Week 1: Sinton at Tuloso Midway

Last season, Sinton put up 48 pts by half time as qb Tyler Handson had 6 tds total for the game. He passed for 218 yds, 3 tds and rushed for 206 yds and 3 tds in Sinton 61-40 win at Tuloso Midway.

Handson is back for his senior season after great junior season and will have some very good running backs in backfield to help him out this season and some experience wide receivers. On offensive line Sinton will have 3 new starters there and return 8 starters on defense. Sinton offensive line has look pretty good in their scrimmages now the real test starts and looks like a good group up front on both sides of the ball.

Just noticed Tuloso Midway getting some votes in THSCA coaches poll in the region IV rankings Tuloso Midway should be improve from last season 5-5 record.

TULOSO-MIDWAY vs. SINTON

Another team with just a pair of games to get ready for district competition is the Tuloso-Midway Warriors. They open up with Class 4A power Sinton.


The 3A DII state semifinalists took a 61-40 victory over T-M in last year’s opener at Warrior Stadium.


Defense will be an emphasis this year, as the Warriors gave up at least 30 points in each of the team’s five losses. Coach Brian Boone believes an experienced group will get off to a better start in 2014.


Offense should not be much of an issue with the return of nine starters. Matthew Dickson will lead the way after a 1,000-yard, all-district season. Quarterback Caleb Rozypal will command the group.


But it is the Pirates’ signal caller that will be in the spotlight.


Sinton’s Tyler Handson accounted for more than 4,000 yards of offense last season. He went 13 of 22 for 203 yards and three touchdowns through the air and ran for 220 yards and two scores more in last year’s meeting with the Warriors.

I think Sinton wins convincingly towards the end. TM might just put up a fight for the first half.

T-M returns pretty much the entire starting line-up from a year ago. Other than the last couple years this has traditionally been a tough 1st game for Sinton. I don't see a blow-out here at all.

Too early to guess score. Sinton has more weapons on offense this year and plans to use all of them. Look for a more rounded offense.
