I'll add Taylor Sweatt of Argyle at LB. He played a great role last season when Argyle lost 2 of their 3 starters at that position early. Ended up really stepping up and made lots of tackles. He'll be only a junior this season, and I suspect he will be a cog in that defense. He'll probably be bigger and stronger this season than last year as well.

He got some notoriety as a Freshman last season rushing for 1600+ yrds. and 19 TD's. Look for him to have a breakout season. He's bigger, stronger and faster. Good-lauh this kid has some serious upside.

Not sure he's a under the radar guy. He's already verbally committed to TCU. And Stanford and Texas are now showing interest.

These are players "under the radar". I think the Hights kid shows up like a beacon on the radar, lol.

Zech Hopkins LB for the Gobblers. He had 144 tackles last year as a soph and brings a whole lotta wood doing so.

Agree. Z will knock ya into next week. It moves, he smacks it. I don't know how anyone will score against that solid "D" this year over there. Gob's loaded this year folks, and should make a real run for a state trip IMO.

I don't know about any TDs...lol. Tackling could have been a bit more crisper against Vic West last week.

Then neither is D'Anthony Hopkins of Cuero. He listed in top 300 inTF as is Hights and some big time D-1 at him as LB or safety even those he comitted to TUSA.

That is true but I listed him due to his injury last season.

WR Ben Martin - Stephenville

Speedy receiver who is a Sr this year and has been a key target for Stidham. With more depth across the field this season, I think Martin is going to have a great year.

His injury was not even close to Hights injury. Broken Ankle in playoff game against Wharton and had surgery and months of rehab. Both great kids and friends. Been competing against each other since 7 grade.

Not this year. Last year's senior class had the least talent EC has had in at least 10 years.

This junior class is really talented and we have two really good soph rb's to go with them.

Not as good as the 2012 team but a threat to beat anyone we play.

If we were still in Region IV, I'd say we have a chance for the semifinals. But Region III is brutal.

I predicted when I seen EO play in junior high, he'd be playing for a D1 someday. Great kid.

Who was the RB that wore #27 in our scrimmage the other night? That kid reminded me of Kevrin Justice. He's gonna be a good 'un.

Jaqorius Smith.... he's a Jr. He doesn't see the holes quite as well as Justice does, but with his power and speed he can make his own holes a lot of the time. He'll put up big numbers over the next 2 years.

I agree. Smith and Justice would make a great tandem in the backfield, although I didn't see both back there at the same time much. He is a load, and has good speed.

Kaegun Williams in 7 on 7 this past summer. First game as a Soph this Friday. Keep your radars on this kid. Already getting looks from top D1 programs. Very gifted.

I grossly underestimated him coming into our matchup last year. That kid is the real deal. Crazy good.

RB / LB Mykel Gates - Carthage, Freshman. This kid is going to be bad to the bone. I don't know how good he will be this year, but by the end of the season everybody might know his name. Built like a senior as a freshman. Reminds me of the way Keagun Williams was built last year.

Williams is already known as the freshman sensation and Martin was our best receiver last season. So from a Jacket perspective, I'm going with Darion Brown as a kid who is about to have a break out year. This kid had a ton of receptions in the LH scrimmage. He had a great summer with 7 on 7 as well. He could be the outside threat we have missed. If this kid keeps getting better, the Ville offense will be extremely tough to stop.

I'm proud of Darion. He's been over at our house a few times with my nephews. Great kid!

Port Isabel players that should make some noise this season.

There will be a few packages where they're both in there together..... But for the most part I think it'll be one or the other with equal carries. BTW, the fullback that will be leading the way... his last name is Toombs.

Yes, his son Chris. He has another son, Sean, that is a freshman RB.

How does Chris compare to his dad?

I have watched him play since he was in 8th grade (he's a Jr. now). He was a slightly above average athlete in 8th and 9th... a little better last year, and he has really transformed this year. He goes about 5'11"-185 and will probably start at FB and FS for us.

Velcro is a great name for Mr. Brown. I saw him make a very tough catch in the LH scrimmage that sold me on the kid. You could tell he has put in the work but the catch he made while taking a very hard shot was big time. Not many players make that catch. The way he always catches with his hands reminds me a lot of ole BG. He isn't as tall as Brice but his body frame is a lot thicker. He has a lot of upside. He is on his way to a great year!
