, and you have certainly been the one to fly our colors the brightest on this site. I just thought that it might add some punch to your posts if you actually spoke of things really going on, or players actually on the team. Maybe, I'm wrong.

Obviously, you must have mixed up some of my posts with others, and if you had a son on the teams since 2007, he played with mine and may have even been in my living room at one time or another. I don't doubt I may have miscalled a name or two down the line...there have been so many...but do sit in your game parties by all means and laugh at what misstatements a former collegue and loyal Argyllian fan and football Dad may have made thru the course of years, faces, and graduations if it strikes your fancy....I could care less. But to openly insult me on a public forum such as this just shows totally bad taste when tarring one of your own. I'm sure you and yours may actually get a thrill out of your private jokes, if it makes you feel better. I'm sure you'd know me when you saw me, even if you may not know me as regaleagle. If I've in someway or fashion offended the Argyle faithful, it wasn't done by design. We all make mistakes....maybe even you, believe it or not.

Heck of a game for sure. Too bad it had to happen that early in the playoffs. Best teams we faced by far last year were Gilmer and Fairfield. Both games were absolute wars. Nerve racking, but a ton of fun. Maybe we can meet up at Jerry World this year, just at different game times???

I can assure you, Black Attack is not an Argyle Snob. He is "regular good people" and has a very good understanding of what is happening within the Eagle program. Black Attack is a good dude. As for snobs that live in Argyle, I must be lucky as I haven't met anyone that I would describe as such, yet. From what I have seen, most of the folks that live in this community are "good people". Yes, some have a lot of money but the cool thing is that there AREN't many snobs. I guess those folks mostly gravitate to other communities (with Dragons).
